Intro:
Kenton Weston is living the dream. He is a very well respected member of the Philadelphia medical
society, a transplant surgeon, and young. What Kenton does not have is someone with whom to share his life.
Kenton is gay and knows that “coming out” could hurt his medical career, but if he ever hopes to have a
meaningful relationship he may have to take a chance. When Kenton meets the father of a patient, he thinks he
has met the man of his dreams; that is, until he falls in love with the man’s son.
Book Content:
Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love, had for Kenton Weston become the City of Never Ending
Work. As he poured over the case studies with which he had become so familiar, Kenton was so tired that his
mind began to wander. As exhausted as he was, Kenton still marveled at how far he had come over the past
fifteen years. The son of a Wyoming rancher, Kenton had graduated summa cum laude from the University of
Wyoming in Laramie, and had realized a dream that at one time he had thought would remain just that, a dream.
Kenton Weston had been accepted to the country’s first, and in the opinion of many the very best
medical school in the United States. The University of Pennsylvania is a private research university and a
prominent member of the Ivy League whose founder was none other than the great Benjamin Franklin, and
Kenton had felt very privileged to have been accepted to its medical school and be taught medicine by some of
the best in their field. The University of Pennsylvania, or Penn, as it was more familiarly known, was home to a
teaching hospital like no other. The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) is huge and its medical
system extensive. After a decade of intensive study and practical application, Kenton Weston had been very
well prepared to assume his rightful place among the best in his field. Upon completing his residency in
surgery, Kenton had been asked by none other than the chief of surgery himself to continue his studies which
would culminate in his becoming more than he had ever thought possible. Kenton Weston had become a
transplant surgeon.
Kenton knew how much his parents had sacrificed for his education and was very grateful to them.
They had worked extremely hard to put Kenton through school so that he would not be saddled with the
financial burden that many of his constituents had known. Having spent many years with the men and women
who now were also respected members of the prestigious world of medicine, many of whom he greeted on a
regular basis in the great hospitals of Philadelphia, Kenton now witnessed these former classmates struggling as
they tried to juggle a busy medical practice, nurture a marriage, and start a family, with a mountain of debt that
would be a part of their lives for a very long time. At thirty-seven, Kenton was not burdened with educational
debt and had already become quite well known as one of the best transplant surgeons in the country.
If there was one thing that was missing in the life of Kenton Weston, it was someone special with whom
to share his life. He had placed his outside interests on hold for so long that he had almost forgotten what they
where. After having lived for over a decade now in Philly, Kenton had seen very little of this city which was so
rich in history. Kenton knew that education extended far beyond the classroom and as well beyond the confines
of the hospital, and had promised himself that he would take full advantage of this extracurricular education.
Thus far, however, he had not. He had yet to visit Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence
was signed, the Liberty Bell, as well as the many other historic sites which claimed Philadelphia as their home
such as the homes of Edgar Allan Poe and Betsy Ross. Art museums had long been a favorite of Kenton, and
he had allowed himself one day years ago the luxury of discovering the many treasures found in the
Philadelphia Museum of Art which features the steps made famous in the movie Rocky.
Concerned for his social life or lack thereof, many of Kenton’s former fellow students and now
colleagues had offered to “fix him up” with a special woman they knew. What they didn’t know, and what he
Kenton had chosen never to divulge to any of them, was that Kenton was gay. His last relationship was with a
young man during his undergraduate days at the University of Wyoming. That seemed like such a long time
ago, and Kenton felt so old now.
As he poured over his mountain of research cases now, Kenton made a promise to himself that this year
he would allow himself to be more vulnerable and would hopefully at least find a friend, if not a friend and a
lover. Kenton hadn’t been celibate since his undergraduate days, but desired a relationship rather than a casual
fling. He had matured, and so had his needs. He needed a mature relationship.
Kenton returned the files to their respective shelves, left the hospital and headed for home. He had
recently purchased a home in Philadelphia’s Society Hill, an affluent neighborhood in what was known as the
Center City section of Philadelphia. He hadn’t chosen Society Hill for its affluence; rather, he had chosen it for
its original eighteenth and early nineteenth century architecture. The cobblestone streets added a charm like
none other that Kenton had seen. Kenton had fallen in love with the art that was the architecture of the homes
here. There were other physicians who lived here, though none as young as Kenton, which was yet another
benefit of his lack of educational indebtedness. Home to much of Philadelphia society, many of Society Hill’s
inhabitants had assured Kenton from time to time that they had known the perfect woman for a physician of his
status. Kenton would politely decline, and for the most part kept to himself.
Tonight was one of the few nights that Kenton was not on call, and was looking forward to a much
needed and well deserved night of rest and peaceful slumber. He was just drifting off to sleep when the phone
rang, which Kenton chose to ignore. I’m not on call, and I need to sleep, he thought, somewhat bitterly. A little
while later someone banged on the door which resonated like a jackhammer inside Kenton’s head. Realizing
that this unwelcome noise had no intention of ceasing until he gave it the attention it thought its due, Kenton
slowly made his way to the door. Wearing only pajama bottoms, Kenton opened the door to find one of his
colleagues looking panicked. “Kenton, we need you to come to the hospital. There’s been an accident and
unfortunately three people are dead. However, they were all three kidney donors and I can’t possibly perform
several procedures simultaneously, and as you know, time is not our friend.” Kenton couldn’t say no when it
came to saving lives, even prior to his becoming a surgeon. As a child he had welcomed every stray animal
imaginable to his family’s ranch, and had amassed quite a menagerie by the time he had left for college.
Kenton motioned to his colleague that he would be right there, and closed the door to get dressed.
When he arrived at the hospital, the adrenaline started pumping and Kenton was working in full swing.
The patients who would be receiving the cadaveric transplants were waiting in anticipation of a normal life
again, off of dialysis. Kenton’s bedside manner was the best, and he assured each patient that everything would
be just fine. After each transplant had been completed successfully Kenton spoke to the family members,
taking as much time as they wanted explaining in as much detail as they desired what had transpired during the
procedure.
One of Kenton’s transplant recipients was a young man of seventeen whose legal guardian was his uncle
of only twenty-six. When Kenton sat down next to the man, he didn’t see Kenton. He was seated in the far
corner of the waiting room, his head in his hands. Kenton spoke low and soft, as he sensed the man was upset.
“Mr. Rosen?” The man looked up and wiped his tear stained face, and tried to focus on Kenton. “Yes, I’m Mr.
Rosen, Michael Rosen.” Kenton extended his hand and introduced himself to Michael. “Everything went very
well, the procedure was successful, and the transplant kidney began making urine immediately,” Kenton
assured him and placed his hand on Michael’s back. Kenton was very perceptive, but could not understand the
reason for this man being so upset. Michael looked down and rested his face in his hands once again. “Mr.
Rosen, I can assure you that your nephew’s chance of a long healthy life is very promising at this time. At this
point, however, I am very concerned about you. I’m a very good listener, if there is something you would like
to share with me.” Michael turned his head to look at Kenton. No one had seemed to care much about his
wellbeing. This doctor seemed sincere. Michael sat up. “I’m okay, doctor, thank you.” Kenton did not
retrieve his hand from Michael’s back. “I can assure you that there is nothing you can tell me that I haven’t
heard before, Michael. No one can hear our conversation.” Michael felt sick. His face turned white, and
Kenton bent him at the waist so that his head was face down. He soon recovered and sat up again.
“Immediately prior to receiving the call that a kidney had become available I had finally told my nephew that
I’m gay. All he said was “oh”, and then we came here. If something had gone wrong and he had not come
through the operation, I would have blamed myself.” Kenton listened intently, understanding this man’s
position more than he could imagine. “I understand,” Kenton said, and by the kind look in his eyes Michael
truly felt that he did understand. Kenton didn’t say anything more, as Michael thought he would. Michael
looked at Kenton, waiting for him to say more. Kenton didn’t offer more, but continued to look into Michael’s
eyes. He thought he saw hurt in those kind eyes. “You know, Jeff, my nephew, didn’t say a word all the way
here,” Michael said to the floor below him. When Kenton spoke, his words were once again low and soft.
“These kinds of transplants happen so suddenly that it can be quite overwhelming for the organ recipient.”
Michael hadn’t thought about it that way. He had only focused on the fear of being rejected by the nephew he
had raised as his own son. “I didn’t think…” Kenton stopped him from the self blame he could sense was
forthcoming from this man Michael. “It’s okay, Michael. We have grown so accustomed to rejection because
of who we are that we automatically expect it.” Michael looked at Kenton. Had Kenton said “we” because he
too is gay, or did he say “we” meaning people in general? Kenton had never admitted to anyone in the hospital
that he was gay, but he felt that it would be beneficial in this situation which in turn would be in the best interest
of the patient. Michael’s questioning expression begged a greater explanation. Kenton removed his hand from
Michael’s back and held them in his lap. “I said ‘we’, Michael, because I too am gay and have come out to very
few, and none of my colleagues, though I think some may suspect.” Michael didn’t know what to say. “I
appreciate your openness, Dr. Weston, thank you.” “You’re welcome, Michael, and call me Kenton, please.”
They continued to look at each other. Were they seeing more than they thought they were seeing, or were they
seeing exactly what they thought they were seeing? “Jeff should be coming out of anesthesia by now. I’ll go
check on him,” Kenton said, excusing himself. “Hey, um, let me know how he is, okay?” “Absolutely,
Michael. I’ll be right back.” Kenton smiled a reassuring smile, and headed to check on Jeff.
Jeff was half awake, half asleep when Kenton walked into the recovery room. The nurse gave Kenton
the vitals and reported the renal parameters, which were all exceptionally good. Jeff was young, and the
transplant kidney was healthy. Jeff started to say something, and Kenton rushed to his side. “Rest, Jeff, don’t
try to talk,” Kenton said, as he held Jeff’s hand. “Have to,” Jeff strained his voice. Kenton bent down until he
was close to Jeff’s face. “Whisper it to me, Jeff, whatever you need to say.” Jeff whispered the words to
Kenton. “Tell Michael it’s okay. I go to school with gay guys. It’s no big deal.” Kenton smiled. “I’ll tell him,
Jeff. Now you rest, okay?” Jeff pulled Kenton’s sleeve as he tried to leave. Kenton bent close to Jeff again.
“Tell him not to worry about me, and I hope he finds someone to love, and tell him I love him.” Kenton
promised he would tell Michael all of these things, but Jeff absolutely had to rest now. “Your body needs to
recover, Jeff. Michael isn’t going anywhere. He can see you in a few hours.” Jeff closed his eyes, and Kenton
went back to speak to Michael.
Michael stood up, but Kenton motioned for him to remain seated. “He’s fine, Michael. His transplant
kidney is working better than expected, and his vitals are very stable.” Michael took a deep breath, and thanked
Kenton. “I’m so relieved.” Kenton lowered his voice and spoke quietly to Michael. “Jeff wanted me to relay
this to you, Michael. He told me that he was okay with your being gay, that he knows gay guys at school, and
that he wants you to worry less about him and take some time for yourself to find someone to love. And, he
said that he loves you, Michael.” Michael’s jaw dropped. “All these years I tried to hide it from him. I never
brought a man home, and I guess I never gave a relationship a chance with anyone because of that. I felt so bad
for Jeff just having me that I made sure he had everything I could give him.” Kenton listened to Michael. He
knew that this could have been his own story. “Let me give you some advice, as a doctor that is. Before we can
properly care for someone else, we must first take the very best care of ourselves.” Kenton held Michael’s hand
in both of his as he said this. “You can see Jeff in about three hours. He’s sleeping comfortably now.” “Thank
you, doctor,” Michael said, as Kenton stood up. “You’re very welcome, and it’s Kenton. I think we’ve shared
enough to be on a first name basis, don’t you?” “Thank you, Kenton,” Michael said, standing up beside
Kenton. “I’ll be back tomorrow, Michael. Jeff should be in his own room then.” Kenton left, and Michael sat
back down. He thought about Kenton’s words, and he thought about Kenton. Back at his own home, Kenton
returned to bed, this time thinking of Michael.
When Kenton checked on Jeff the next morning, he was doing remarkably well. Michael was in the
room, looking very tired. “How are we doing today?” Kenton asked in an upbeat manner. Jeff and Michael
both said that they were fine, and to Kenton they looked fine. “I don’t think Michael has slept much, Dr.
Weston,” Jeff stated. “You look rested, Jeff. How do you feel?” “I’m great. I slept all night long,” Jeff added.
After Kenton looked at Jeff’s chart and told him to continue to rest today, he subtly motioned for Michael to
follow him out of the room. “I’ll be right back, buddy,” Michael said to Jeff. Kenton closed the room to Jeff’s
door. “What’s wrong, what aren’t you telling me?” Michael’s questions came fast. “Hey, slow down, Michael.
Jeff is better than expected for being not yet twenty-fours out from surgery. Let’s talk for a minute.” Michael
followed Kenton to the waiting area where they could speak quietly together. Kenton put his arm around
Michael. “Jeff is doing very well, Michael. I am, however, concerned about you. I can see the exhaustion in
your eyes, and the weariness, which is very understandable. I also understand that you want to stay here with
Jeff, as you live in a suburb on the opposite side of the city and coming and going to and from the hospital could
be exhausting and time consuming. But you can’t keep this up, Michael, up all day and up all night. Trust me,
I’ve tried it. You will crash and burn.” Michael was quick to interrupt. “I won’t leave Jeff, I won’t.” Kenton
rubbed Michael’s back. “Okay, okay. Let me make you an offer, though. I have a good sized house not far
from here, and I would love it if you would consider using my home for a much needed rest. I can assure you
that you would have updates on Jeff any time you wanted, and you could be here as much as you liked.
Remember what I said about taking care of the caregiver.” Kenton was serious and Michael knew he was, and
also couldn’t deny that he needed sleep. He was exhausted and didn’t have the energy to argue. “Thanks, Dr., I
mean Kenton. I could use a nap.” “Good. You go talk to Jeff, but keep it brief. He needs his sleep too. I’ll
finish my rounds and meet you back here to take you to my humble abode.” Kenton returned to find Michael
looking much happier. He felt better knowing that Jeff was okay with him leaving for awhile.
Michael was impressed with Kenton’s so called “humble abode.” It was very spacious and absolutely
beautiful. Kenton kept a very neat home, but what Michael loved most was the exquisite artwork that he had
acquired. Kenton thanked him for his many compliments, and admitted to Michael that he had yet to visit many
of the museums of art in the city mainly because he hadn’t found anyone to go with him. “I’d love to go,”
Michael admitted, still mesmerized by the artwork Kenton had acquired over the years. When Michael realized
what he had just blurted out, he was a little embarrassed. Not knowing what to do, Michael continued to stare at
the artwork not saying a word. Kenton walked over to where Michael was standing, placed his arm on his
shoulder and spoke softly. “I’d like that, Michael. I would like that a lot.” Michael looked over at Kenton, and
Kenton looked back at him. Each knew now that he had definitely seen something in the other’s eyes
yesterday, just as they did today. “Let me show you to your room so you can get some sleep.”
Kenton led Michael to the upstairs bedroom that was connected to his own by a shared bathroom. “This,
too, is exquisite, Kenton. Thanks again.” “Make yourself at home, Michael. Feel free to put your things in the
drawers and rearrange the entire room to your liking,” Kenton offered generously. “I’ve got a few more hours
of work to do at the hospital, but will be back after that. You get some sleep.” Kenton left, and Michael
welcomed the feel of a warm bed against his skin. He fell asleep within minutes.
Kenton returned five hours later to a sleeping Michael. He walked quietly into the room just to be sure
that Michael was really sleeping. As he neared Michael’s sleeping body, Kenton stopped. Michael was
sleeping on his side, with his backside exposed. Kenton stared at Michael’s back, then at his long legs that to
Kenton were gorgeous, and nestled between Michael’s back and legs was the most luscious ass that Kenton had
ever seen. The two round mounds were separated by a crevice so inviting that Kenton had to back away to
avoid taking these mounds in his hands, and more. Michael’s legs were parted just enough to allow Kenton a
view of his balls which lay between them. Kenton felt feelings emerge that he thought had died years ago. He
wanted those balls in his mouth. He wanted Michael.
Kenton somehow forced his feet to move, and walked out the door. He went downstairs and splashed
some cold water on his face. Then he poured himself a glass of wine and sat in silence, thinking about the
events of the last two days. He liked Michael, though didn’t know much about him. Michael loved his nephew
and had for some reason become his legal guardian. Anyone with that much love was someone Kenton wanted
to know. He wondered if he had compromised the patient-doctor relationship in some way by these thoughts
alone.
Kenton was tired after the long day, and walked upstairs to his room. Knowing that one small room was
all that separated him from Michael was more than a turn-on for Kenton. He so badly wanted to show Michael
just how much love he had to give. He was hard just thinking about Michael’s naked body. As he thought
about Michael’s firm supple ass uncovered, Kenton masturbated while dreaming that Michael was masturbating
him, sucking him, and as he climaxed, Kenton had to bite his lip to keep from calling Michael’s name. Kenton
slept better that night than he had in a very long time.
Kenton’s alarm was an unwelcome visitor the following morning. He threw on his pants and hurried
down the stairs when he heard Michael’s voice sounding very worried and very loud. Who was he talking to?
Kenton walked into the kitchen to where Michael was standing, his back to Kenton, with only pajama bottoms
on that outlined his perfect ass beautifully. Kenton tried not to stare. Then his attention snapped back to
Michael’s upset voice. “Why can’t you?” Michael shouted. Kenton stood beside him and placed his arm
around him. He took the phone from Michael and set it back in its cradle. “What’s wrong, Michael, is it Jeff?”
Kenton had the phone back in his hand, calling the hospital. “They won’t tell me anything, damn them.”
Michael walked away from Kenton and into the living room. Kenton asked politely for an update on Jeff
Rosen. “Yes, this is his physician, Dr. Weston.” “I see, thank you.”
Kenton walked into the living room to where Michael was seated with his face in his hands. Just like at
the hospital, Kenton sat beside Michael. Placing his arm around him, Kenton spoke softly. “Jeff is fine,
Michael. They didn’t want to wake him because his sleep is sporadic and will be for awhile. They should have
explained that to you, Michael, and I should have also. I’m sorry. But whenever you have concerns about Jeff,
I will find out anything you want and I will never sugarcoat anything, Michael. One thing that you will always
get from me is the truth, I can assure you.” Michael was still upset, and Kenton couldn’t change that. “I know.
It’s just that he’s my son, really, since his dad died.” Kenton wondered about Jeff’s mother. “I love how you
care so deeply for him, Michael. That is the way love should be. You’ve done absolutely nothing wrong,
Michael, I can assure you.” Michael sat up and looked at Kenton. Those same kind eyes that he saw yesterday
were here today. There was a genuineness in those eyes. “Was Jeff’s father your brother, Michael?” “Yes,” he
answered. Kenton’s arm was still firmly around Michael, their faces almost touching. “May I ask about Jeff’s
mother?” “She took off shortly after the birth, said she wasn’t ready to be a mother,” Michael rolled his eyes as
he said this. “Dave was a great dad, Kenton. He “hit the ground running”, as they say. “Jeff doesn’t remember
him, though, and I wish he did. Dave was involved in a car wreck when Jeff was two.” Kenton took one of
Michael’s hands in his. “I think Jeff has been blessed with an exceptionally good dad,” he said as he looked
directly into Michael’s compassionate eyes. Michael closed his eyes and then opened them again. “I guess so,”
he said. “I know so,” Kenton replied. Both naked to the waist, the feel of the other’s body next to his own was
arousing to both men. Neither had felt this way in a very long time. Kenton rubbed Michael’s back. “Are you
okay now, Michael? If there is something else I can do to make you feel better about Jeff, I will do it.” “I
know, Kenton, I know. It’s just that Jeff was awake while I was asleep, and they told me that he had just now
gone back to sleep and would probably sleep most of the morning. What if he had needed me?” “I think Jeff
would have insisted on your being contacted, and I gave the nursing staff very explicit instructions to contact
me immediately if Jeff wanted you for anything and I would contact you immediately personally,” Kenton
assured him. “You did that for us, Kenton?” “Yes, Michael, I did. I care about you and Jeff. And I know that
Jeff cares about you, Michael, and knew that he wasn’t the only one who needed to sleep.” Kenton’s skin was
warm against Michael’s, and Michael wanted to feel more of it. “Let’s make some coffee, Michael,” Kenton
offered. Michael agreed and followed him into the kitchen.
They sat at the table across from each other, each enjoying the view of the naked form of the other’s
chest as they drank their coffee. “You know what I do, Michael. Tell me what you do for a living.” “I’m a
certified public accountant. I worked for Price Waterhouse for quite a few years before opening my own firm.
I guess I didn’t like the long hours away from Jeff, so I built on to the house and now I have three other
accountants working for me. It’s been a good move, especially now that Jeff has gone through these kidney
problems.” Kenton reached for Michael’s hand, and he gave it freely. “You can’t possibly doubt your ability to
be a good father, Michael, no way. I’d say you’re damn near perfect.” Kenton smiled that smile that made
Michael want him. They both wanted each other. It was clear as crystal in each other’s eyes. “Is Philly your
home, Michael?” “Yes. I went to college at Columbia, but came back to Philly,” Michael replied. “How about
you, Kenton?” “I’ve lived here for over fifteen years now, but I grew up on a ranch in Wyoming,” Kenton said
with sincere pride. “That sounds wonderful after living my entire life with concrete under my feet.” “It was,
Michael. It’s definitely a different lifestyle, but I feel fortunate to have grown up there. Maybe someday I’ll go
back there, who knows?” Kenton said, with a smile. “Right now, though, I’ve got to go do rounds, and then I
should be finished about the time Jeff should be waking up. I’ll check in on him first thing, though. But first, I
need a shower.” Kenton headed up the stairs, leaving Michael to finish his coffee alone.
Michael thought about all that had occurred between him and Kenton. He certainly didn’t want this one
to get away. Jeff had given him this blessing, so what was holding him back? The answer to that question was
“nothing.” Michael needed to talk to Kenton before he did rounds. He headed up the stairs and into his room.
The shower was running and from the door of his room he could see Kenton’s nude silhouette behind
the glass doors. He was beautiful. He had such a nice backside that seemed to be beckoning for Michael’s
touch. Did he dare walk in uninvited? Michael undressed completely, and opened the shower door. Kenton’s
back was to him. Michael walked in far enough so that the water poured over his body. The shower was huge
and the water felt good against his skin, but Kenton would feel even better. Kenton’s head was tilted upward as
Michael walked up behind him. He slowly placed his arms around Kenton and placed his hands on his chest.
Kenton jumped just a little, and then relaxed. Kenton placed his hands over Michael’s. Then he turned his head
toward his shoulder where Michael’s mouth was eagerly awaiting their first kiss. Kenton leaned back offering
his mouth to Michael. Michael’s and Kenton’s lips met amidst the droplets of water the shower was providing,
adding to the intensity of the moment. Kenton hadn’t felt a man’s touch in such a long time that Michael’s
hands on his chest caused an unanticipated reaction. It was as if Kenton’s body was that of a twenty year old.
His nipples hardened underneath Michael’s fingers and as Michael’s hands moved out from underneath
Kenton’s, they slowly and seductively moved downward until they grazed Kenton’s erection just slightly and
then rested very low on Kenton’s abdomen at the base of his penis. Kenton’s mouth on Michael’s would not
move, but remained open as Michael enjoyed the touch of Kenton’s lips, kissing and licking them as he pleased.
Kenton stood motionless, the water beating against his body, as he tried desperately to breathe. Michael kissed
Kenton’s neck, and allowed his hands to experience what they were longing to experience. He placed both
hands around Kenton’s erection and slowly slid them along the length of its full hardness. Kenton leaned his
head back until it met Michael’s shoulder. He moaned, an uninhibited moan, and closed his eyes. Michael
reached between Kenton’s legs, finding and squeezing his balls, while continuing the slow movements along
Kenton’s erection with the other hand. He then reached underneath Kenton’s balls, and what his hand did there
almost caused Kenton to climax. This sudden realization caused Kenton to regain his senses somewhat. He
wanted this to last. It couldn’t end yet. He couldn’t seem to move, however, and he didn’t want this feeling
that Michael was providing to end.
Kenton broke free from Michael’s hold, and turned to face him. They looked at each other, and then
kissed each other, the kiss of longing for that which until now had not been fulfilled. They kissed slowly but
not hesitantly. This was a kiss not to be hurried. As they kissed openly, they each found the other’s buttocks
and discovered fully the loving touch of the other. It was Kenton’s turn now to give Michael the pleasure that
had just been his. He forced his lips off of Michael’s and looked at him as he stroked Michael’s erection.
Kenton squeezed Michael’s balls and his ass at the same time, and watched as Michael’s face showed the
ecstasy that was now his. He parted his legs, allowing Kenton the access that he was probing for. “Kenton,” he
barely spoke. “I know, Michael, I know.” Kenton turned off the water, and took Michael by the hand leading
him to his bedroom. Kenton placed Michael on the bed and spread Michael’s legs. “You’re beautiful,
Michael,” Kenton said, as he leaned down and took Michael’s erection fully into his mouth and then raised up
again allowing this luscious entity to escape the warm moist enclave it had enjoyed if only for a little while.
Michael pulled Kenton to him and kissed his mouth. “Together,” he whispered, and Kenton knew what he
meant. Kenton straddled Michael and took Michael’s erection once again into his mouth, just as Michael
cupped Kenton’s perfect ass and accepted his erection as it made its way slowly to where Kenton desperately
wanted it to be. Kenton moaned and squeezed Michael’s firm buttocks as Michael swirled his tongue around
Kenton’s hardness and held it firmly within his mouth. Michael massaged Kenton where he hadn’t been
massaged for such a long time, squeezed his balls, and forced his erect entity into and out of his mouth as he
pleased. Kenton hadn’t felt this way in a very long time, and knew he would climax soon. He squeezed
Michael’s ass, those same luscious orbs that had shown themselves to him so temptingly, as he enjoyed the feel
of Michael’s erection enter and exit his mouth. This was the part of his life that was missing, and Michael was
the person he had been missing.
As Michael and Kenton increased the intensity of their actions, they were both moaning and writhing,
desperately trying to postpone the inevitable explosion that they both knew would be more pleasurable than
either had known in a very long time. Kenton sucked hard on Michael’s deliciousness and as he climaxed,
Kenton did also. Each holding onto the other, they climaxed together, and just as Kenton had anticipated, it was
the most intense and most pleasurable he had ever experienced.
With the intensity of their pleasure still palpable, Kenton held Michael just as tightly as Michael held
Kenton. With Kenton’s head on Michael’s shoulder, he spoke breathlessly into his ear. “I’ve never felt this
way about anyone, Michael. We’ve known each other just a short time but this is right, you and me, together.”
Michael didn’t know what to say, though he felt the same as Kenton. Kenton began to lean over to look at
Michael, but Michael held him where he was. Kenton touched Michael’s face. “Kenton, I’ve never been good
at relationships, I mean I never gave them a chance. But I want to, with you.” Kenton kissed Michael on the
cheek. “Then that’s what we’ll do,” he said.
Michael continued to hold Kenton, afraid that if he let go Kenton would be gone forever. “You know I
should go to the hospital now, don’t you?” Kenton asked as well as stated. “I know you do, and I want to see
how Jeff is doing.” “Let’s go then,” Kenton offered.
They dressed quickly, but not too quickly that they didn’t take the time to enjoy watching the other’s
naked form as it was swallowed by garments not unlike those which had been so quickly shed such a short time
ago.
They arrived soon after at the hospital, Kenton in scrubs and Michael in casuals. Their first stop, of
course, was Jeff’s room. The door to Jeff’s room was closed. Kenton sensed that something wasn’t quite right.
“Hey, Michael, let me see if he’s awake or maybe getting a sponge bath before you go in. We don’t want to
embarrass him.” Kenton didn’t look worried, at least not to Michael. Michael agreed, and walked down the
hall to the waiting room. Kenton walked in and shut the door behind him. “Dr. Weston, something is wrong. I
think the transplant kidney may have been diseased somehow,” Dr. Kellogg explained. He was an infectious
disease physician. He continued to explain, as Kenton steadied himself for the worst. “I’ve drawn some blood
to see what the renal indices are, and we were going to page you just now.” Kenton walked over to Jeff. “Jeff,
can you hear me? It’s Dr. Weston. Open your eyes now.” Jeff’s eyelids fluttered, but did not open. Kenton
felt Jeff’s transplant kidney and pressing hard on it made Jeff grimace. Kenton looked at the nurse. “When did
you first notice this?” he demanded. “Just now, doctor, right before you came in.” How was Kenton going to
explain this to Michael? The lab came back and it didn’t look good at all.
Michael was beginning to wonder what was keeping Kenton. He went to the door of the waiting room
and looked down the hallway toward Jeff’s door. He noticed another physician hurrying toward Jeff’s door.
Dr. Stone was on the transplant team with Kenton, and was monitoring Jeff’s cardiac output which was
diminishing. Kenton spoke up. “Okay, everyone out. Give me about thirty minutes. I need to get his uncle in
here now. He’s in the waiting room.” The nurse hurried toward the waiting room where Michael was standing
in the doorway. “Come with me, please.” As he hurried down the hall toward Jeff’s room, Michael felt dizzy
and sick to his stomach. The other two physicians were standing in the hallway. What was going on? Where
was Kenton? The nurse motioned for Michael to go inside, but she remained in the hall with the other two
doctors. Michael went inside.
“Close the door, Michael,” Kenton said, and pulled a chair close to Jeff’s head, and seated Michael in it.
Jeff looked awful. “What’s wrong? Jeff, it’s me. I’m here now. Talk to me.” Kenton knelt beside Michael’s
chair. With Michael leaning over Jeff, Kenton rubbed Michael’s back and talked to the back of his head.
“Michael, he can’t hear you right now. He’s not conscious.” Michael turned on Kenton. “What!” “Why the
fuck not?” Michael was trembling, and Kenton placed his arm across his back and pulled him close. “Michael,
it seems that the transplant kidney may have been infected or diseased, according to the renal indices from the
blood test just drawn.” “And no one knew this before they put the damn thing in him?” Kenton calmly
continued. “It was tested, but there are always risks. We can never give our patients a one hundred percent
guarantee, although we would like to.” Michael didn’t know what to say. He just laid his head in his hands.
“Michael, I need to let the other doctors back in so they can monitor Jeff.” “No, Kenton. It’s just Jeff and me,
and no one else will come in here, do you understand?” Kenton did understand, and found himself in a place he
would rather not be. It was hard to be doctor and friend at the same time. Kenton loved his patients, though,
and that’s what made him a good physician. “Michael, I need to do a biopsy of the kidney so that maybe we
can identify the organism that may have caused the infection. Jeff won’t feel any part of it, but I don’t think
you want to stay.” “I’m not leaving, Kenton, and that’s final.” Kenton would never ask a loved one to leave.
He had seen too many miss the last precious moments of their loved one’s life to insist that they leave. “Okay,
Michael. I will need the nurse to assist me. That’s okay, isn’t it?” Michael nodded, and held Jeff’s hand.
Kenton brought the nurse back in, and performed the biopsy as quickly as he could. Kenton was very
skilled physician and performed the biopsy in record time. The nurse took the biopsy and headed for the lab.
“He will be numb for a long time, Michael, so when he wakes up he may wonder why he has no feeling in this
part of his back. You may need to tell him.” Michael looked up at Kenton. “You think he’ll come back,
Kenton?” Michael had calmed down a bit, and was thinking more rationally now. “He may, Michael. The
chance is fifty-fifty at this point. But if we can treat whatever infection entered Jeff’s bloodstream, the chances
will be much, much better.”
They waited in silence for the results of the biopsy. Kenton periodically checked Jeff’s incision, and
Michael never let go of Jeff’s hand. When the results came back, Kenton stepped out into the hall to discuss
them with the other physicians. Kenton wanted to explain the results to Michael personally. The news wasn’t
as bad as Kenton had feared. “With the right antibiotic I think we can kick this out of Jeff’s system in
approximately twelve hours. We’re lucky it’s a bacterial infection.” This was all given to Kenton by the
infectious disease specialist and the pathologist. “I know Mr. Rosen is upset, as is understandable, but we need
to inject the kidney as well as start the IV stat.” “Okay, give me a minute to explain this to Michael,” Kenton
said, and hurried into the room. He explained it all to Michael who agreed. “Jeff is still numb from the biopsy,
so I will give the injection while our infectious disease physician begins the IV, okay Michael?” Michael
nodded and pushed his hair back, but not letting go of Jeff’s hand.
Kenton welcomed the other physician into the room, and introduced him to Michael. “Now Michael,
help me roll Jeff onto his side, and then hold him still. I don’t think he’ll feel anything, but his body may
involuntary spasm or twitch, and I need him to be still, okay?” Michael nodded, and did what Kenton said,
desperately trying to hold back the flood of emotion wanting to break through. “Look at Jeff’s face, Michael.
Do not watch what I’m doing.” Kenton’s words were stern, and Michael too emotional to argue. After the
injection, the IV was started with the high dose antibiotic. Kenton’s colleague excused himself, and left the
room.
Kenton and Michael gently rolled Jeff back onto his back. “When is he going to wake up, Kenton?”
Michael was worried. Kenton sat beside him again. “As soon as the medication kills enough of the organism
that is making Jeff sick,” Kenton replied. He didn’t want to say that Jeff was toxic, didn’t think that word
would resonate well under the circumstances. “He’s on a relatively high dose, so hopefully within a few
hours.” Michael glared at Kenton. “A few hours!” He practically screamed the words. “The human body is a
remarkably regenerative organism, Michael, but it does require time to heal. Jeff is fine. He won’t even
remember any of this. No permanent damage has been done.” Michael was shaking. “I’m sorry, Kenton.
You’ve done so much, and the staff got right on top of this, I should be grateful.” Kenton put his arm around
Michael. “Michael, you love Jeff and everyone can see that and, believe me, speaking for the staff, we would
much rather see that than someone who didn’t care. We’ve seen it all here, Michael, the good, the bad, and the
apathetic.”
Kenton asked Michael if he would eat something since he hadn’t all day, but Michael refused. Kenton
wasn’t going to push it. Kenton excused himself to complete his rounds, but showed Michael how to page him
or the nurse immediately should Jeff open his eyes. “It’s very important that you do this so we can monitor his
vitals, okay?” Michael promised. He cared a lot about Kenton, and felt bad for being so demanding of him.
Michael sat with Jeff until Kenton returned. Jeff still hadn’t come out of it. “His heart rate is up,
Michael. That’s good. His vitals are stabilizing. It shouldn’t be long now until you are talking to him again.”
Michael said nothing, but continued to watch Jeff’s face intently. Kenton sat next to Michael and rubbed his
back. “Maybe hold his hand with a little less force, okay?” Michael hadn’t realized that Jeff’s hand had turned
white. He let go immediately. Kenton held Michael close to him. “It’s okay, Michael, hold his hand. It will
help. Here, let me show you.” To Kenton’s surprise, Michael allowed Jeff’s hand to be transferred from his to
Kenton’s. Kenton held Jeff’s hand flat and with his thumb lightly rubbed the top of Jeff’s hand. “This will help
to stimulate the nerves.” “Thanks, Kenton,” Michael said, and resumed what Kenton had demonstrated.
Kenton had, without Michael’s knowledge, checked Jeff’s radial pulse which was strong. Kenton was
encouraged.
Kenton sat back in his chair and watched Michael as he cared for Jeff. Kenton cared a lot for Michael,
and he hoped that Michael cared for him. He could see firsthand that Michael had a huge capacity for love. He
definitely did not seem as if he were one who would take a relationship lightly. Kenton was tired of
noncommittal liaisons. He desperately desired a long term relationship. He craved it.
Kenton excused himself to check on a few patients. He was pretty sure that Michael talked to Jeff when
he wasn’t in the room, and this too was good for Jeff. Kenton didn’t really need to see patients right now, so he
started toward the dining room to get something to eat. His pager went off just as he reached the dining room
and it was Michael. He had sent a text that said, “Kenton, come back, fast.” Oh no, what now? Kenton ran
through the halls toward Jeff’s room, expecting the worst. He had his hand on the trauma button to have a team
at Jeff’s door within seconds, just waiting to press it. He threw open the door. “What have we got, Michael?”
“He woke up, Kenton.” Jeff’s eyelids were fluttering a bit, and he was trying to speak. Kenton walked up and
stood right at Jeff’s head. He gently opened Jeff’s eyelids and checked the reactivity of his pupils. Then he
held Jeff’s wrist, his hand on Jeff’s radial pulse. He gently stroked Jeff’s face. “Jeff, wake up now, buddy. It’s
Dr. Weston.” Michael watched in awe at Kenton’s easygoing bedside manner. He was falling for Kenton, and
he hadn’t felt this way in a very long time. “I’m going to have his blood checked, Michael.” Michael nodded
agreement. The nurse came in and drew Jeff’s blood, and rushed it to the lab. “Jeff, come on now, Michael is
here.” Jeff opened his eyes and Michael stood up. Kenton motioned for him to sit back down. “It’s important
to stay very calm, Michael. I know you’re excited.” Jeff tried to speak. “Can you see me, Jeff?” “I can,” he
said with a somewhat raspy voice. Jeff squeezed Michael’s hand and Michael was thrilled. “I’m here, Jeff.
How do you feel?” Kenton was relieved. He couldn’t bear to tell Michael bad news, ever. “Dry,” Jeff
whispered. “I can give you ice chips for now,” Kenton offered, and helped Jeff with the chips. The nurse
walked in with the lab just then, and smiled at Jeff. She handed the papers to Kenton, and excused herself.
Kenton walked to the edge of the bed and with his back to both Jeff and Michael, went over the lab thoroughly.
It was perfect. “Looks good, guys. I’m going to slow the rate of the antibiotic a bit.” Michael watched
Kenton’s face for signs of concern, but found none. Kenton could feel Michael’s stare and wanted to reassure
him, but didn’t want to worry Jeff. “Hey, buddy, I need to step out for a minute, but I’ll be right back,” Michael
said to Jeff. He motioned for Kenton to follow him, which did not go unnoticed by Jeff.
Outside of Jeff’s room, Michael stopped Kenton. “Tell me the truth, Kenton.” Kenton showed Michael
the lab and explained every value. “It’s better than I expected, Michael. Jeff is a very fast healer. The
organism was discovered quickly and is being attacked. This was just a minor setback. Jeff is going to have a
wonderful life.” Michael thanked Kenton, fighting the urge to kiss him, and went back to be with Jeff.
Kenton placed the lab in Jeff’s chart and decided to go finish his paperwork. He felt it best for Michael
and Jeff to be alone. It had been an exhausting day, for everyone.
Over the next few days Jeff continued to regain his strength, the pain was almost entirely gone, and he
was up and walking some. Kenton brought Michael food and changes of clothes. He didn’t expect Michael to
leave Jeff’s side, and wouldn’t have suggested it, though he would have loved to share his bed with Michael.
Kenton had a recliner brought into Jeff’s room so that Michael could sleep a little. Kenton had explained to Jeff
what had happened with his transplant, in the presence of Michael, and Jeff said he was glad that everything
went well. If only Michael could be more relaxed like Jeff and take things in stride, thought Kenton.
On the day of Jeff’s dismissal, Michael asked Kenton to join him in the waiting room. Michael told him
that he never could have gotten through this without him. He also told him that he didn’t know what he would
do not seeing Kenton every day anymore. “This isn’t the end, is it?” he asked. “I hope not, Michael. I’d like to
think it’s just the beginning,” Kenton replied. “How can we see each other, Kenton?” “You mean when,
Michael, and the answer is any time we want.” “Both of my accountant colleagues have offered to stay with
Jeff, and their wives have offered the same, if I need a break,” Michael offered. “There’s your answer, Michael.
And, speaking as both your friend and as a physician, you do need a break.” “Is tomorrow night good,
Kenton?” “It’s perfect, Michael. I’ll be home around 6:00.” “I’ll be there, Kenton.” “You’ve got a key to my
place, Michael. Let yourself in.” They stood up, shook hands, wanting to hold each other instead, and Michael
left to discharge Jeff. Kenton headed to his office to finish his work for the day, wishing that it was tomorrow
already.
Kenton was home the following night when the phone rang. “Kenton, I’m sorry but I can’t make it
tonight. I guess I’m just tired,” Michael half lied. “That’s understandable, Michael. You’ve been through a lot
and so has Jeff. Give me a call when you’re more rested.” Michael hung up the phone, feeling guilty. The
truth was that Michael was afraid to get too serious, he always was. It took all the strength he had just to keep
up the “happy” façade when Jeff was present. Kenton thought little of it. He was tired too, and went to bed
early that night.
The next several days were busy ones for Kenton. Not only did he have his usual responsibilities at the
hospital, but in addition he had been assigned as a mentor for a resident who had just completed his surgery
residency at Columbia. He now planned to do a year internship under the tutelage of one of the country’s best
transplant surgeons. It wasn’t that Kenton didn’t want to give back by teaching those coming after him, it was
just that for the first time in a very long time Kenton thought he would finally have the time to enjoy life outside
the hospital. Mentoring took time, explaining everything instead of doing things himself which he could now
do in his sleep.
Kenton was sitting in his office completing the day’s paperwork when the young man knocked on his
door. “Dr. Weston, I’m Jay Winston.” “Hi, Dr. Winston,” Kenton greeted him warmly, even though he was
exhausted. “Just let me finish this report and then I’ll show you around. Have a seat.” Kenton motioned to the
chair beside his desk, and Jay sat down. “Paperwork,” Kenton snarled. Jay was surprised that Kenton was so
warm, expecting to find a doctor who thought very highly of himself and very little of everyone else. “The first
order of business we need to discuss is my name. It’s Kenton. I’m Dr. Weston to very few.” Jay smiled at
him. Kenton showed Jay the entire hospital, explaining in detail what everyone did and which doctors were
easy to work with and which ones were not. When they parted ways at the end of the day, Kenton was pleased
with Jay. He appeared to be a very competent young man. He should be an asset, not cocky, Kenton thought.
Kenton went home that night and checked his messages. He hadn’t heard from Michael in three days.
He wanted to call him, but didn’t want to push. He knew that Michael was busy with Jeff’s recovery.
For the next two weeks Kenton discovered that he definitely had a shadow, but didn’t dislike this. He
rather enjoyed mentoring young Dr. Winston. Jay watched Kenton’s every movement, and hung on his every
word. Kenton wasn’t as tired as he thought he would be from teaching Jay. Jay’s enthusiasm seemed to
energize Kenton. His work seemed more meaningful when explained to someone not fully immersed in the
field.
At the end of the two weeks, Kenton finally had a weekend off. Still no word from Michael. Kenton
finally called him early Saturday morning. Jeff answered. Thrilled to hear from Kenton, Jeff told him how
good he felt and had gone back to school. He also told Kenton that he had been accepted at Stanford. “That’s
great, Jeff. Stanford is a great school and you will definitely love the area. It’s beautiful.” “I think Michael
expected me to go to Columbia like he did,” Jeff added, hoping for a response. “How is Michael, is he there?”
Kenton was confused by the distance that Michael had placed between them. “No, he’s working today. One of
his employees moved to New York, so Michael has been working a lot lately,” Jeff replied. “Is he okay, Jeff?”
“I guess so, I mean he keeps to himself and doesn’t say much.” “Well, take care of yourself, Jeff, and tell
Michael I called, will you?” “I will, Dr. Weston,” Jeff replied. Kenton was happy for the boy, but knew that
Jeff would have a hard time letting go.
Kenton took a shower, and when he got out the phone was ringing. He was surprised to hear the voice
on the other end. “Dr. Weston, I mean Kenton, this is Jay. I hope it’s okay to call you at home.” “You bet,
buddy, any time, just like I said,” Kenton replied. “I just wondered if you like art. I’d love to go to the
Philadelphia Museum of Art, but no one I know is interested, so I was just wondering.” He sounded so shy,
thought Kenton, and not at all confident as he definitely had been in the operating room. But Kenton was dying
to do exactly what Jay had just offered. “I’d love to go, Jay, and yes, I do like art, very much,” Kenton’s mood
brightened.
Not knowing where Jay lived, Kenton offered to meet him at the museum, on those steps made famous
by the film Rocky. Jay was waiting when Kenton arrived. They ran up the steps trying to imitate Sylvester
Stallone, and then spent the entire day in this massive home of hidden treasures. Jay wanted to thank Kenton
for welcoming him to his mentorship so warmly, by buying the two of them a couple of Philadelphia’s famous
hoagies and eating them at his apartment. “Sounds great, Jay, but how about we take them to my house. I’ve
got a fireplace and I’m cold.” Kenton’s honesty was refreshing to Jay. He had had his share of the snobbish
elites in his life. “Okay. I’ll be there in a little while.” Kenton gave Jay his address, and drove away.
Jay hadn’t looked at the address until he was on his way to Kenton’s house, and was shocked. Society
Hill had often been called “Snob Hill”, but that didn’t seem to fit Kenton’s personality. Jay hoped he hadn’t
been wrong about the saint of a mentor he had been blessed with to work under.
Kenton opened the door wearing faded jeans and an equally faded t-shirt. “Come on in, Jay.” Jay
walked in carrying the sandwiches, looking at bit questioningly at Kenton. “Hope you don’t mind. This is my
usual at-home attire.” Kenton chuckled as he said this. “Oh, no, it’s just that you look different than I had
expected, I guess.” Kenton thought for a minute, and then said, “because of my address, right?” “I guess so,”
Jay admitted. “I didn’t buy in this neighborhood for its status. I chose Society Hill because of its central
location.” Jay felt a little awkward now at his former and fleeting negative thoughts.
Kenton took the sandwiches from Jay and welcomed him to his home. He led him into the cozy den off
the kitchen where Kenton spent much of his time. The fire felt good to Jay as Kenton offered to take his coat.
“Here we go, wine and hoagies,” Kenton announced, as the two of them sat on the floor. Kenton enjoyed Jay’s
company. They had had a wonderful time today, and Kenton wanted to know more about this young man with
such a promising future. “I grew up on a ranch in Wyoming, Jay, and it has taken awhile for me to get used to
being around so many people. Penn is a good school, though. They taught me well.” Jay now knew why
Kenton seemed so down to earth. Kenton was quiet now, hoping that Jay would feel comfortable in his own
disclosure. “I grew up in Manhattan, the Upper East Side, but it’s not as glamorous as it seems. It can be very
lonely.” Kenton could see a sadness in Jay’s eyes. “Where do you plan to practice, Jay?” Kenton asked,
changing the subject. “I plan to go to San Francisco. The Bay Area is beautiful. I’ve only been there once, but
I loved it. I could see the sky,” Jay laughed at this last statement. Kenton knew what he meant. That’s why he
loved Wyoming. Kenton had been to California’s wine country many times, and it was beautiful. “That’s a
great area, Jay. They gave you a good offer, right?” Jay nodded. Kenton knew it wasn’t his business to ask,
but as his mentor he felt responsible for Jay if only for a little while. Kenton was also several years older than
Jay, which heightened his feeling of responsibility for guiding the young Jay. Jay asked for more wine, and
Kenton told him to help himself to whatever he wanted.
Jay went to the kitchen and gulped a glass of wine. Then he walked back into the den where Kenton’s
back was turned as he faced the fireplace. He knelt beside Kenton and put his arm around him. Before Kenton
could adjust to the surprise of his action, Jay leaned around and kissed Kenton boldly on the mouth. Kenton
wanted to stop him, but couldn’t. He hadn’t felt lips on his since his night with Michael. Jay took Kenton’s
empty glass and set it on the small table beside Kenton.
Kenton’s legs were straight, and Jay positioned himself so that he was straddling those legs, never
removing his lips from Kenton’s. He pulled Kenton to him, hungry for more of him. Kenton placed his arms
on Jay’s back, enjoying the warmth of him as he stroked his back. Kenton finally broke the kiss, and Jay pulled
him even closer, and laid his head over Kenton’s shoulder. Kenton was still trying to grasp what had just
occurred. He liked this young man, and definitely wanted him, but had without a doubt been taken off guard.
Kenton held him close as he also spoke. “Hey, buddy, where did this come from?” Kenton kissed Jay’s neck
after asking, not wanting him to feel any shame. “I’m not complaining, Jay, I just didn’t know. Are you sure
this is what you want? Are you sure I’m what you want?” Kenton knew he should stop this from continuing,
but had let it go too far already. Jay responded by kissing Kenton again and placing his hand firmly between
Kenton’s legs. “I want you, Kenton,” Jay admitted to himself as well as to Kenton.
He pushed Kenton down onto the floor, and knelt beside him. His hand was enmeshed in Kenton’s hair
as he kissed him again, more forcefully now, while he kept his other hand firmly between Kenton’s legs and
forcing his legs apart, massaged him and squeezed until Kenton was hard. Jay slid his hand upward along
Kenton’s erection entrapped by denim. Kenton was lost in a sea of sensations. Jay had caused a moan to
escape Kenton that neither had expected. Jay unleashed Kenton’s erection with one move as he slid the zipper
down its track. His hand was on Kenton’s naked erection now and moving downward to find those delectable
treasures that were nestled beneath. Jay wanted those treasures. They would soon be his. Kenton closed his
eyes. Jay stopped kissing him and watched his face. He wanted Kenton. Did Kenton want him? Kenton
pulled Jay back down to him and kissed him just as he had been kissed by Jay. Then he held Jay as he felt his
way to Jay’s crotch and squeezed his balls. Jay gasped. He hadn’t expected this, but definitely wanted it.
Jay forced Kenton’s jeans down and off. Then he turned and began to suck him. He took all of Kenton
deep inside him as he enjoyed those treasures that lay beneath Kenton’s erection. As he sucked Kenton’s dick,
Kenton had Jay’s pants down and was enjoying the feel of the perfect shaped orbs of his young tight ass as it
now faced him. He allowed his fingers to drift slowly between them, reaching underneath to find an erection as
hard and heavy as his own. With his entire arm spreading Jay’s legs wide, Kenton stroked Jay’s hardness
slowly. Jay found it difficult to concentrate. Kenton’s touch combined with the wine was making him dizzy.
He sucked harder on Kenton, now wishing that this hardened entity was deep within where Kenton’s arm had
spread his buttocks wide apart.
Kenton wanted to be inside Jay just as much as Jay wanted him there. Kenton let go of Jay’s hardness
and watched as its heaviness could not defy gravity, and then he slowly and seductively outlined that area that
was waiting to be filled. It was open now, and Kenton had to close his eyes to keep from climaxing. As Kenton
entered Jay with just one finger, Jay stopped his sucking. Jay tried to prevent Kenton’s finger from escaping
but could not. Kenton would fill him so well, he thought. Kenton was enjoying the seduction that was driving
Jay wild, but wanted to please him too. He lifted Jay’s chest upward and in one movement Jay’s mouth was off
of Kenton’s erection. Kenton removed Jay’s clothes entirely from the waist down. Then without warning,
Kenton was kneeling behind Jay whose knees were underneath him eagerly awaiting Kenton’s entrance.
Kenton began to enter Jay and then stopped. He slid his hands underneath Jay’s shirt and stroked his chest.
Jay’s chest was on the floor now, his buttocks high in the air. Kenton asked softly, “Is this what you want,
Jay?” “Oh, Kenton, yes,” he answered.
Kenton very slowly entered Jay and filled him more than Jay thought possible. Moaning, Jay begged for
more as he pushed back against Kenton. Kenton gave him what he wanted. This young man deserved pleasure
and if Kenton could give it, he would. Jay’s moans became louder and louder, and Kenton pulled him
backward as he thrust forward with greater force each time. Kenton was bringing to Jay pleasure that he had
never experienced before. Unlike the younger men Jay had been with, Kenton took his time and Jay had never
felt anything like this. The sight of Jay’s perfectly shaped ass swallowing his erection in its entirety was
bringing Kenton dangerously close to his own climax. His own moans were soon meeting those of Jay, and Jay
was urging Kenton to fill him with that part of him that had thus far been withheld. Kenton came with such
force that he lay on top of Jay as a result of that force. He held Jay’s chest as he realized the full intensity of his
own climax. Jay moaned as he clenched to squeeze the very last of Kenton’s explosion into its welcoming new
home. “Oh, Jay,” Kenton moaned, over and over.
Kenton hadn’t forgotten Jay’s hardness that lay heavily below Jay’s body. He held it in his hands and
Jay moaned again. As Kenton’s no longer erect penis left the warmth of Jay’s innermost space, Kenton flipped
Jay over and began to lick and suck his aching penis like never before. Jay spread his legs wide to give Kenton
full access to what his mouth and hands sought. Kenton turned around so that his back was facing Jay. He then
lifted Jay by the buttocks so that he could pull Jay’s penis into his mouth and back out again. Jay lay on the
floor unable to move. Kenton was a skilled lover, and there wasn’t any part of Jay that wasn’t being satisfied.
Without a warning to either Jay or Kenton, Jay’s climax came hard with Kenton’s intense sucking and Jay held
onto Kenton’s waist to steady himself. Kenton sucked harder and harder as he squeezed Jay’s tight perfectly
shaped ass until Jay’s climax was complete. Jay was practically screaming by the end of his climax. He had
never had a lover like Kenton. Jay was breathing so hard he was panting. It was not until Kenton was certain
that he could not bring Jay any more pleasure than he already had that he lowered him back onto the floor,
allowing Jay’s now flaccid penis to escape the warm wetness that had brought him such intense orgasmic
pleasure.
Kenton turned around and lay half across Jay and held him tightly. “Oh, Kenton, I’ve never felt
anything like that,” Jay admitted honestly. Kenton kissed Jay’s neck. “I know what you mean,” Kenton said
honestly.
The fire was almost out when Jay and Kenton awakened from a sleep they hadn’t realized had consumed
them. The phone was ringing and woke them from their deep slumber. Kenton got up and went to answer this
intrusion, while Jay watched his luscious buttocks walk away. Jay could tell from the tone of Kenton’s voice
that the person on the other end of the line was not delivering welcome news. “What did you say?” Kenton
demanded. The voice on the other end explained that a patient of his had just been brought in by ambulance,
and appeared to have been beaten. When Kenton was told the patient’s name, he was shocked. “Are you
sure?” Yes, they were sure. “I’ll be right there.” Kenton explained to Jay that one of his patients needed him,
and that he could come with him if he wanted, which he did. Kenton told Jay that he had no idea how this
possibly could have happened, but he intended to find out. “Do you know him well?” asked Jay. “Yes, I do, or
I thought I did, and I thought I knew the family, but perhaps I was wrong.” Jay knew Kenton was upset, and
was ready to help him in any way he could. Kenton and Jay were out the door in seconds.
When they arrived at the hospital, Kenton was met by the trauma physician who had just treated Jeff.
“We wouldn’t have called you, but Jeff stated clearly that you were his physician, and that is about all that we
could glean from our conversations with him. It seems that he may have suffered a blow to the head, and he
also has some bruises on his lower torso and legs. Any idea who could have done this, Dr. Weston?” Kenton
shook his head. He couldn’t imagine who would do this. “Where was he found?” Kenton asked. “He was
found at home by a neighbor. It seems no one else was there. The neighbor was interviewed by police, but
didn’t seem to know anything. She’s an elderly woman who had brought Jeff and his dad some homemade
soup.” Kenton felt sick. He wiped the sweat from his forehead. “Is his, um, dad, with him?” Kenton asked.
“No, the young man was the only one at the house when the neighbor called the ambulance. We’ll wait for you
to examine him, and then I will have to contact the police.” Kenton knew the drill. Kenton asked Jay if he
would mind sitting this one out, at least for the initial exam. Jay understood and decided to go to the cafeteria
for some coffee.
Kenton walked into the exam room to find Jeff staring up at the ceiling. He pulled a chair to Jeff’s side
and held his hand. “Jeff, it’s Kenton.” Jeff looked at him. “Thanks for coming, Kenton.” “Jeff, I need to
examine you. Is that okay?” “Sure. It’s good to see you again.” How could this young man be so upbeat?
Kenton was confused. Kenton looked at Jeff’s bruises. Whoever did this certainly knew where to hit. If Jeff
hadn’t hit his head, the bruises could have remained hidden forever. “I need to check your back, Jeff. Let me
help you onto your side.” Jeff tried to help Kenton, but didn’t have the strength to move his own body. “That’s
okay, buddy. I can do it.” Kenton moved Jeff just enough to check his incision site. Pressing in the area didn’t
seem to elicit pain. There was a bandage on the back of one of his legs. Kenton turned Jeff back to his original
position. “Jeff, they didn’t tell me about the bandage on your leg. Will you tell me what it’s from?” Jeff
looked away while he spoke. “It’s from a cut. It’s no big deal.” Kenton was at a loss here. He had seen plenty
of domestic abuse victims, but Michael, no way. Kenton was usually very good about figuring these things out,
but this a puzzle not readily solved. He didn’t know what to think.
Kenton sat on the bed next to Jeff’s legs and leaned toward him, steadying himself with his hands on the
bed. “Jeff, will you tell me how this happened?” Jeff hated to lie to Kenton, but knew that he had to. “I fell at
home, and no one was there, that’s all.” Kenton knew that Jeff was withholding the truth, and Jeff knew that
Kenton knew he was withholding the truth. Kenton held Jeff’s hand. “Jeff, look at me.” Jeff looked at Kenton
with the sweetest, most innocent eyes. This was breaking Kenton’s heart. “Jeff, as a physician I am required to
report suspected abuse, and I do suspect abuse, as does the emergency room physician who first examined you.”
Jeff said nothing. He looked away. Kenton felt bad for the boy. Victims of abuse were often financially
dependent upon their abusers, and their abusers were also a big part of their support system. “Jeff,” Kenton
stated in a tone that let Jeff know that he was awaiting some kind of response. “What will I do, Kenton, where
would I go?” “Are you asking me where you would live, Jeff?” Kenton wasn’t pulling any punches. Jeff
didn’t answer. Kenton answered anyway. “In most cases the state intervenes, but in your case with your
eighteenth birthday just six months away, you could live with an emergency foster care family, and I am one of
those families. You could stay with me, and when you turn eighteen of course, you can do whatever you like.
However, if I were the family you lived with on an emergent basis, I would never force you out at eighteen.
You are always welcome in my home, Jeff, forever.” Jeff looked at Kenton. Maybe there is a way, he was
thinking. Kenton continued. “As you are seventeen, you may choose with whom to live if you know someone
who is qualified.” Jeff was listening, which was an important first step. Just tell me who did it, Kenton
thought. “Jeff, I must know who did this to you. I’m sorry, but I’m required to submit a report.” “You
probably won’t believe me, Kenton,” Jeff worried. “Jeff, I have absolutely no reason to doubt your integrity.”
Kenton knew now who it was, but had to hear it from Jeff. Jeff couldn’t lie to Kenton’s kind eyes. “He’s just
frustrated. He doesn’t mean to do it, he never does. It’s his business that’s not going so good, and I’m so much
trouble.” Jeff blurted this out fast for fear he might not say it all.
Kenton did not miss the part about, “he never does”, which meant that this was not the first incident.
“You know who I’m talking about, don’t you Kenton?” “I’m sorry, Jeff, but you must tell me the name, I can’t
assume.” “It’s him, Kenton, it’s Michael. It’s been about four years now, not often though, and it’s because I
require so much, because of my kidneys, you know. Now he wants my trust fund because I got a full
scholarship to Stanford. He says I owe him that much.” Kenton held onto the bedrails. He had been so wrong
about Michael. He had had sex with Michael. “Jeff, none of this is your fault, you do not owe Michael
anything, and your kidney failure is in no way your fault. I know that you love Michael, but you certainly do
not owe him your trust fund. Your parents set that up for your future.” Jeff was trying hard not to cry. “What’s
going to happen to Michael?” Kenton honestly didn’t know. “I don’t know, Jeff. That is out of my hands. I’m
sorry, Jeff. I am very sorry.” Jeff knew that Kenton was sincere. “Do you know where Michael is, Jeff?” “No,
I guess I blacked out for a minute, and when I woke up he was gone.”
Kenton was too tired to push Jeff any longer about his ordeal, and Jeff was tired too. “Jeff, I’m going to
admit you at least overnight, and assign myself as your emergency foster family, that is, if you will have me.”
Kenton winked, trying to lighten the ominous mood that hung in the air. “Of course I will, and thank you,” Jeff
replied, and closed his eyes.
Kenton signed off on the emergency room physician’s report, and instructed them to place Jeff in a
private room with a police guard outside the door. No visitors allowed, and all hospital staff members are
required to show proper I.D. and have a significant reason for entrance to Jeff’s room, were Kenton’s final
instructions. Then he said he would be in tomorrow around noon to reevaluate Jeff, and left the emergency
room.
Jay was waiting in the cafeteria when Kenton walked in. “Good, I thought you had left without me,” Jay
said jokingly. “Let’s go home, Jay.” Kenton look tired, and Jay felt bad for him. They walked back to
Kenton’s house in the cold and darkness, saying nothing. Kenton and Jay walked into the den where the night
had begun with such passion, but had ended in such tragedy. Kenton checked to make sure the fire was out, and
cleaned up the room a little. Jay wasn’t sure what to do, but thought that maybe Kenton wanted to be alone. “I
should go,” Jay said hesitantly. Kenton grabbed him from behind and put his arms around him. He sucked
gently on his earlobe. “Stay with me tonight, Jay, sleep in my bed naked beside me.” Jay was shocked, and
more than a little turned on. He nodded in agreement.
Kenton took him by the hand and led him up the stairs to his bedroom which Jay found exquisite. One-
of-a-kind artwork adorned the walls, and the furniture was a perfect combination of antique and contemporary.
Kenton undressed completely and began to get into bed. Jay took everything off but his shorts, and began to get
into bed too. Kenton stopped him. “No, everything off, Jay, please. I need to feel you tonight, all of you.” Jay
did as he was told, and Kenton pulled him close, draping one leg over him. Jay could feel himself becoming
hard and felt embarrassed, because Kenton was not yet. Kenton stroked Jay’s back. “Mm, you feel good,” he
said. He held Jay’s head and kissed his mouth. He ran his tongue along Jay’s lips. He loved Jay’s lips. Jay
was powerless under Kenton’s touch. He tried to hold Kenton, but he held Jay down kissing him hard and
forcing his legs apart and stroking deeply that area beneath his balls. Jay was on fire. Kenton’s lovemaking
was demanding tonight, and Jay was powerless to resist and didn’t want to resist. Kenton opened Jay’s mouth
with his own and pulled Jay’s tongue into his mouth with a hard sucking motion. Kenton was squeezing Jay’s
balls now as well as continuing all of his other arousing motions, and Jay was finding it difficult to breathe. He
wanted to touch Kenton, but Kenton held him back. He wanted to ravage Jay, as if he were claiming him as his
own.
Kenton had found those perfect shaped orbs that formed Jay’s luscious ass and parted them with his
fingers until he found that opening that his rock hard erection had filled completely just a few short hours ago.
He entered Jay just slightly and Jay gasped. Kenton broke his kiss with as much force as he had started it, and
watched as Jay’s mouth remained open with expectation, the look of anticipated ecstasy on his face. Kenton’s
mouth quickly found Jay’s hard cock and let it slide lazily into his open mouth. Kenton entered Jay with his
fingers while sucking hard on Jay’s dick, squeezing Jay’s balls and deeply massaging beneath. Jay’s body was
on fire. He didn’t know how much more stimulation he could take. “Oh, Kenton,” he moaned, trying to force
more entrance by Kenton’s fingers. Kenton gave him what he wanted, holding his sweet ass skyward once
again as he sucked harder and entered further. Kenton threw back the blankets and Jay felt something warm
and sensual enter him followed by Kenton’s now rock hard erection. Facing Jay this time, he entered him
slowly and deeply, harder and deeper it seemed than he had before. Jay opened his eyes to find Kenton lost in
his own pleasure. Kenton opened his eyes. To Jay, they appeared a little misty. “I want you Jay,” Kenton said.
“Mm, I want you too, Kenton,” Jay said. “Really, Jay, do you really want me?” “Really, Kenton,” Jay said,
and closed his eyes again. Kenton gave Jay all he had and then without notice rolled him over and entered him
from behind. He pulled Jay’s beautiful ass upward so that he could enter him fully so that Jay would feel
pleasure like he had earlier when he was screaming with ecstasy. He found Jay’s erection as it hung heavy
beneath him and masturbated him as he entered him. Jay was holding tight to the pillow above his head to
steady himself. He had never experienced such intense sensations. Kenton had pleased him before, but this
was beyond pleasure. Jay was gasping and moaning, and Kenton was pleased. He knew that Jay wanted him.
Kenton’s climax came hard as he entered Jay with a great thrust and as Jay moaned loudly in surprise at
Kenton’s deepest thrust yet, his own climax came hard and fast at the expertise of Kenton’s hands. When both
had climaxed completely, Kenton lay upon Jay’s limp body and held him tightly. Kenton was still deep inside
Jay when the two of them fell asleep. Jay awoke once in the night and Kenton was sleeping soundly on top of
him still, and Jay liked that. He wanted to sleep like this every night.
Kenton and Jay slept until almost 8:00 the next morning. Kenton rolled off of Jay, and Jay turned over
onto his back. The first thing Kenton remembered was how he had practically raped Jay last night and he
turned to him. “Jay,” he said, and Jay turned to him. Kenton had no idea what he had planned to say. “What is
it, Kenton?” “Jay, if you feel that I took advantage of you in any way last night, please tell me,” he stated. “I
don’t feel that you did, Kenton. Why would you ask that?” “I was in a bad place last night, Jay, with a lot of
conflicting feelings coursing through me all at the same time, and I needed you and wanted you. I just think
that I was a very selfish lover last night.” Jay scooted close to Kenton and placed an arm around him. “Maybe
I wanted a selfish lover last night, Kenton. Maybe I needed to feel that I was irresistible, and just maybe, you
gave me what I needed too.” Kenton looked at him. “That’s an interesting summarization, but I guess it works.
Your honesty is refreshing.” Kenton smiled and turned toward Jay. Kenton pulled him close and kissed his
cheek. “Oh, it’s so unfair to have to go into the hospital today,” Kenton moaned. “I’m tired.” “May I ask
about last night, Kenton, or is that confidential?” “No, I can tell you.” Jay listened intently to Kenton’s story.
Kenton left out the part about sleeping with Michael. He couldn’t explain it to himself, much less someone
else. Jay thought Kenton’s offer to Jeff was wonderful, and Jay thought that Kenton was wonderful. “Jeff is
lucky. You’ll be a great surrogate father.” “Well, Jeff will be going to Stanford in the fall, so it’s not like I’ll
be a real father to him,” Kenton clarified. “If you care now, you’ll always care, and Jeff is lucky to have
someone like you to care about him,” Jay added. “I guess so,” Kenton said. “It’s funny, you know, Jay, before
we spent so much time together at the museum, I had no idea you were gay, and now here we are.” “I was
hoping, Kenton, since I met you that you were gay. I guess I fell for you right away.” Kenton didn’t say
anything to this, but thought plenty. He was definitely attracted to Jay and not just physically, but if Jay were
going to San Francisco in six months Kenton wasn’t sure how much either of them should invest in a
relationship. Kenton also had to sort out his feelings for Michael. Kenton had thought that he and Michael had
a future.
Kenton kissed Jay again on the cheek. “Well, now we know, don’t we?” he said as he stroked Jay’s
face. They lay together for another two hours before Kenton knew he had to get up. He wondered if Michael
had shown up at the hospital. It was nice having Jay with him. He was definitely attracted to him, and if
Michael had shown up Jay would distract him from his attraction to Michael.
Kenton made coffee while Jay showered and after Kenton had showered, they drank a cup of coffee and
hurried to the hospital. “Do you want me to stay with you today, Kenton, or what do you prefer?” “Oh yes,
Jay, I both want and need you with me today. Jeff is seventeen, and might consider advice from you more
valuable than from someone my age.”
When they arrived at Kenton’s door, the policeman stood up, and Kenton and Jay explained who they
were, showed their I.D., and walked into the room. Jeff was awake and watching TV. “Jeff, this is Jay. He’s
completing an internship with me.” Jay shook Jeff’s hand. Jeff liked Jay. Kenton was right. The two of them
were able to talk about what happened. Jay had a good bedside manner. Kenton excused himself and left the
room for awhile. He talked to the nurse regarding Jeff’s night and asked who had visited. “He’s doing very
well, Dr. Weston. He did get a phone call at one point that seemed to upset him because he seemed anxious
after that, but per your instructions, we gave him a light sedative and that seemed to help.” Oh no, Kenton
thought. I didn’t think of blocking Jeff’s calls. “Do you know who called?” asked Kenton. “I’m sorry, Dr.
Weston, but I don’t,” she responded. Kenton thanked her and walked back to Jeff’s room. He and Jay were
talking when he walked into the room. “I hate to break this up, guys, but could you give use ten minutes, Jay?”
“Sure, I’ll go get some breakfast.”
After the door was closed, Kenton turned off the TV and sat beside Jeff. “How are you really, Jeff?”
“I’m fine,” he said. “Jeff, it’s hard for me to be both physician and friend to you,” Kenton chuckled. Jeff
wondered what he was really trying to say, then blurted out, “Am I no longer welcome to stay with you?”
Kenton could see Jeff’s anxiety build, and he tried to get out of bed. Kenton stood up and held him down. “No,
no, Jeff. You are definitely coming to stay with me. That will never be an issue.” Jeff settled back down.
“You will be able to come home tomorrow morning. But I do need to know who called you last night and upset
you. The nurse is required to report everything.” “You know who it was,” Jeff said. “Tell me about it, Jeff,
please.” “He hates me, Kenton, and he wants my money. It kind of hurts, you know.” “Yes, Jeff, I do know.
Of course it hurts. I think that Michael is much less happy with himself than he is with you, however. Michael
is scared, Jeff. He’s afraid to be alone, but realizes in a very short while that he will be. His biting words are a
way of holding on. It seems odd, but it’s true.” Kenton’s explanation made sense to Jeff, and gave him a bit of
comfort. “He loves you, Jeff, but does not know how to say it, and may not be ready to recognize his own fear
of being without you.” Kenton hoped he wasn’t completely screwing up.
“I need to leave today, Kenton, please.” Kenton didn’t see this coming. He had meant to explain to Jeff
the role of Jay in his life and Kenton wasn’t quite sure what that was. For someone who longed for the simple
life, you sure do know how to let things become complicated, he told himself. “Well, are you sure you’re up to
it, Jeff? Are you sure you’re ready to take the next step? It’s a big one.” “I’m ready,” he assured Kenton.
“Well, it just might be the best thing, then. Let me do a quick exam first,” Kenton offered. He did not want this
young man to feel unwanted again. “You look good to go, Jeff. You really feel ready?” Jeff nodded his head.
“Kenton, are you and Jay involved? It’s okay, I was just wondering.” Kenton’s head started to throb. He was
not prepared to answer questions about him and Jay. “A little bit, Jeff. We’ve been through a lot here at the
hospital and have discovered shared outside interests. Does that bother you, Jeff? You can be honest with me,
and I promise you that it will not change the way I feel about you.” “It doesn’t bother me. I hated to see a nice
guy like you get involved with Michael, but selfishly I wanted it to happen. I thought maybe then he would be
happier. I’m sorry for wishing him on you.” Kenton stood over Jeff and looked directly at him. “Jeff, you do
not owe me an apology. You do owe someone, though, and that someone is you. You owe yourself the chance
to be a free-spirited young man, and to have fun. Having fun should be your biggest concern right now, not
ensuring the happiness of someone who is supposed to be caring for your wellbeing.” Jeff just smiled, a little.
“Now, let’s get you out of here.” Kenton left to discharge Jeff and take him home.
Before he did so, however, he went to the cafeteria and discussed everything with Jay. “I wanted you to
know everything, Jay. I don’t like keeping secrets from people I care about. I am involved with you, Jay.” Jay
just smiled. Kenton’s faith in him was all he needed.
Jeff loved Kenton’s home. It was very modern, yet quaint. He had no trouble feeling comfortable. He
liked sharing his studies, his thoughts, his dreams, everything with Kenton. Kenton listened to him, offered
advice but not judgment, gave his opinion from his own experiences but did not tell him what choices he should
make for his own life. Kenton liked having Jeff there too, to talk to when he wasn’t working. Jeff wasn’t
involved in the hospital, and in some ways Kenton found himself living vicariously through Jeff.
Kenton, Jeff and Jay found that they all loved art and history, and Philadelphia offered more than its
share of both. The three of them spent as much time as they could at the various museums of art, and Kenton
was finally able to visit those historical places for which he had had neither the time nor energy since he had
moved to Philadelphia.
Jay left for San Francisco at the end of June, and Kenton was especially happy to have Jeff in his life
when he did. Both of them would miss Jay, but Kenton knew that Jay had to go. He was at a different place in
his medical career and in his life, where he was willing to work as many hours as it took to reach that elusive
dream of stardom sought by so many young physicians, though realized by very few. He promised to return
often, but Kenton had no expectations that he would.
Jeff would be off to Stanford in six short weeks, and then Kenton would be alone again. He felt
responsible for Jeff’s happiness and would worry about him when he left, and he was especially concerned that
Jeff continued his medical regimen to protect his kidney. They had talked about this often, and Jeff promised
that he would do everything he could to protect himself from transplant rejection. He did not want to go back
on dialysis.
It was a week before Jeff’s departure, and Kenton was slowly walking home from a grueling shift at the
hospital. He hated to see Jeff go, he had to admit, but didn’t want to stand in his way. He walked in to find the
house completely dark. He switched on the lamp by the door. He called Jeff’s name, but got no answer. A
chill ran threw Kenton. Had Michael done something? Kenton ran up the stairs and into Jeff’s room. It was
dark. Kenton turned on the light. Jeff was lying on top of the bed on his side staring at the wall. Kenton
walked over to him. “Jeff, are you okay? Talk to me. Are you hurt?” Kenton rubbed Jeff’s face. His eyes
were open. “Jeff,” he said sternly. Jeff looked at Kenton. “Oh, Kenton,” he said. “What is it, Jeff?” “I’m
okay, just tired.” “Jeff, are you feeling sick?” Kenton demanded. “No. Kenton, can I talk to you, tell you
anything?” Kenton sat on the floor so that they were face to face. “Yes, Jeff, you can tell me anything, and I
will always listen with an open mind. I love you, buddy.” Kenton put his arm around Jeff and rubbed his back.
“Talk to me, Jeff.” Jeff was sweating and his heart was racing which did not go unnoticed by Kenton. “Jeff,
are you sure you’re not feeling bad?” Kenton asked as he wiped Jeff’s forehead with his hand. He didn’t feel
hot. Jeff had never seen Kenton mad, but he had Michael, and he was afraid, and his heart beat faster. Kenton
waited in silence. “I am feeling bad, Kenton, but not like you mean,” Jeff said, breaking the silence. Kenton
was confused. “Tell me, Jeff, I can take it.” “I’m sorry, Kenton, but I lied to you. Please don’t be mad.” Jeff
was pleading. “Listen, Jeff, I will never, ever do to you what Michael has done.” Kenton stroked Jeff’s cheeks
and continued. “Whatever you think you’ve done to me, I can handle it, and you are already forgiven. Let me
help you, Jeff.”
Jeff closed his eyes and spoke very quietly, so quietly that Kenton could barely hear him. Jeff spoke
very slowly. “I was never accepted to Stanford. I never applied. I made it up. I was planning to leave right
after graduation and maybe go to California. I didn’t know. I didn’t have a plan. I just knew that I was going.”
Jeff paused before continuing. “I’m not sorry that I lied to Michael, but I am sorry that I lied to you, Kenton.”
Kenton was silent. This poor kid had been keeping so much to himself, so much hurt inside him. Kenton’s
silence worried Jeff. He opened his eyes. “Oh, Jeff, I’m sorry. I can assure you that I’m not upset at all. I’m
sorry that you had no one to talk to, no one to confide in, no one to share all this hurt with, and on top of it all,
you were in physical pain.” Kenton leaned down and hugged Jeff. Then he spoke. “I understand, Jeff. I
understand.” Kenton sat up again. “Had you wanted to attend college, Jeff? You know you are in control of
your trust fund now. Your grades are excellent.” Kenton had taken Jeff to the bank on his eighteenth birthday,
and had allowed him the privacy to speak with one of the vice presidents as they completed the paperwork
regarding his trust fund. Kenton didn’t know how much money was in Jeff’s trust fund and he didn’t feel that
he needed to know. “Kenton, do you want me to leave now, since I can financially do so?” “Oh, Jeff, I don’t
ever want you to leave. I love you. I want you to be happy, and be well. There are many colleges right here in
Philadelphia that you can attend, and you are welcome to continue to live here indefinitely. I love having you
here and sharing your life.” Kenton hoped this provided Jeff some assurance. “Do you really mean that
Kenton?” Jeff wanted to be sure. “Yes, Jeff, I really mean that. I will always tell you the truth.” “Thank you,
Kenton. There are a few guys from school that I know who are going to Penn. I think I’d like to do that. Do
you think it’s too late?” Kenton held Jeff’s hand. “We’ll go see tomorrow, Jeff. I’m an alum of Penn and that
may help. But if it is too late, there is always the spring semester.” Jeff leaned up and hugged Kenton, not
saying a word. Jeff was tired from all the worrying he had done, and was almost asleep as they talked. Kenton
told him to get some sleep and excused himself. He called one of his colleagues to trade shifts with him the
following day so that he and Jeff could go to Penn in the morning.
Penn was thrilled to accept someone of Jeff’s caliber. His grades were impeccable, and Kenton’s
influence didn’t hurt. Jeff was happy to be staying with Kenton. He finally felt that life was worth living.
Kenton still worried about Jeff, however. Jeff had been through so much in such a short time, and his life had
been less than ideal. Maybe I should take him on a real vacation, to celebrate his achievements, Kenton
thought. Kenton had plenty of vacation time. He hadn’t been out of Philly for years.
When Kenton asked Jeff if he would like to take a vacation, he was thrilled. “You mean you want to
take a vacation with me, Kenton?” “Yes, Jeff. Who else would I rather spend my hard earned time off with?”
Jeff just smiled. Kenton then told Jeff that his grandparents had owned a vineyard in Sonoma County,
California, just a couple of hours out of from San Francisco. His parents had chosen to ranch in Wyoming, but
had never sold the old Victorian house that stood on a hill overlooking its beloved harvest. Jeff knew that that
wasn’t too far from Stanford and looked worried. “What is it, Jeff? Tell me what I said that obviously upset
you,” Kenton pleaded. “Nothing,” Jeff lied. Kenton stood in from of Jeff and held his arms. “Tell me, please.
You can do it, Jeff.” “That’s not far from Stanford,” he said. Kenton thought about Jeff’s statement for a
minute. Then it came to him. “It’s not far from Stanford, Jeff, and no, I am not wishing that you were going
there. The Bay Area is beautiful and I want you to see it. I am not trying to ‘get rid of you’ and I never will.”
Kenton was direct and Jeff appreciated that. “How ‘bout it, a nice relaxing vacation, just you and me?” “I’d
like that, Kenton.” Jeff knew by now that Kenton wouldn’t hurt him, would always be honest with him, and
would definitely make certain that he took good care of his health.
The skies over Philadelphia were beautiful as the plane ascended, not a cloud in the sky. Kenton had
surprised Jeff with a first class flight, nonstop, to a place that held very fond memories for Kenton. He had
spent a part of every summer at his grandparents’ home on the vineyard. His grandfather had worked hard in
the vineyards owned by others until he had been able to buy his own, and then he continued to work hard
turning that vineyard into a goldmine. Kenton’s parents had leased it to a nice couple who loved it almost as
much as Kenton’s grandparents had. They would have loved to buy it, but Kenton’s parents were not quite
ready to sell. They kept a pretty close watch over it, although they trusted the couple leasing it completely with
its management.
Jeff was quiet as he stared out the window as the plane headed westward. Kenton squeezed Jeff’s leg,
and Jeff smiled at him. Kenton leaned his chair back and closed his eyes. It was going to be a long flight, and
Kenton was tired. Jeff wasn’t the only one who had been through a lot in a short time. As he thought about the
events of the last year, Kenton wondered why he had wanted to change anything about his boring life. Boring
wasn’t all that bad, he thought. Still, he wouldn’t have changed the events of the past year for anything, now
that he had Jeff. He was such a good kid. Kenton couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to hurt him. There were so
many things he would love to know about Jeff. He wondered if he had ever had a girlfriend, and what his hopes
and dreams had been and continued to be. Kenton would wait, though. He would wait for the right time and
the right place.
The plane began its descent and as it continued its downward spiral, Jeff looked out the window and was
in awe of the beauty that had been painted on this natural canvass. So this is the Bay Area, he thought. It
definitely was beautiful. Kenton was describing the diversity of the cities that comprised the Bay Area. San
Francisco, of course, is the cultural and financial center of the Bay Area, San Jose is the center of that world
famous high technology region known as Silicon Valley, Oakland is home to manufacturing in the region as
well as the Raiders, and the smaller communities each held their own unique charm.
Kenton was especially excited to share with Jeff one such community. Kenton’s grandfather felt as if
Sonoma had been his surrogate hometown. Kenton described Sonoma to Jeff just as his grandfather had to him
years ago. Sonoma Valley is the birthplace of the California wine industry, and is home to some of the earliest
vineyards and wineries in California. Sonoma is historically significant to Sonoma Valley, as its historic town
plaza represents a remnant of Sonoma’s Spanish colonial past. The pride as well as serenity present in Kenton’s
face as he recounted the fun he had had while accompanying his grandfather to the grand festivals and too-
numerous-to-count year round events in Sonoma did not go unnoticed by Jeff. Kenton’s family had offered
tours of their own vineyards to the many tourists that came to the valley every year. Obviously happy here, Jeff
wondered why Kenton had chosen a university on the other side of the country. He wondered why he hadn’t
gone to school in San Francisco.
After they had claimed their luggage, they got into the rental car that Kenton had had arranged and
headed toward Kenton’s obviously beloved childhood second home. “I didn’t plan to stop in San Francisco,
Jeff, unless you wanted to. I do want you to see some of the landmarks that symbolize the great diversity of the
people of our nation. Many, including myself, consider San Francisco the birthplace and center of gay pride.”
Jeff looked at Kenton and saw that same look of pride that he had seen when Kenton had spoken of his beloved
wine country. Kenton wasn’t ashamed of being gay, Jeff was thinking. He seemed to embrace it and was proud
of its history. “It takes awhile to get around San Francisco but once we do, it will only take about an hour’s
drive until we arrive at the old homestead,” Kenton announced proudly. Jeff just smiled. They traveled in
relative silence to the vineyard. Both were lost in their own thoughts. Kenton hoped that Jeff would be able to
find strength from his country home, just as he had.
Kenton turned onto a winding, twisting, turning road that seemed to go on for miles. The scenery was
beautiful, and Jeff couldn’t take his eyes off of it. “We’re almost there, Jeff,” Kenton announced, and turned
onto the lane to the house. They entered through a gateway with the words, “Weston Vineyard”, on the top and
Jeff was impressed. The vineyard was beautiful, in full bloom, and hidden from the world was an old Victorian
home that looked to Jeff as if it were a painting, a Normal Rockwell painting. Kenton looked over at Jeff.
“What do you think?” “It’s gorgeous, Kenton,” Jeff replied. He couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to leave such
a house surrounded by nature in all its glory. Kenton’s father had offered the couple leasing the place a fully
paid trip to Cancun which they gratefully accepted. Jeff was shocked when he heard this. “Your dad did that
for people he didn’t really know that well?” he asked. “That’s dad, Jeff, all heart.” Kenton smiled. His parents
had done so much for so many.
Kenton parked the car, and he and Jeff carried their bags into the house. As they stepped inside, Kenton
and Jeff were both impressed. “They’ve taken good care of the place,” Kenton remarked. “It’s beautiful,
Kenton. Was it like this when you were a kid?” Kenton looked around. “It’s pretty much the same. It’s a
mixture of old and new. I guess this must have been the inspiration for my own decorative tastes. You know,
Jeff, I just now realized that, because of you.” Kenton put his arm around Jeff, and it was at that moment that
he wished he had known Jeff longer. Oh well, we have the future, he thought. “Let me show you around,”
Kenton offered, and led Jeff into the back of the house to what was once his grandmother’s kitchen. It was big
and sunny, with a combination family and sun room attached, which gave it the feeling of an outdoor kitchen.
Kenton explained to Jeff the love that had built this beautiful attachment. “Grandpa built this so that Grandma
could look out at the beautiful grounds while she baked, and she baked a lot.” Kenton patted his stomach as he
said this. “It’s a wonder I’m not three feet wide,” he laughed.
Kenton continued with the tour which led to the double staircase to the upper floor, accessed from both
ends of a kitchen which seemed to go on forever. There were five bedrooms, two masters and three regular
sized. Kenton laughed as he set his luggage down in one of the masters. “You know, I believe I just had
another epiphany, Jeff. I chose a house with two masters, too.” He put his arm around Jeff’s shoulder. “Let’s
put you next to me. It’s a smaller room, but it’s okay, isn’t it, or we can switch if you like.” “It’s fine, Kenton,”
Jeff replied. It was at least twice as large as his room had been when he had lived with Michael.
Jeff sat on the bed and held his head. It was the first time he had thought of Michael in a long time. He
didn’t know if he should feel guilty for not thinking about him, or proud of himself for not thinking about him.
Kenton sat on the bed beside him. “You okay? It’s been a long day, Jeff. Let me get your medication so you
can rest.” Kenton left the room and Jeff undressed and snuggled into the cozy bed. By the time Kenton
returned with the medication which Jeff took for his kidneys, he was asleep. Kenton tucked the blanket around
Jeff and kissed the top of his head. He left a light on at the end of the hall in case Jeff woke up in the night.
This was a big house and unfamiliar to Jeff.
Kenton unpacked and returned to the kitchen. He made himself a cup of decaf and sat in the family
room which held so many memories. It was soon dark, and Kenton was tired. He went back upstairs, checked
on Jeff, and then settled in for a much needed sleep.
The following day, Kenton shared his childhood vacation land with Jeff. They walked across the
beautifully manicured lawns that Kenton remembered so well, and he was happy to see how well they had been
preserved. Jeff loved walking over the countryside. He hadn’t walked so much in his life but soon grew
accustomed to it. He felt better than he ever had, and the fresh air was a welcome change from the smog of the
city. It was quiet here, too, and peaceful. The sun was shining brightly, and Jeff could have walked forever.
The subtle hills and valleys stretched over the land like a handmade quilt casually thrown on a bed. “How far
does your land go?” he asked in awe. “I’d say approximately twenty square miles,” Kenton said proudly. Then
he thought how selfish he had been and worried about Jeff’s health. “Are you getting tired? I’m sorry, Jeff. I
didn’t even think.” “I’m fine, Kenton. I love walking. It seems to help my entire body feel better.” Kenton
looked at Jeff. He didn’t appear to be tiring. He really did look better. Perhaps this vacation was just what the
doctor ordered. “Well, I’m tired, Jeff. We’ve been out here longer than I had expected, and now we get the
pleasure of walking all the way back. I had no idea it was getting so late. This old man just doesn’t have the
stamina he once had.” Kenton laughed, and Jeff smiled at him. Jeff didn’t think Kenton was old. He thought
of him more as a friend than a surrogate father. They walked back in silence. Kenton occasionally asked a
question or made a comment, but Jeff was lost in his own thoughts. Kenton looked at Jeff and wondered why
he made no comments. He seemed okay. He’s probably just thinking about something, Kenton said to himself.
He was dying to know what was consuming all of Jeff’s thoughts.
Once back at the house, Kenton prepared his world famous spaghetti and meatballs while Jeff showered.
They made small talk while they ate, and still Kenton thought Jeff was unusually quiet. “Are you okay, Jeff?”
“I’m okay, Kenton.” Kenton decided to drop it. He had learned from being a physician that sometimes young
people preferred to keep their thoughts to themselves. “Well, kid, I’m going to bed,” Kenton announced.
“These old bones get tired quicker than they once did.” Kenton headed up the stairs to shower before going to
bed, but Jeff said he was going to read awhile. “See you in the morning, buddy,” Kenton’s words faded as he
disappeared from Jeff’s view.
Jeff closed his eyes. He was torn by his own thoughts. I must be nuts, he thought. Why am I having
these thoughts? It’s not right. Is it normal? Kenton would surely disown me if he knew. After about an hour,
Jeff headed up the stairs to his room. He undressed and got into bed, but he did not go to sleep. He couldn’t
sleep. His mind was too full. He tried to make these thoughts go away, but he couldn’t. They only intensified.
Jeff got out of bed and walked to the door of Kenton’s room. He looked in and noticed that Kenton was
sleeping. Kenton was naked, at least from the waist up, which is where the covers stopped. Jeff slowly and
quietly walked into Kenton’s room and stood at the foot of the bed. As Jeff watched the rise and fall of
Kenton’s chest with his slow steady breathing, he wondered what comprised Kenton’s thoughts. Did he always
see the world through the eyes of a physician, or were there times when he thought of life in its simplest and
most natural form?
After watching Kenton for awhile, Jeff walked around to the side of the bed opposite from where
Kenton was sleeping, and quietly climbed into bed. He pulled the covers up over his naked body and lay on his
back staring up at the ceiling. He squeezed his eyes shut tight as if to give himself courage. Turning onto his
side, he moved closer to Kenton until he was close enough to put his arm over him and rest it on Kenton’s chest.
Kenton was immediately awakened when he felt Jeff’s hand on his chest. He turned onto his back. “Jeff, are
you okay, are you feeling okay?” Jeff’s hand did not leave Kenton’s chest as he said, “I don’t think of you as
an old man, Kenton”, and then kissed him on the mouth. Kenton could feel Jeff’s erection against his thigh and
realized that he was naked. Jeff was trying to open Kenton’s mouth with his own, as he slowly moved his hand
downward along Kenton’s chest. Kenton was in a state of shock as well as panic. Jeff’s hand was just inches
from discovering that Kenton wasn’t only naked from the waist up, when Kenton placed his hands on Jeff’s
upper arms and gently rolled him onto his side. Kenton tucked the sheet underneath his own body at the waist
and spoke as softly as he could, given his state of shock. “Jeff, I don’t understand. Talk to me.” Kenton in no
way wanted to embarrass Jeff or make him feel that he was in any danger of being rejected as a person. Kenton
knew he had to tread lightly right now. Jeff’s eyes were wide and his heart beating as fast as Kenton’s.
Kenton released his hand from Jeff’s arm and stroked it with smooth soothing strokes. “I’m not upset,
Jeff, I just don’t understand,” Kenton assured him. “I don’t know, Kenton. I don’t know why, I just know how
I feel.” Jeff said the words so quietly that Kenton could barely hear them. “I don’t know when it began, but I
think it was a long time ago.” Jeff was quiet as he watched Kenton’s eyes, hoping for some sign of
reciprocation of his feelings, enjoying the feel of Kenton’s hand as it stroked his arm. He wanted Kenton to
touch every part of him. He came alive when he was near Kenton, and didn’t want that feeling to ever end. The
simple brush of Kenton’s hand on his hair, the touch of Kenton’s hand on his shoulder, or the touch of Kenton’s
hand on his cheek had stirred in Jeff emotions he doubted had existed. Never aroused by the few girls he had
dated in high school, Jeff’s feelings of arousal had only been realized when he was with Kenton.
Kenton was studying Jeff’s face as Jeff was studying his. Kenton, however, had no idea what he was
looking for. He was confused. What would a young man like Jeff see in someone twenty years his senior? As
he stroked Jeff’s arm, Kenton suddenly wanted to know all of Jeff’s thoughts about the two of them. “Kenton,
do you hate me?” Jeff asked, with complete vulnerability. He looked so innocent, his question as simple as a
child’s. Kenton pulled Jeff to him and held him close, their naked chests forcing their hardened nipples
together. Jeff’s body ached for Kenton, though Kenton was unaware of how much. With his head over Jeff’s
shoulder, Kenton answered his question. “No, Jeff I don’t hate you, and I never will. I simply had no idea you
were having these thoughts and feelings, but you have nothing to be ashamed about if shame is what you are
feeling. You can talk to me about anything, as I have said. I simply was not prepared to hear this.”
Kenton continued holding Jeff, but backed up enough to look at him face to face. He was still trying to
find something in Jeff’s eyes that hadn’t been there until tonight, but could not find that something. Kenton
stroked Jeff’s back, unaware that his slightest touch aroused Jeff. Jeff shivered and thinking that he was cold,
Kenton pulled the blanket over them both. Jeff wanted to touch Kenton, but did he dare? How did Kenton feel
about him? “Kenton?” he asked rather than stated. “Yes, Jeff?” Kenton replied with those sensuous lips that
Jeff had tasted just minutes ago. “Are you rejecting me?” Kenton did love Jeff and found him attractive and
whether he chose to admit it or not, there had been times when he had fantasized about him sexually. He had
until tonight been able to quickly clear his mind of these thoughts, realizing that he had always been attracted to
younger men. But now his fantasy had become reality and was in his bed. How could they be lovers after all
they had been through as surrogate father and son? The dynamics of their relationship would change
completely, and what if it didn’t work out? Someone was bound to get hurt. Jeff was so young. How could he
be so sure? Was he thinking that he felt more than he really did? “Kenton?” Jeff asked again. “I’m sorry, Jeff.
I was somewhere else, I guess. No Jeff, I’m not rejecting you. I do care about you and you know that,” Kenton
replied. “And I am attracted to you, Jeff. There have been times that I have fantasized about you in just this
way.” Jeff’s eyes told Kenton that he was thrilled at these words, and moved close to kiss Kenton. “Hold on,
Jeff,” Kenton said as he stopped him. “Baby, we’ve so much to discuss first.” “We can work it out, Kenton.
I’m not a child,” Jeff said, with all the enthusiastic abandon of a person of his years. “Oh, Jeff,” Kenton said as
he hugged him again. With his head on Jeff’s shoulder, he spoke further. “Baby, our relationship would
change so much, and I wouldn’t want you to get hurt as a result of the change,” he offered. “We can take things
one day at a time, Kenton. We could figure things out.” Jeff was holding Kenton now, loving the feel of his
skin under his hands.
Kenton and Jeff remained as they were, each holding the other, feeling the same feelings, though neither
thinking the same thoughts. Jeff was feeling so much love for Kenton and thinking about their wonderful future
together. Kenton was feeling love for Jeff, but thinking of the harm that could come from this relationship,
hurting both of them.
After several minutes had passed, Kenton lifted his head from Jeff’s shoulder and kissed his cheek.
Slowly he moved his lips toward Jeff’s eagerly awaiting mouth and when his lips met Jeff’s, he kissed them
gently and lovingly. He kept his eyes closed. He needed to know if his feelings for Jeff were as real as he
thought they were or if his attraction to Jeff was solely based on age, as Kenton knew his strong attraction to
younger men.
As Kenton kissed Jeff’s sweet young lips, his doubts began to melt away. His lips now knew the touch
of Jeff, and the remainder of Kenton’s body was eagerly awaiting its turn to know the same pleasure. Kenton’s
now forceful lips were opening Jeff’s mouth, and his chest forcing Jeff onto his back. Kenton’s hands were in
Jeff’s hair, on Jeff’s face, and stroking Jeff’s arms until they were intertwined with Jeff’s fingers. With his
hands on Jeff’s, Kenton lifted them up and over Jeff’s head and onto the pillow. Kenton had never felt this way.
He wanted all of Jeff. He kissed Jeff hard and sucked Jeff’s tongue into his mouth, holding it there, tasting it,
loving it. Kenton kicked back all that covered the two of them, broke the kiss with the same intensity as he had
started it, and straddled Jeff. Resting on his knees, Kenton now allowed himself what he had been denied. He
opened his eyes and looked at Jeff. Clearly in the position of dominance with his hands holding Jeff’s down on
the pillow above his head and straddling his pelvis, Kenton waited for Jeff to look at him. Jeff’s mouth
remained open, his breaths coming fast, as he awaited the next sensual pleasure that Kenton would offer.
Kenton looked at Jeff’s body as it lay beneath him. His skin still shone like that of the early morning dew
gently kissed by the first rays of the sun. No creases were present on Jeff’s body, as Kenton’s body so boldly
bore. Jeff’s erection equaled his own as they both lay atop Jeff’s perfect skin. Kenton’s eyes wandered upward
to where Jeff’s nipples stood complete in their own erections, perfect in their own right.
Kenton’s eyes met Jeff’s now open eyes, and in those eyes Kenton saw clearly the look of youth but also
the look of maturity, a knowing look. Kenton did not see doubt in those eyes. In those eyes Kenton saw the
look of love, and felt his own heart begin to beat faster. He bent down and kissed Jeff’s welcoming lips.
Although Jeff’s hands were being held down by Kenton’s, his ability to love was in no way compromised. Jeff
kissed Kenton with the complete abandon that is known only to those whose memories did not register past
loves lost. Kenton welcomed such a lover and as he continued to enjoy the love freely given by Jeff’s lips,
Kenton could not deny his heart its strongest desire. Kenton was in love with Jeff.
Determined to give Jeff the love he deserved, Kenton freed Jeff’s hands and once again lay on his side
next to Jeff as he lay on his back in anticipation of Kenton’s love. With his lips never leaving Jeff’s, Kenton lay
with his chest on Jeff’s. Kenton slid his hand down along Jeff’s side until it found Jeff’s inner thigh. Kenton’s
kissing was gentler now, as he focused on giving Jeff the physical pleasure that he deserved. Kenton massaged
Jeff’s inner thigh, moving his hand toward that sensitive area that was certain to bring Jeff pleasure. Kenton’s
hand cupped Jeff’s balls and when he squeezed them upwardly, Jeff gasped. When Kenton began to massage
beneath, Jeff spread his legs wide and moaned. He was no longer able to continue kissing Kenton. His mouth
would not move. He had never felt this, and never wanted it to end. Kenton laid his head on Jeff’s shoulder
and kissed his neck, while he reached deeply beneath Jeff’s balls increasing the stimulation. With his fingers
spread apart, Kenton teased Jeff’s inner thighs while increasing the massage between. Jeff’s arms were around
Kenton now, holding him close. Jeff tried to say Kenton’s name, but only the K sound escaped his lips. Kenton
was massaging slowly but deeply from underneath Jeff’s balls, and with every stroke nearing the place that
Kenton knew had never been entered. When he heard Jeff try to call his name, Kenton allowed his lips to leave
Jeff’s neck just long enough to whisper in his ear. “What is it, baby? You okay?” Jeff’s response came as a
gasp. “Yes,” he said, and spread his legs wider. Kenton’s mouth was eagerly awaiting the taste and feel of
Jeff’s erection and when Kenton felt that Jeff was ready for the intensity that this new sensation would bring, he
gently kissed Jeff’s mouth and laid his head on Jeff’s abdomen and welcomed his erection into its new home.
After Jeff’s erection was completely engulfed, Kenton closed his mouth around its deliciousness and with one
hand around Jeff’s buttock and the other never having stopped its intense stimulation he slowly sucked this
hardened entity into his mouth and then allowed it to escape. As Kenton continued these motions again and
again, Jeff not only gasped and moaned, but he began to raise his pelvis in anticipation of each new entrance
into Kenton’s mouth. Jeff knew that he was very near climax, and with Kenton intensifying his sucking he
could not stop the intense explosion that was imminent. “Kenton,” he exclaimed loudly. Kenton knew what
that meant and with one final forced entry of Jeff’s erection along with the deepest stimulation below, Kenton
welcomed Jeff’s explosion and did all he could to make it as intense as possible. Jeff’s loud moans were all that
Kenton needed to hear to know that his goal had been accomplished. Kenton continued until Jeff’s explosion
was complete and Jeff was gasping for air.
Kenton laid his head on Jeff’s shoulder once again and kissed his neck. He held Jeff in a most loving
embrace and spoke softly into his ear. “I love you, Jeff.” Jeff couldn’t believe it. He thought he had misheard.
“What, Kenton?” Kenton leaned up on his elbows and held Jeff’s face in his hands. “Yes, Jeff. I love you,”
Kenton proclaimed without hesitation. “Oh, Kenton,” Jeff said in response.
Suddenly aware of Kenton’s throbbing hard-on next to his leg, Jeff reached down and grasped it firmly
within his hand. The surprise of this action caused Kenton to gasp as he continued holding Jeff’s face. As
Kenton’s grasp on his face weakened, Jeff pulled Kenton’s head down and kissed him as he intensified his hold
on Kenton’s erection. Kenton’s body was weak under Jeff’s control. His mouth lay open on Jeff’s. Jeff began
to masturbate Kenton and as he did, Kenton was helpless to move except to lay his head over Jeff’s shoulder
gasping for air. Jeff wanted to do more to please Kenton, though Kenton was already lost in the sensual
pleasure that Jeff was providing. Jeff reached further so that he could feel what he had dreamed of for so long.
As his hand wrapped around Kenton’s balls and held them tightly, Kenton began to tremble. Once again he
straddled Jeff and leaned forward, his body aching for Jeff’s touch. Jeff was eager to provide Kenton the same
pleasurable feelings that Kenton had earlier provided him and with his hand firmly around Kenton’s balls, he
reached a bit further and massaged Kenton with deep intense strokes. Kenton moaned and as Jeff continued, he
moaned even louder. As Jeff alternated masturbating Kenton with providing an ever intensifying massage,
Kenton was struggling to control his own climax, something he hadn’t had to do in a long time. Jeff’s massage
led him to a place that Kenton hadn’t had filled in far too long. Jeff let his hand separate Kenton’s buttocks
completely as it slid between, stopping just long enough to allow a finger to enter if only a little. He began the
massage once again, and entered and withdrew again and again. Kenton almost came. “Damn, Jeff,” he said,
and tried to force Jeff’s finger back into its rightful home. Kenton could hardly wait for the time when Jeff
would enter him fully with his own erection. Kenton’s climax was well on its way now and he urged Jeff to
masturbate him. “Harder, Jeff,” he said as he moved with Jeff. “That’s it, Jeff, like that.” Jeff increased his
intensity and Kenton held him tightly as he came with a force that surprised them both. Kenton moaned and
gasped and said, “Jeff”, over and over. Nothing about the two of them together like this was embarrassing to
either. This felt natural. This was meant to be. With Kenton’s climax complete, his knees weak, he stretched
his body over Jeff’s and kissed him a long lingering kiss that was the kiss of lovers.
Jeff was kissing him back now, with an intensity that Kenton wasn’t expecting after lovemaking.
Kenton found the kissing stimulating and energizing. He kissed Jeff’s cheeks and forehead, and then returned
to his open mouth. He kissed Jeff’s neck and shoulders before returning again and again to Jeff’s always
awaiting mouth. “Kenton, I.…” “Mm, I see,” he said, forgetting Jeff’s youth. Jeff could do something that
Kenton no longer could. His erection had returned. “What shall we do?” Kenton teased. Jeff was too turned on
to be embarrassed. “Let me show you,” he answered.
He slipped out from underneath Kenton and spread his buttocks. Kenton rested his body on his legs as
he eagerly awaited Jeff’s entrance. Jeff held Kenton’s spread buttocks enjoying the feel of them and slid his
fingers between them. Kenton’s breathing quickened. Jeff entered him slowly and deeply, enjoying this feeling
so new to him, to the fullest. Kenton bit his lip to keep from screaming. Jeff entered him more deeply than he
had anticipated. Kenton moaned and once again called Jeff’s name many times. Jeff closed his eyes. As he
continued to enter Kenton, he proclaimed his love for him. “I love you, Kenton.” Kenton needed to hear these
words, and he realized that it was from Jeff that he needed to hear them. Kenton had never had a lover who
satisfied him as completely as Jeff had. Kenton was fully satisfied as Jeff’s climax was completed. Afterward,
they lay together holding each other, neither letting go of the other.
They lay sleeping in each other’s arms until the morning sun came streaming into the room. Jeff woke
first to enjoy the beauty of Kenton’s skin as the sun shone in. To Jeff, Kenton did not look much older than he.
To Jeff, Kenton looked beautiful. Everything about Kenton was beautiful. Kenton had told Jeff something that
he had not expected to hear so soon. Kenton had told Jeff that he loved him, and that was all Jeff needed to
know.
Kenton awoke to find Jeff looking at him. He didn’t say anything for awhile, but watched Jeff. Jeff was
happy, and Kenton would do anything to ensure Jeff’s happiness. Kenton had admitted to himself and to Jeff
last night that which he had thought he was not yet prepared to admit to either. He loved Jeff. He loved Jeff not
only as a surrogate father, but also as a lover. Had he crossed a line last night? There was no turning back now,
not that Kenton wanted to turn back. He did not. But had their roles changed, and did roles matter anyway?
This was life, not a Broadway play.
“Some night, huh?” Kenton’s words caught Jeff by surprise. “Oh, yes it was,” Jeff replied. They
continued to lie together as they talked about their plans for the day. Kenton had spoken to his parents shortly
before leaving Philadelphia. They were eager to meet Jeff, but thought of him as their new grandson, not as
Kenton’s lover. Kenton hadn’t informed Jeff of his parents’ visit until now. After weighing the pros and the
cons of the situation, Kenton and Jeff had not reached a decision regarding how to handle what could be a very
awkward situation for everyone. My parents will probably be very accepting of the situation, as they have been
very accepting of everything I have done and every partner of mine that they have known, Kenton thought.
Wise beyond his years, Jeff asked Kenton if it were necessary to explain their relationship at the present
time. “Let’s just be us,” he offered. “You’re right, Jeff,” Kenton agreed. Jeff and Kenton complemented each
other in more ways than they had realized. Kenton wanted to be sure that Jeff was okay with his parents
visiting before giving them a definite response. “From what you’ve told me, Kenton, I think I will like them
very much.” Kenton knew he would and more importantly, he knew that his parents would like Jeff. When
Kenton called them, they said they would be there in a couple of days and were looking forward to meeting Jeff.
Kenton showered, and then made breakfast while he waited for Jeff to come downstairs. He drank his
coffee while staring out at the picturesque land before him. Kenton loved this place. He now wondered why he
had left and moved so far away. He had been young and idealistic, and had had his heart set on being the best
transplant surgeon in the country. As he sat and relaxed in the beautiful sunroom his grandfather had built, he
realized the strain the life of a surgeon had become. He felt old, and the vitality he had seen in Jeff last night
was yet another reminder of the passing years. He loved Jeff and would do anything for him. He had to wonder
what Jeff saw in him though.
As Kenton stepped back into the kitchen to pour himself a second cup of coffee, he looked at the clock.
An hour had gone by and still no Jeff. He called upstairs. No answer. Kenton walked upstairs. “Jeff?” Still
no answer. He could hear the water of the shower. The shower door was closed and Kenton could see Jeff’s
silhouette, but he was sitting. Kenton pulled the shower door open and turned off the water. Jeff was huddled
on the floor of the shower barely conscious. “Jeff,” Kenton shouted and gently slapped his face to wake him
up. He opened his eyes to see a blurry Kenton. “Kenton?” “Yes, Jeff, what happened?” Jeff leaned on
Kenton’s arm. He was so weak he could barely move. Kenton pulled Jeff to him and held him. “Jeff, I’m
going to carry you back to the bed, okay?” Jeff mumbled something that Kenton could not understand. He felt
the back of Jeff’s head. It wasn’t bleeding, but he may have hit it hard. Kenton had a hard time carrying Jeff to
the bed. Jeff was so weak that he could not help. Once on the bed, Kenton covered him up. “What happened,
buddy?” Jeff tried to stay with him, but he seemed to be going in and out of consciousness. “I was fine and
then you were waking me up,” Jeff replied. Kenton tried to think of what could have caused this. It finally hit
him like a dagger to his very soul. Jeff’s body was rejecting the transplant kidney. Oh, no, he thought. I’ve got
to get him to San Francisco.
He dried Jeff’s body and dressed him as fast as he could. Then he carried him down the stairs and into
the car. He laid him on the seat so that his head could rest on Kenton’s leg. He held Jeff with one hand and
drove with the other. Jeff was unconscious at this point, and Kenton drove as fast as he safely could. Kenton
was scared. He looked down at Jeff occasionally, hoping for some kind of response. There was none. Kenton
could feel tears welling up in his eyes each time he glanced at Jeff’s beautiful young face. Last night was too
much for Jeff. I should have known that. Kenton blamed himself for this. This was all his fault. Jeff had
placed his trust in Kenton. I should have taken better care, he thought.
As they pulled into the emergency entrance of the University of San Francisco’s medical center, Kenton
carried Jeff’s lifeless body inside. He knew he should have waited for the emergency room personnel, but he
was in too big a hurry. Staff members met Kenton at the door and had Jeff brought back immediately. Kenton
explained what he thought had happened and informed them that he was Dr. Kenton Weston, the transplant
surgeon who had performed Jeff’s surgery. Fortunately, he was able to recount in detail Jeff’s medical history.
Kenton stayed by Jeff’s side as they drew blood work and various other tests to determine what had happened.
The head of neurosurgery came in and explained to Kenton that Jeff had had a mild concussion. His lab tests
indicated dehydration which could have explained his weakness and subsequent fall. Kenton held his head in
his hands. He was dehydrated because of me, he thought in self blame. “Once we get some fluids in him, he
should come around,” the doctor assured Kenton. “He’s a lucky young man to have you as his uncle,” he
added. Kenton didn’t know what to put on the form, so he had named himself Jeff’s uncle. He was surprised
they hadn’t questioned him about performing the surgery if he was related to the patient. Jeff would be able to
go home later today but should be watched carefully throughout the day. Kenton loved Jeff, and also felt
responsible for him. Right now, however, what Kenton felt was failure.
“What is this, get it off me,” Jeff was waking up now and frightened. Kenton sat on the bed beside him
and held him still. “It’s okay, Jeff. You’re okay. Let me explain.” Jeff’s heart was beating fast as Kenton
explained. He explained to Jeff that he had become weak from dehydration, had fallen in the shower and
suffered a minor concussion. Jeff relaxed, and thanked Kenton for taking such good care of him. If I had taken
better care we wouldn’t be here, Kenton thought. Once the neurologist discharged Jeff, they returned to the
house.
It had been a very long day. Jeff was feeling good after the fluid, and wasn’t nearly as tired as Kenton.
Kenton was tired from worrying. Kenton had stopped at one of the great restaurants in the city so that Jeff
would have a readymade meal when they returned home. Kenton heated it up and listened intently as Jeff
talked about how beautiful the Bay Area was, and how he hoped to go back to San Francisco soon. Kenton said
nothing. They made small talk until late in the evening. Kenton was tired and excused himself to go to bed.
Jeff was confused by Kenton’s actions. Kenton doesn’t want me, he thought. Kenton stopped halfway
up the stairs. Jeff can’t be left alone. He came back down and returned to the family room to find Jeff wiping
tears from his face. Oh, I’ve really done it now. I just keep screwing up, Kenton thought. Kenton walked in
and sat down beside Jeff. Jeff hadn’t seen him come in. Kenton took Jeff into his arms and held him tightly.
Jeff’s face was snug against Kenton’s chest. Kenton held him so tightly that he could barely breathe. Kenton
began rocking Jeff from side to side as if he were a baby. “I love you, Jeff, I love you so much,” he said, and
kissed the top of Jeff’s head. Kenton could barely hear Jeff’s muffled words. “What did I do wrong?” “Oh,
Jeff, you’ve done nothing wrong, Jeff, nothing. I love you so much,” Kenton said again and again. Jeff thought
he heard Kenton’s voice quaver and he was right. Kenton was trying hard to keep it together. “Let’s go to bed,
Jeff,” Kenton offered.
It was dark now, and Kenton thought that maybe in the darkness he could explain to Jeff that he had felt
responsible for the event that culminated to an emergency room visit. Perhaps in the darkness Kenton could see
the light that this situation had to offer, if any was in the offing. Jeff undressed completely and got into bed,
waiting for Kenton to do the same. Kenton had locked up and by the time he walked into the room, Jeff was
already in bed. Kenton undressed, though not completely, and slowly got into bed. He lay on his back and
stared at the ceiling. Jeff moved closer and threw his leg over Kenton. He kissed Kenton with the same
abandon that he had last night, and Kenton could not resist. He held Jeff close and kissed him a long lover’s
kiss. He could feel Jeff’s arousal hard against his skin, as Jeff could feel Kenton’s inside the shorts he had not
removed. Jeff slid his hand along Kenton’s side and onto his shorts. “What’s this?” he asked. Kenton gently
rolled Jeff onto his back. “Jeff, I love you so much, and I want you so much that it scares me,” Kenton stated as
he looked directly into Jeff’s eyes. “But?” Jeff asked. “But, I feel responsible for what happened today. I
wanted you, and my desire for you overtook my concern for your health and wellbeing.”
Kenton laid his head on Jeff’s chest. He was exhausted. Jeff played with Kenton’s hair. “It’s not your
fault, Kenton. And, part of my wellbeing includes a healthy sex life, don’t you think?” Yes, Kenton did agree
with this innocence. “I forget sometimes to drink as much fluid as I know I should,” Jeff continued. “But I’m
well hydrated now, probably too hydrated. I should probably do something about that.” Kenton almost
laughed. How could he argue with that? Kenton was enjoying the touch of Jeff’s hands on his neck and his
back and as Jeff’s hands continued their downward journey, Kenton’s erection made itself known. Jeff’s hands
were inside Kenton’s shorts now. “These seem very tight. They weren’t nearly as tight earlier. What has
happened?” he teased. Kenton began to stroke Jeff’s erection, as it was begging for attention right in front of
him. Jeff forced his hand into Kenton’s shorts and continued his deep massage, now of Kenton’s gorgeous ass.
Kenton welcomed Jeff’s erection into his awaiting mouth, as he forced his hand between Jeff’s legs and
spreading them so that he could massage Jeff. Jeff needed no encouragement. His legs were apart as he
welcomed Jeff’s touch deep between them. As he squeezed Kenton’s ass one cheek at a time, Kenton
intensified his massage and sucked hard on Jeff’s erection. Kenton could hear Jeff’s breathing, and as well
could feel Jeff’s heart quicken its pace. Kenton squeezed Jeff’s balls while continuing the other stimulating
sensations, driving Jeff wild. Jeff’s hand was now positioned between Kenton’s buttocks, leisurely gliding
along the sensual path that separated the two supple round entities. Kenton pushed upward to allow Jeff full
access to the treasure he had been seeking, as he anticipated entrance of this very delectable hardness that he
was currently devouring. Kenton involuntarily began to move against Jeff’s hand, begging for more which Jeff
did not withhold. He entered Kenton as he glided his hand between his buttocks, allowing a finger to wander
leisurely and sometimes forcefully into the place that Kenton desperately wanted filled. Kenton loved sucking
Jeff’s dick, but he wanted it deep inside him more than ever.
Kenton placed his mouth on Jeff’s and kissed him hard. “Okay, enough teasing,” he said, struggling to
rid himself of the last bit of clothing. Kenton was straddling Jeff before he knew it, coaxing Jeff’s erection into
where it belonged. Jeff closed his eyes. He would never tire of Kenton. He stroked Kenton’s hardness as he
pushed against Kenton to provide him that deeper pleasure that Jeff knew would give Kenton the pleasure he
deserved. Kenton watched as Jeff’s hands stroked and explored his erection, which was forcing him to fight to
control his climax just as he had fought to control his climax last night. Kenton closed his eyes. Nobody has
made me feel this way, he thought. Kenton clinched as hard as he could as Jeff entered him again and again.
He reached around without Jeff knowing, and massaged him again and squeezed his balls as he forced Jeff’s
throbbing penis deep inside him. Jeff’s eyes opened in surprise. “You like that, baby?” Kenton teased. “Mm,”
was all the response Jeff could provide. He held tighter to Kenton’s erection, but it couldn’t stop what was to
come. Jeff pushed hard against Kenton until he could feel his explosion filling Kenton. “Kenton,” he said.
“Mm, that’s the stuff,” Kenton replied as he enjoyed every minute of Jeff’s climax until it was complete. Jeff’s
legs fell flat on the bed.
Jeff touched Kenton’s chest and tried to pull Kenton toward him. Kenton kissed Jeff until both were
gasping for breath. “Kenton,” Jeff began. Kenton kissed him again. “Kenton,” Jeff said again. “What is it,
baby?” “Enter me, Kenton,” Jeff invited. Kenton almost came at these words. He wanted nothing more than to
be Jeff’s first, but wanted to bring him this most intimate pleasure in a more romantic setting. “Let’s make it
romantic, Jeff, your first time. We’ll go to San Francisco. Believe me, I’m extremely flattered to be your first.”
Kenton kissed him after, that slowly and seductively, a long lover’s kiss full of desire and promise.
Jeff gently encouraged Kenton onto his back beside him. Kenton had no idea what Jeff had planned.
Jeff straddled Kenton and rested on his waist. He massaged Kenton’s inner thighs, and Kenton encouraged
further massage by spreading his legs wide so that Jeff could have easy access to as much of him as he desired.
Jeff knew exactly where to touch Kenton and exactly what pressure to apply to drive him wild. As Jeff
continued his massage, with his free hand he held Kenton’s balls close together and squeezed. Kenton moaned.
Jeff leaned forward so that his ass was arched just enough to show Kenton what could have been his and what
will soon be his. Squeezing Kenton’s balls a second time, Jeff slowly and seductively sucked Kenton’s
throbbing erection into his mouth. He spread his legs apart straddling Kenton so that he could definitely not
miss what Jeff knew he wanted. Kenton did want it. Looking very enticing, Kenton couldn’t help but touch
Jeff. He squeezed Jeff’s perfectly round orbs and slid the tips of his fingers in that area between that was
begging to be touched. Jeff had engulfed Kenton’s entire erection and was stimulating the area beneath his
balls more deeply now, and Kenton found himself yet again desperately trying to control his climax. Kenton
encircled that most intimate area that Jeff had so willingly offered him, wishing now that he hadn’t suggested
waiting. Jeff definitely wanted him. He was sucking harder and harder on Kenton’s dick, and Kenton knew he
wouldn’t last much longer. He gently entered Jeff slowly and deeply with just one finger and Jeff gasped.
Kenton closed his eyes and imagined himself deep within Jeff. As Jeff sucked harder and harder, and as Kenton
imagined his hardness replacing his finger, he came with an intensity which surprised both of them. Kenton had
wanted to at least warn Jeff that his climax was well on its way, but Jeff didn’t seem to mind. Jeff was loving
the feeling of Kenton’s release which he had caused. He continued sucking hard, not letting up, until Kenton’s
once hard dick lay completely flaccid within Jeff’s mouth. Kenton ran his hands along Jeff’s back. “Hey, come
here,” he said breathily.
Jeff lay on the bed beside Kenton. Kenton turned onto his side and kissed Jeff’s cheek. “I love you,” he
said, as he placed his arm across Jeff’s chest. Jeff turned onto his side and placed his arm around Kenton. “I
love you, too, Kenton.” They looked at each other longingly. “San Francisco this weekend, okay?” Jeff asked
with passion in his eyes. “San Francisco,” promised Kenton.
The ringing of the telephone the following morning woke them both from a deep sleep. It was Kenton’s
parents apologizing for not being able to visit over the weekend, and that they would have to wait and come to
visit the first of next week. They had two cows expecting calves and they didn’t feel right about leaving them
with someone else. Kenton understood. They loved their animals. Kenton was grinning when he hung up the
phone. When he told Jeff their reason, he said that he envied Kenton his loving parents. “They sound like
wonderful people,” he said. “They are, baby, they are.” Kenton and Jeff slept awhile longer.
When they woke a second time, Jeff suggested that they go to San Francisco today and get a jump on the
weekend. Kenton kissed his cheek. “Mm, you want me bad, huh?” Jeff blushed. Kenton hadn’t meant to
embarrass him, but thought the blush his remark had caused was sweet. “Sounds great, Jeff. There is a lot
more there than just hospitals. You’ll love it.” After a quick shower, quick breakfast, and packing their
suitcases, they headed out for the big city.
Kenton loved San Francisco and he wanted to share it with Jeff. As they neared the city, Kenton talked
nonstop about the many attributes of San Francisco. He talked of its new age reputation, its being renowned as
among the most liberal areas of the country, its very liberal politics and, as Jeff could clearly see by the homes
they passed on their way to the heart of the city, its affluence. “This is a city of great wealth, Jeff,” Kenton
proclaimed. “I can see that,” he answered, not taking his eyes off the beautiful homes they passed. “Its
population density is the second highest in North America, with New York City being the first,” Kenton further
shared.
Kenton drove and drove, sharing with Jeff some of the cultural landmarks of the city. He drove to the
corner of Haight-Ashbury which needed no explanation, not even to someone of Jeff’s young age. “It would
have been something to have been here during the tumultuous 1960s and 1970s, wouldn’t it, Kenton?” Kenton
had thought that many times. “It sure would have been. We would have been right there with them, fighting
for gay rights.” They rode in silence for awhile as Kenton drove through the district, thinking how far they had
come toward achieving gay rights and how far they still had to go until those rights were fully realized. Kenton
drove by the office building where Harvey Milk had been killed. Jeff had known about Harvey Milk, and had
toured the Harvey Milk High School in New York City a few years ago. “He was definitely a pioneer, wasn’t
he?” Jeff added. “Sure was, he sure was,” Kenton answered. Kenton had been back East for so long that he had
forgotten how completely different the two coasts were in terms of liberalism and conservatism. They were as
different as night and day.
The weather was ideal today. They drove with the windows down, enjoying the sunshine that reached
its warm rays inside the car to warm then as if it were a blanket. After two hours of touring the city, Kenton
drove to the hotel where he had booked a penthouse suite overlooking a great deal of what they had just seen.
Kenton opened the door to the most beautiful suite he had ever seen. Just like his home in Philly and the
house in the vineyard, this suite was a perfect mix of old world charm and contemporary décor. The bar and
kitchenette combo led to a cozy sunken living room that offered three different breathtaking views of the city.
A short hallway separated the living room from the bedroom which was amazing, with one wall comprising a
view of the magnificence of the San Francisco Bay. “This is gorgeous,” Jeff announced as he gazed out the
window overlooking the Bay. “No, this is gorgeous,” Kenton said as he squeezed Jeff’s ass. “You had your
chance, big boy,” Jeff teased. “That I did,” Kenton teased back. They unpacked their bags and then Kenton
surprised Jeff with two tickets to a night of gay comedians, from the famous to the not so famous, showing just
two blocks away. “You’ll love this,” he promised. Jeff was certain he would. He would have enjoyed doing
anything with Kenton.
Kenton was as excited for Jeff to see the great numbers of gay couples filling the theater house as he was
for the actual show. Jeff did notice the couples. There were men holding hands, women holding hands, and
heterosexual couples as well. Diversity didn’t stop there, however. Many cultures were represented in this
diversity. Jeff had slowed his step without being aware that he had, and Kenton slipped his hand in Jeff’s.
“You okay?” Kenton asked, though he knew why Jeff had slowed his walking. “Oh, yes, I’m fine,” he replied,
accepting Kenton’s hand and holding it without doubt or embarrassment. They walked hand in hand into the
theater where they were seated at a table with another couple who appeared to be about Kenton’s age. They
talked with the couple as they awaited the start of the show, who were happy to inform Kenton and Jeff of other
events in the city this weekend that they thought the two of them might enjoy.
At intermission, Kenton and Jeff went to the café and had a drink, nonalcoholic for Jeff. Kenton chose
the same, as he had had a bottle of champagne delivered to their room in their absence to celebrate Jeff’s big
night. While they were sitting and discussing the various comedians they had just seen and how entertaining
the comedians had been, Kenton noticed a couple of men not too far away from them. They were very loud and
obviously quite drunk. Kenton caught the eye of one of the men who apparently thought that he knew Kenton.
Kenton tried not to be obvious, but something about the man seemed familiar. Then it hit him, and he thought
he was going to vomit. It was Michael. I’ve got to get Jeff out of here before they see each other, Kenton
thought. Michael was already coming toward them. “Jeff, go back into the theater and wait for me there,”
Kenton’s strong command stunned Jeff. He did as he was told. He hadn’t seen the man coming toward them.
“Get back in here, you bastard,” Michael yelled, causing a stir. Jeff was on his way back to the theater, but
stopped so that he could hear. He knew now that it was Michael. “The great Dr. Weston! How about a blow
job, doc?” Michael yelled on his way over, beginning to unzip his pants. “Where is that ingrate who ruined my
life?” Jeff knew that Michael was referring to him. “Michael, you’re drunk,” Kenton said as he stopped him
from going toward the door. The other man, obviously Michael’s lover, was a big burly man who was
stumbling over to help Michael. “So, you’re saddled with him now. The boy’s worthless, can’t even give a
decent blowjob.” As Michael laughed, Jeff heard Kenton say, “You son of a bitch. You had no right doing
what you did.” “Aw, shit, he asked for it. I should have killed the little bastard.” Kenton kicked a chair toward
Michael to keep him away. Kenton didn’t want to end up in jail. He just wanted to get out of there and back to
Jeff. Security had come and had Michael and his friend escorted to an awaiting police car to be taken to the
station for disorderly conduct. Jeff wanted to go back in and help Kenton, but Kenton’s words had been so
stern, so doctor-like, that he stayed where he was.
Jeff hurried back to the theater and took his seat. The show had already begun. He didn’t want Kenton
to know that he had heard all that had been said after he left. Kenton collected himself and tried to appear calm
as he took his seat. “Sorry about that, just a couple of ruffians,” Kenton lied. Jeff studied Kenton’s face. Then,
to Kenton’s surprise, Jeff reached out for his hand. Kenton took Jeff’s hand and held it tightly. Kenton
couldn’t enjoy the show after the incidence in the café. He needed a drink. He leaned over and whispered to
Jeff. “Okay if we leave a little early?” Jeff nodded, and they excused themselves to their fellow tablemates.
Kenton didn’t know if Michael had other friends who might be waiting for them outside the theater, so he called
for a taxi and waited until it was outside the door to venture outside the theater. Jeff would have wondered why
Kenton had done this if he hadn’t been outside the door listening to the heated exchange between Kenton and
Michael.
Once back inside the hotel room, Kenton was glad to find that the champagne had arrived. “This is for
you, Jeff, doctor’s orders,” Kenton said as he handed a glass to Jeff. He poured himself a glass and asked Jeff
what they should toast. Jeff raised his glass and said, “To us”, and Kenton couldn’t think of a better toast. “To
us,” he parroted. They drank more of the champagne than Kenton had intended. He was, in fact, contributing
to the delinquency of a minor as far as alcohol was concerned.
They were seated on the sofa next to each other. Jeff took Kenton’s empty glass and set it on the table
along with his own. Then he straddled Kenton and sat in his lap. Kenton rested his head on the back of the
sofa. Jeff touched Kenton’s face lightly, outlining every detail, as he stared into Kenton’s eyes. No one has
ever defended me like Kenton did tonight, he thought. Kenton was staring at Jeff’s youthful lips, anxious to
taste the champagne that lingered there. Jeff lightly brushed Kenton’s lips with his own. Kenton put his arms
around Jeff and tried to pull him close, but Jeff was determined to make this as special for Kenton as Kenton
had intended for Jeff. Kenton closed his eyes and awaited Jeff’s mouth on his again. Jeff came close again and
kissed Kenton gently before backing off again. He could feel Kenton’s arousal beginning to make itself known.
Jeff leaned forward again so that his body was pressing against Kenton’s erection as he kissed him, longer this
time, licking Kenton’s lips with his tongue. As he did this, Kenton tried to encourage Jeff’s tongue inside his
mouth but each time Jeff would gently pull it away from its beckoning new home. When Jeff did at last give it
fully, Kenton held onto Jeff’s head and kissed him hard with a passion that surprised both of them. Jeff’s body
melted into Kenton’s as they kissed and forced their hands underneath clothing that was preventing the
stimulation that both desired. Their hands explored the other’s chest, encircling nipples and teasing the same
until fully erect. Jeff leaned back and looked at Kenton again. His eyes were closed, his face held a look of
passion and love. Jeff knew with absolute certainty that this look was for him and him alone. After tonight,
Jeff was certain about that, more certain than he had ever been.
Jeff slowly eased the zipper of Kenton’s lower garment downward, revealing and releasing its entrapped
prisoner to freedom. Jeff outlined this newly freed entity with both hands as Kenton’s breathing came in short
breaths. Lost in the seduction, Kenton had almost forgotten that this was supposed to be Jeff’s night. Kenton
reached toward Jeff’s zipper, but Jeff held Kenton’s hands and leaned toward Kenton so that his hands were flat
against the sofa. Jeff kissed Kenton’s cheek and whispered, “not yet”, beside his ear. Holding Kenton’s hands
firmly against the sofa, Jeff kissed his neck, his shoulders, and finally his nipples. Jeff liked the feel of these
smaller erections as he licked and sucked each one to its fullest potential. Kenton was surprised at his own
response to this latest seductive act when he moaned in encouragement of more. Jeff loved having the ability to
give Kenton so much pleasure and as he sucked, he reached downward as far as he could until his hand was
firmly on Kenton’s balls. Kenton pushed his lower garments until they fell to his ankles, to allow Jeff full
access to what he was searching for. Kenton opened his legs and Jeff reached far below Kenton’s balls, forcing
another gasp from Kenton’s still parted lips. Jeff mouth was on the top of Kenton’s erection and as Kenton
moaned aloud, he welcomed the whole of Kenton’s hardness until he had consumed it completely. He was
swirling and sucking and once again Kenton found himself fighting to control his own climax. Kenton was
running his hands through Jeff’s hair as the intensity of Jeff’s sucking and swirling increased. Jeff slowly slid
his mouth up and off Kenton’s erection and looked up into Kenton’s eyes as he slid Kenton’s clothes
completely off. Jeff continued to stimulate Kenton as he leaned up and kissed his parted lips. He whispered,
“Come with me”, into Kenton’s ear and Kenton opened his eyes. Jeff was so close to him that he could see his
reflection in Jeff’s eyes.
Jeff took Kenton by the hand and led him to the bedroom. He closed the drapes. This night was for Jeff
and Kenton, alone. Jeff threw back the covers and commanded Kenton to lie on the bed. Kenton lay
completely naked as he awaited Jeff’s next command. Jeff removed his own shirt and let it fall to the floor.
With his eyes closed, Jeff teased his own nipples to their full erection while Kenton watched, his own erection
beginning to throb. Jeff slowly led the zipper down its track and seductively allowed his own pulsating organ to
breathe free. Kenton watched hungrily as the final threads of Jeff’s clothing fell lifelessly to the floor. Jeff
stroked his own erection and made moaning noises and licked his lips. This seduction was killing Kenton.
He rose up off the bed and went to Jeff. Taking Jeff by surprise, Kenton squeezed his ass and said,
“Bring that gorgeous ass over here.” He pulled Jeff onto the bed and onto his back. He forced Jeff’s legs apart
and placed his hand between them. He kissed Jeff hard as he entered him with a wandering finger as he
massaged him deeply beneath his balls. Jeff wanted Kenton. He wanted Kenton to enter him with that luscious
throbbing entity that he had enjoyed just minutes before. “Now, Kenton. I want you now. I’ve waited too
long.” Kenton kissed Jeff on the cheek. He spoke softly. “Are you sure, baby?” Jeff spread his legs wide.
“Yes, Kenton, I want you in me.” Kenton was so turned on now that he couldn’t have denied Jeff anything.
Kenton wanted every time with Jeff to be the most pleasurable that Jeff could imagine, but especially this time,
his first time.
Kenton kissed Jeff a long passionate kiss and told him how much he loved him. Kenton had come fully
prepared for this night. He reached far between Jeff’s legs and squeezed his ass, one side at a time, as he
continued to kiss Jeff. Jeff knew what he wanted and positioned himself with his legs beneath him, the two
perfectly shaped orbs that were his ass staring at Kenton and begging for him to enter between them. Kenton
looked hungrily at the space begging to be entered as he held those two orbs one in each hand. Kenton placed
the head of his well prepared erection at the entrance to Jeff’s most special place that had been saved especially
for him and entered him slowly. Kenton stopped to take a deep breath in an effort to control his own climax.
Jeff felt so good inside that Kenton was fighting to keep from losing it too quickly. Jeff pushed against Kenton
in an effort to have more of this feeling. “Don’t stop, Kenton. I want you.” Kenton moaned as he entered Jeff
fully. He stopped again, for the same reason as he had earlier. “Harder, Kenton,” Jeff commanded. “Give it to
me.” Kenton gave Jeff what he wanted, and pulled him to him by holding onto Jeff’s upper thighs. Then he
reached underneath Jeff and squeezed his balls while at the same time began to masturbate him. Again and
again Kenton entered Jeff and at the same time masturbated him with greater intensity with each thrust as Jeff
said over and over, “Harder, Kenton”, and “Give it all to me, Kenton, harder”, until Kenton could no longer
stop what had been inching its way forward from the moment he had entered Jeff. “That’s it, Kenton, that’s it,
mm,” Jeff moaned, and after several more hard and deep thrusts, Kenton came deep inside Jeff. Jeff’s moan
was audible throughout the suite as he welcomed the full of Kenton’s climax deep within him. Kenton
continued until his explosion was complete and then masturbated Jeff so that he could experience the most
intense pleasure that he could give this innocent lover he so desperately wanted to please. Jeff had never
experienced pleasure such as this and did not hold back when expressing the orgasmic feeling that Kenton was
providing and finally the orgasm itself. When Jeff had experienced what Kenton knew was the ultimate of
pleasures, Kenton lay over Jeff as he pulled Jeff’s legs out from underneath him until they lay flat against each
other, meshed together as one.
Kenton’s head lay on Jeff’s shoulder as he whispered, “I love you, Jeff. I love you.” Jeff knew he did,
had both seen it and felt it tonight. They were too exhausted to move, and they fell asleep exactly as they lay.
Waking up with the full weight of Kenton’s body on top of him was the perfect way to wake up, according to
Jeff. Kenton was sleeping soundly and Jeff did not want to wake him, so he lay as still as he could.
He thought about last night and the exchange between Kenton and Michael. He had tried so desperately
for years to try to win Michael’s acceptance, and with Kenton nothing was required. Kenton had loved and
accepted him unconditionally, first as a surrogate father, and now as a lover and partner. Jeff realized that
Kenton’s love was true and that true love was not forced nor earned, but given freely.
Kenton opened his eyes. He liked what he saw. He rolled onto his back and lay beside Jeff. Then he
turned onto his side and rubbed Jeff’s back. He coaxed Jeff onto his side and put his arm over him. Kenton had
to know how Jeff felt about last night, and thought it might be easier for Jeff if he were facing away from him
rather than toward him. Kenton kissed Jeff on the back of his neck and spoke barely louder than a whisper.
“Are you okay, Jeff, about last night?” Jeff turned to face him. He took Kenton’s hand that had been around
him and held it in both of his own. He looked up to find Kenton’s eyes waiting to be met by his. “Yes, Kenton.
You showed me in ways that you do not know that you love me.” Kenton was confused by Jeff’s response and
wanted to know what he meant, because he was sure that he did not. “Jeff, help me out here.” Jeff took a deep
breath and began to tell Kenton what he meant.
“You brought me to a place where there are people like us so I would feel good about myself and about
us. You took me to see the greatest of gay comedians. You chose the suite that you knew would be perfect for
my first time. You were a lover like no other last night.” Jeff stopped to catch his breath. Kenton kissed him
on the nose. “But you showed me love in one more way that will probably surprise you,” Jeff added. Kenton’s
confusion returned. “What way is that, baby?” Kenton tried to free his hand to place it around Jeff to hold him
closer to him, but Jeff held tightly to Kenton’s hand with both of his. He wanted Kenton to see his face as he
told him what he had overhead, and he wanted to see Kenton’s reaction. “Kenton, do you remember when we
were in the café and you told me to return to the theater?” Kenton nodded. “As I was walking toward the
theater, I heard the man’s voice, the man who was coming toward you.” Jeff stopped to study Kenton’s
reaction. It was a look that told Jeff once again that Kenton loved him because the look was one that said he
wished Jeff hadn’t heard the man’s voice. “When I heard the man’s voice, I knew it was Michael. I didn’t
return to the theater, Kenton. I stood against the wall just a few feet from the door.” Kenton pulled his hand
from Jeff’s hold and held him close. Before he knew it, Jeff was looking at Kenton’s chest, being held tightly
by Kenton with both arms. “I’m so sorry, baby. I’m so sorry.” Kenton repeated. Jeff managed to scoot up to
face Kenton. “No, Kenton, that’s not it.” Kenton pulled the covers with his feet until he could reach them, and
covered both of them, holding Jeff’s head over his shoulder. “Kenton, I have to continue.” Kenton did not
release his hold, but was ready to listen. “Go ahead, baby, tell me.” Jeff continued. “I heard what Michael said
and how you defended me. Michael would never have done that. You were trying to protect me, and that was
another way that you showed me that you love me. I did everything I could think of to earn Michael’s love and
acceptance, and it was at that moment last night that I realized that if someone is unwilling or incapable to give
love, there is nothing anyone can do to earn it. You showed me that love is something given freely, without
conditions.” There, he had said it all. Now he waited for Kenton’s reaction.
Kenton said nothing as he held Jeff’s young body next to his. He was trying desperately to swallow the
lump that was still forming in his throat. Kenton took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Oh, Jeff, I had no
idea you had heard everything. You shouldn’t have had to hear it. You should have done as you were told.”
This last statement was said teasingly, not in an effort to chastise this beautiful person. “But it was good that I
heard, don’t you see?” “Yes, Jeff, I do see. I am not upset. I know I can’t protect you from life’s bumps and
bruises no matter how much I would like to.” Kenton sighed. “I will probably always try to protect you
anyway,” he added lightly. “I know you will. I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Jeff responded, with a kiss to
Kenton’s neck. “I need to know something, Kenton.” Kenton loosened his grasp on Jeff and held him so that
he could see his eyes. “Jeff, you can ask me anything at any time,” Kenton offered. “Did you feel anything for
Michael when you saw him last night, like you might want to be with him again?” Kenton knew the subject of
Michael would come up at some time. How could he possibly explain that what he had felt very briefly for the
father was completely different from that which he now felt for the son? How could his feelings have gotten so
mixed up? As a physician, he was taught to mask his feelings, and to show no emotion. How did this happen?
Kenton looked at Jeff. “No, Jeff. What I feel for Michael is not desire, nor lust, and certainly is not love. I do
feel some contempt, and maybe a bit of pity, but that’s all.” Jeff still needed more of an answer. “Why were
you with him that night?” “Oh, Jeff, I have tried to find that answer myself. I guess it was just sex. I’m sorry,
Jeff.” “That’s okay, Kenton,” Jeff’s sweet innocence shining through. “If I hadn’t been at the hospital the way
I was that night, would you still be with Michael?” Kenton did know the answer to this question. “No, Jeff, I
wouldn’t. Sometimes what we may not see when we’re ‘in the moment’, can become clear to us in the light of
the day.” Jeff continued to look at Kenton. “But you didn’t know about him, you know?” Jeff asked. “No,
Jeff, I didn’t. If I had, you would have been with me a lot sooner. Baby, I love you and always will. That
much I can tell you with absolute certainty.” Jeff’s eyes were full, and Kenton pulled him close against his
chest. “I love you too, Kenton.” Jeff’s words were muffled but Kenton had heard them, and he could now feel
the warmth of Jeff’s tears as they trickled slowly onto his chest. “It’s you and me forever, Jeff. We’re going to
make it. I believe in us.” Kenton could feel Jeff’s head move up and then back down again as if in a nod of
agreement. Kenton kissed the top of Jeff’s head and held him until his body had stilled. Jeff liked being held in
Kenton’s arms. He felt safe. He felt loved. He looked up at Kenton and was met with another loving, “I love
you.” Jeff was okay after that. The next two days were spent enjoying all the cultural events that they could
while in San Francisco.
On Sunday afternoon the two of them headed back to the vineyard. Jeff loved the vineyard and wished
they could stay there and not return to Philadelphia. But he knew that Kenton’s life was in Philadelphia, and he
had such passion for his work.
When Kenton pulled into the driveway, he couldn’t believe his eyes. There was an old truck parked in
front of the house. “Who is here?” asked Jeff, a little worried. “I can’t believe it, Jeff. It’s Mom and Dad.”
Kenton was excited. “Come on, Jeff. You will love them,” Kenton assured him. They walked inside and
found Kenton’s mother baking pies and his father out back grilling steaks. Kenton’s mother hugged and kissed
Kenton and then did the same to Jeff. Jeff hugged her back, surprised and impressed by the warmth she
radiated. When Kenton’s father came in, he hugged them also and invited Jeff to come outside with him so that
he could show him the vineyard. Kenton winked at Jeff to indicate that it was okay, and to assure him that his
dad wasn’t crazy, and Jeff followed him outside. Although Jeff had seen almost the entire property including
the vineyards, Kenton’s dad proudly showed it to everyone new to the area. He would go on for hours if
allowed. Kenton enjoyed spending time with his mother. She somehow knew that he and Jeff were “together”,
and added that she could tell that they were in love. Kenton had actually blushed when she said this to him.
They had a great time with Kenton’s parents that night, and Jeff hated to see them leave the following
morning. “I can’t believe they drove all this way, Kenton,” Jeff remarked after they had gone. “They are quite
the couple,” Kenton laughed.
Kenton and Jeff unpacked from their trip, and finished off the breakfast casserole Kenton’s mother had
made for them. Kenton’s parents called when they arrived at Kenton’s aunt’s home in Nevada. They had
called to tell Kenton to be sure and lock everything up at the house when they left for Philadelphia, because the
couple who had been leasing the property had decided to move in with one of their kids. They were getting
older and didn’t want the responsibility of a large estate. Kenton’s parents had certainly understood and wished
them well. Kenton promised his parents that he would lock up before he and Jeff headed to the airport in a
couple of days. Kenton didn’t think anything of the call, but asked Jeff to help him remember to make sure
everything was locked up when they headed back in a couple of days.
Jeff looked tired to Kenton. Kenton suggested that he rest, and Jeff agreed that he definitely was tired.
He headed upstairs and to the bed that he and Kenton now shared. As he drifted off to sleep he thought of how
much he would love to stay here. He did not want to return to Philadelphia where so many bad memories
awaited him.
Kenton rested on the sofa and read a book. He had been reading for a lot longer than he had planned,
when he realized it had been four hours since Jeff had gone upstairs. With visions of finding Jeff semiconscious
the last time something similar to this had occurred, Kenton practically ran up the stairs again. Jeff was
sleeping.
It was getting late and Kenton was tired too. He undressed and snuggled up to Jeff whose back was to
him. Jeff was not asleep, however. He had been awake for awhile, thinking of how much he dreaded returning
to Philly. If he could somehow start over someplace new, he thought. “Kenton,” he said to the wall. Surprised
that Jeff was awake, Kenton answered, “yes, Jeff?” “Could I talk to you?” Kenton leaned up and over Jeff’s
shoulder. He kissed him on the cheek. “Jeff, you can talk to me anytime and tell me anything. I will always do
my very best to remain objective, give my opinion if you like, or answer your questions.” “But you may not
like this conversation,” Jeff tried to prepare him. Kenton felt uneasy. “It doesn’t matter, baby. I will still
discuss whatever you want. You won’t offend me, I promise.” “When I heard Michael’s voice, a lot of old
feelings came back and…” He stopped, and Kenton began. “That’s normal, Jeff,” Kenton assured him. “I just
don’t think…” He stopped again. Kenton rubbed Jeff’s chest as he continued to lie with his chin on Jeff’s
shoulder. “What is it, Jeff? It’s okay.” “I can’t do it, Kenton. I can’t go back. Please don’t make me.” At his
pleading, Jeff’s heart was racing. Kenton could feel it beating against his hand on Jeff’s chest. Kenton spoke
softly, “Shh, it’s okay, Jeff. We won’t go. Let’s take slow deep breaths, okay?” Kenton continued to reassure
Jeff, to hopefully calm his overworked body. “I love this house, Jeff, and the couple leasing are not returning
because they are getting older and are going into an assisted living community. That’s why Mom and Dad
wanted me to lock the house when we left. I should have told you, honey. I can see how happy you are here
and to be honest, I could certainly live without the cold winters of Philadelphia.” Jeff was finally breathing a
little more easily. “What do you want me to do here, Kenton?” Kenton rolled Jeff onto his back and kissed
him. “I want you to do what you want, Jeff. You can take classes via the Internet if you like, or whatever
makes you happy, Jeff. You deserve to be happy. Whatever you want to do, I will be right beside you. I love
you.” “What will you do, Kenton? Your life is in Philly.” “No, Jeff, my job is in Philly. My life is with you. I
should have left that stuffy old hospital years ago. I’ve often thought of opening an assisted living community
for gay couples. Maybe I’ll do that right here on this beautiful vineyard. Gay couples grow old too.
Sometimes I think our society forgets that.”
Jeff looked at Kenton. A year and a half ago he thought his life was over, but as he looked into
Kenton’s eyes he realized that it had just begun. He pulled Kenton to him and kissed him and didn’t stop until
Kenton was gasping for air. His body ached for Kenton. He moved Kenton’s hand to his hardness and
encouraged its downward movement. Spreading his legs, he forced Kenton’s fingers deep inside him. Once
this was accomplished, Jeff reached for Kenton’s penis and coaxed it to full erection. Jeff said just one word,
“together”, and Kenton was more aroused than ever. Holding each other, meshed together, Kenton showed Jeff
the most intimate of lovemaking. With no doubts, no shame, and nothing but love for each other, they enjoyed
each other and pleasured each other until each had realized his climax to its completeness.
This time, as they unlocked the door of the old Victorian house in which their love for each other had
been fully realized, Kenton and Jeff both knew that this was where they were meant to be. Philadelphia would
always be remembered as the birthplace of their love, but it was here in this beautiful land that had been so
richly blessed with the fruit of nature’s harvest that their love would flourish.
