Finished Size: Preemie 10inches in diameter,
Fits a 3-5 lb preemie
Yarn Needed: approximately 200 yards of
worsted weight yarn
Needle Size: I hook/ 5.5mm
Gauge: 3 sts/inch

Sc: single crochet
Rnd: round
Hdc: half double crochet
Dc: double crochet

Ch3, join with sl st to form ring

your local hospital by making a
bunch for their NICU!
Rnd 1: ch 1, 9 sc into ring (9sc)
Rnd 2: ch1, 2 sc into each sc (18sc)
Rnd 3: ch 1, * 1 sc in 1st st, 2 sc in next st* repeat from * around
(27sc)
Rnd 4-10: ch 2 (counts as 1st hdc), hdc in each st around (27 hdc)
NOTE: This hat can be longer or shorter by the amount of times
you repeat round 4. A standard hat size for a 3-4 lb preemie is 4” and
5-6lb is 4.5-5” so you can repeat row 4 until piece measures that long.
Ears:
Make 2
Ch 5, 5 dc in 3 rd ch from hook, sl st to last ch
Attach to hat where you would like . I like to put the bear ears right
where the stitch pattern changes from sc to hdc.
