I. READING
Jersey is an island in the English Channel. It's one of
a group of islands called the Channel Islands. Its area is
118 square kilometers and it is situated 160 kilometres
south of Great Britain. The climate of the island is like
England's. Winters are mild and summers are warmer
than in England. Jersey is beautiful , with lots of pretty
towns and villages and a lot of parks full of flowers. It's
famous for its sandy beaches, good hotels and
restaurants. You can eat wonderful seafood there: fish,
crabs, lobsters, mussels and oysters. Farmers produce
very good potatoes and excellent milk. A lot of tourists go to
Jersey in the summer and a lot of rich people live on the
island all the year round because they like the climate and
don't have to pay high taxes. Jersey isn't a part of the UK
and isn't a member of the European Union.
