Caution: Prolonged therapy may result in superinfection of the colon with nonsusceptible
bacteria and yeast. The drug may produce loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, bulky loose stools, and diarrhoea in some patients.
Special information. Do not administer this drug after the expiry date on the label. The decom position of tetracycline produces a highly toxic substance, which can cause serious kidney dam age.

Use: To dissolve penicillin in powder form.

83. Zinc oxide paste (Lassarłs plain zinc paste)
Use: A nontoxic, protective, water-insoluble, mildly astringent, and antiseptic paste employed in a large variety of diseases and irritations of the skin. Zinc oxide paste differs from zinc oxide ointment in that it is somewhat more protective.
Dosage: Apply as needed in a thin layer to skin areas to be treated or protected from sunlight or weather.
