1. Outline

This documented procedure is for the repair of PCB of the industry standard compatible notebook type personal computer (Development code: Montreal) that the Intel Mobile Tualatin Processor (briefly, Tualatin)/ Mobile Celeron-T Processor (Briefly, Celeron-T)and VGA supporting to AGP are mounted. This indicates the analysis method of failure detected by each test in IRT (Initial Reliability Test = It sets initially the LSI and I/O devices and tests them. If IRT detects any errors, it displays the error content or output the error status to the printer port) and T&D. The purpose is to make the repair effective and multi-talented.

8.2 IRT error list

In the case of the IRT failure, the system may become SYSTEM HOLD condition. The operating status of each signal shall be judged by making good use of the RESET SW. This model adapts PCI bus and CPU accesses to ISA bus via PCI bus. For analysis, watch the basic signal of PCI block. (The basic peripheral of PC-AT is contained in GA. So, where error occurs, the signal can not be seen from the outside. In this document, the description is poor.) Would you write know-how which is gotten by the actual analysis and repairs in the blank of this list, and accumulate the data.

The calorific value of CPU is very large, so that the CPU and portion around CPU become vey hot (the temperature of CPU chip surface becomes about 85 °C). If the temperature of the CPU chip surface becomes 100°C or more, the system hangs up. In the analysis, radiate the CPU heat fully.

When analyzing the board, be careful not to get burn.

* Combination of SYSTE, +IRT connection can be analyzed when IRT NG occurs (if the phenomenon is

appears, stay the condition)

* Stop LED item indicates the status that was outputted by printer port LED

* In “Check signal” and “Parts”, **** shows the data measured actually. (Others are expected data.)

nDSO

(012/0D12)

Active-low signal. This output selects drive 0.

8

Direct control

nDIR

(012/0D12)

High electric current. Direction of head can be decided by output of active-low signal. The pin is “1”, head is outer, and when it “0”, the head is inner.

9

Step Pulse

nSTEP

(012/0D12)

High electric current drive of active law signal. this signal issues law pulse while head tracking is transferring

10
