Application

The SG-25.Smart smart hydrostatic level probe is designed

to measure liquid levels in tanks, wells or piezometers.
The SG-25S.Smart smart hydrostatic level probe is de-

signed to measure levels of liquids containing contaminants

and suspensions. The probe is typically used to measure the

level of liquid wastes at intermediate pumping stations,

fermentation chambers, setting tanks etc.

Principle of operation, construction

The probe measures liquid levels based on a simple rela-

tionship between the height of the column of liquid and the

resulting hydrostatic pressure measurement is made at the

level of the separating diaphragm of the submerged probe

and is related to atmospheric pressure via a capillary in the

cable.
The active sensing element is a piezoresistive silicon sensor

separated from the medium by an isolating diaphragm. The

sensor works in combination with a digital module equipped

with a safety circuit protecting the probe from excess voltage

damage included by atmospheric discharge or by the power

supply devices.

Settings

You can select the following settings:

Pressure units defining the measuring range,

End-points of range,

Damping,

Inverted characteristics (output signal 20 ÷ 4 mA).

Calibration

Zero shift and calibration against pressure standard.

Communication

Hart protocol with 4 ÷ 20 mA signal. Setting and calibration

trough KAP-01 communicator unit, some Hart compatible

communicators or PC through an RS-Hart interface and

Aplisens RAPORT-01 configuration software.
Additional features enabling data exchange with the probe

are:

Probe identification,

Current reading of pressure, output current and percent-

age of measuring range.

Assembly, operation

Released et the reference level, the probe can hang freely on

the cable or lie on the bottom of the tank. The cable with

capillary can be extended, using a standard signalling cable.

The cable connection should be containing in a non-airtight

box (internal pressure equal to atmospheric), which prevents

ingress of water or other contaminants into the capillary.
