3. Pre-teach: landmarks. Read the terms for each
country and if you have access to the Internet in
class, show students the images of the symbols
and landmarks. Pause after each term for students
to repeat and say what they know about it. Explain
that they will check the answers by reading texts
about the countries.
4. Pre-teach: flag, emblem, prickly, leaves, network,
bathing complex, the Romans, yew trees, canoeing
competition and waterfall.
5. Divide the class into three groups of equal size: A,
B and C. Everybody in group A should get Student
A worksheet, in group B Student B worksheet
and in group C Student C worksheet.
6. Point to the questions at the top of the worksheets
and explain that each text has the answers to only
four of them. Students task is to read their text,
check which answers they can find and write them
next to the respective questions. Students work
individually and then compare their answers with
other members of their group. Monitor the activity
and make sure that everyone has correct
answers.
