If you re looking for a slower, more relaxed pace of life then
a SPEEDER is probably the wrong choice. Our SPEEDER
is just as light-weight, stiff and performance-orientated as
our road racing machines while following the geometry of
our successful road model, the SCULTURA Evo. A SPEEDER
has a straight handlebar  ideal for bikers who want to ride
quickly and safely in road traffic. A flatbar enables a more
upright riding position, and a better view of what s going on
around you, and also a faster grip of the brake levers when
you need to stop in a hurry. In addition, wider tyres increase
comfort levels and reduce the risk of a puncture on rougher
road surfaces.
New for 2012 is the lighter weight, faster accelerating T5
Carbon. As a derivative of our CYCLO CROSS Carbon that
was introduced successfully in 2011, the SPEEDER Carbon
combines that model s swiftness and robustness with
suitability for daily use. Reliable V-brakes, fender and carrier
mounting points plus even more rugged aluminium dropouts
give the T5 carbon a certain city chic.

UPDATED WITH DISC BRAKES
Great news! The UCI has finally mandated the use of the
latest disc brakes on CX bikes for competition purposes.
As soon as the news reached the desks of MERIDA s R&D
experts at the end of 2010, an update of our CYCLO CROSS
Carbon was planned. The objective was to develop a disc-
brake version to compliment the CX model with cantilever
brakes  a challenging task that required more than just
fitting the front fork and rear stay with disc brake mounts.
The configuration must be carefully adapted to cope
with the different braking forces generated by disc brake
systems.
For the 2012 season, our CYCLO CROSS Carbon
demonstrates its outstanding qualities with a completely
revised full-carbon fork and a new rear frame triangle.
At the same time, the CX bikes of the current model year
benefit from new design features such as the Flex Stay seat
and chain stays for maximum comfort even on roughest dirt
tracks. CYCLO CROSS riders can tackle these tracks at full
speed thanks to the torsion-resistant Nano Matrix Carbon
frame. Another outstanding feature of a MERIDA carbon
crosser is the cable routing tunnel beneath the top tube that
means the bike can be shouldered and carried more easily
for that decisive advantage when on foot. The MERIDA
range also includes attractively priced aluminium versions
that are a brilliant alternative for road-racing athletes who
want to cycle when it s dark and dirty. Depending on the
model, these aluminium cyclo-crossers are available with
disc or cantilever brakes.
