Optimizing Time Delay Page 1 of 1 Smartuner"! Tech Notes Optimizing Time Delay Between Rx & Tx for Voice or Data Communication Modes Increasing Delay Time Between Rx and Tx The Smartuner software is optimized for high-speed data communications. Other applications may require longer delays between receive and transmit. This can be accomplished with the following hardware modification. Change the appropriate capacitor to the value determined by this formula: Delay Time = 10 mSec x each microFarad Example: 22 microFarad would generate a delay of 220 mSec. (22 x 10 mSec = 220 mSec) The capacitors for the different Smartuners are listed below: SG-230* - C16 SG-231 - C73 SG-235 - C26 SG-237 - C2 SG-239 - C2 *C16 is applicable for all SG-230 couplers manufactured after December 1999. This modification is normally made for high speed CW operations. When SGC does this modification, we install a 10 µF tantalum or ceramic capacitor. Every Smartuner manual includes the schematics, so you can locate the correct capacitor position.
