My daily program
My daily program is very monotonous now and that's why it's very easy to describe it. I could divide it into 2 sections: the weekends and the week days.
During the week when I go to school I wake up at 6 o'clock.
Then I have to go to school. Sometimes we have long days and sometimes short. For example on Monday can we go home at half past four and on friday at twelve o´clock. Through my chool day I go to school lunch. Sometimes it´s not so good but when you´re hungry it could also taste good.
After the school I spentmy afternoon with my books and my exercise books so it means I study very hard. I spent the time only with the subjects which are usefull for me - the languages - it means English and then biology and chemistry.
In the evening I could do 3 things:
On usually days I have to learn. On wednesday I must go to my job in bookstore. And on Friday and Saturday we go with friends to the disco or to the pub.
During the winter I go to the mountains because I´m interested in downhill skiing.
The main thing in my daily program is my job. I like it so much because I can here clean my head like nowhere.
So you can see my daily program is very stupid and monotonous. But I´m happy because I do what I have to do.
Family
I think, family is base of the society. Now, I will speak about families in English speaking countries and then about families in Czech republic.
So, there is a trend towards smaller families. In the postwar years many Americans families had four or five children, but now many young people think that zero population growth. The marrying age has dropped elsewhere and young people often start a family before they have learned to cook, in the case of student before they get their degrees and begin to earn money. While in this country is usual for parents to give some money to their children for setting up house, in the USA parents often lend to young couple money to buy a home or rent an apartment. In the Britain, middle and working class mothers do not usually go back to work until the child is five or six and starts going to school. But a growing number of children under five are in play groups, nursery schools or kindergartens. The sons of upper-middle and upper-class families are often sent, from about the boys only return for school holidays.
It is less common in Britain than in Czech republic - and this holds good for the USA - for three generations to live together in one home or in the same town. People move house very often to get a better job or simply to have a change in their live. Czech young couples often prefer living nearby their parents. When the father has to work all day, and the mother is busy at home, usually the grandparents can help in various ways when the young couple need it. I think, it is not good.
Parents in Britain and the USA generally require less obedience from their children than Czech parents. Their small children may sometimes appear naughty, but when they are twelve or so, they are more independent than Czech children of that age. But modern children elsewhere now usually find their recreation outside the family, in youth clubs and in such activities as hiking or dancing. Each age group has its own way of life. The result is often that parents and children do not understand each other very well.
So, I don t know, where is better situation in family life. I think, that s good, that parents in USA prefer independence of their children, but I think, that it leads to some grade of disunion.
Teenagers
Teenagers today have not so hard situation like our parents. After the ocupation In 1968 it was not so good life. They can´t go to abroad or go to the university they want to.
Of course it´s the reason why parents today are not so hard. They gives to
the teenagers freedom and the teenagers don´t use it in good way. More and more young people are murderers or terrorists in all around the world.
Teenagers smokes
It is a serious health problem that more and more teenagers have taken up smoking. Even though these teens are aware that they will probably someday develop health problems like cancer, heart disease, and other respiratory problems, they still smoke anyway. Most teenagers start smoking in order to look cool in front of their friends but unfortunately they wind up addicted. Many tobacco companies have been blamed for making advertising which is designed to appeal to young people. It is a tragedy but cigarette smoking kills 2.5 million people every year.
Drugs
Drug use in the world is increasing and more young people than ever are addicted. Drugs can be divided into three categories: hard, soft and legal. All three types can cause addiction, illness, or even death. Hard drugs include heroin and cocaine. Drugs like marijuana, hashish, and solvents are considered soft drugs. Legal drugs include tobacco, alcohol, prescription and non-prescription medicines.
