Jak zastosować zaimek either? 

  Either stosujemy tylko z rzeczownikami w liczbie pojedynczej, np.:  

Either car is fast. → Każdy z (tych dwóch) samochodów jest szybki.

 

Either girl is beautiful. → Każda z (tych dwóch) dziewczyn jest piękna. 

You can take either book. → Możesz wziąć którąkolwiek z tych książek. 

Did either child help you yesterday? → Czy którekolwiek (z dwojga) dzieci pomogło ci wczoraj? 

   Either nie zawsze musi stać przed rzeczownikiem, jeśli z kontekstu wynika o czym mówimy: 

This is my bed and that one is John’s. You may take either. 

To moje łóżko a tamto Johna. Możecie wziąć którekolwiek. 

 

Either może wystąpić jako krótka odpowiedź: 

 

Which one would you like?’ ‘Either.’ → ‘Którą byś chciał?’ ‘Którąkolwiek.’ 

‘Which dress are you going to buy?’ ‘Either.’ → ‘Którą sukienkę zamierzasz kupić?’‘Którąkolwiek.’

   

  Either często pojawia się w wyrażeniu: either …or…→ albo… albo… 

 

Either you or John has to help tomorrow. → Albo ty albo John musi pomóc jutro. 

 We can take either your car or mine. → Możemy wziąć albo twój samochód albo mój

 Neither stosujemy tylko z rzeczownikami w liczbie pojedynczej. Zazwyczaj tylko w zdaniach 
twierdzących. NIE TWORZYMY Z NEITHER ZDAŃ PRZECZĄCYCH. 

Neither car is fast. → Żaden z (tych dwóch) samochodów nie jest szybki. 

Neither girl is beautiful. → Żadna z (tych dwóch) dziewczyn nie jest piękna. 

   

Neither car is not fast. - źle 

Neither girl is not beautiful. - źle

   

  

Neither nie zawsze musi stać przed rzeczownikiem, jeśli z kontekstu wynika o czym mówimy. 

This is my bed and that one is John’s. You may take neither. 

To moje łóżko a tamto Johna. Nie możecie wziąć żadnego z nich. 

Neither może wystąpić jako krótka odpowiedź. 

‘Which one would you like?’ ‘Neither.’ → ‘Którą byś chciał?’ ‘Żadną.’ 

‘Which dress are you going to buy?’ ‘Neither.’ → ‘Którą sukienkę zamierzasz kupić?’ ‘Żadną.’  

 
 Neither często występuje w wyrażeniu neither… nor…→ ani… ani… 

Neither you nor John has to help me tomorrow. → Ani ty ani John nie musi mi pomóc jutro. 

We can take neither your car nor mine. → Nie możemy wziąć ani twojego samochodu ani mojego. 

UWAGA! W języku polskim mówimy: 

 Ani ty ani ja nie jesteśmy bogaci.   

Oprócz konstrukcji ani… ani… w naszym ojczystym języku mamy zdanie przeczące zaś w języku 
angielskim wystarczy konstrukcja neither… nor…:  

Neither you nor me is rich
