JACOB VAN HEEMSKERCK
This model of the Royal Netherlands Navy “pansership” as she appeared in 1908
shows all the main features of coast defence ship in the type’s heyday:
compactness, simplicity and, unusually for her period, an enclosed bridge. The ship
never served in the defence of the Netherlands, but only in the Dutch East Indies,
hence her being painted white and her array of top semaphores.
