STORY
It was Sunday, November Sunday - at the evening I went to my home. It was cold, rainy weather and I worked many hours that day so I was in bad mood. Near to my house I met my best friend Betty (she lives next to my door) returning to home too. Betty works as a doctor in hospital and works hard, so we were in the same mood.
Big oak, which grows nearby our house, is the most beautiful tree in our town, so we always look at this tree when we pass by. This time we stopped suddenly - to my astonishment we saw a man jumping from the oak to my window! He stopped on windowsill and looked into my room. I thought about what I ought to do - call the police, call for the help, shout at the burglar or something else...?
Betty looked at me and asked silently: What do you want to do? I had to decide something. No sooner I opened my mouths than the man broke a window! Glass fell on the ground and the burglar, not expecting this noise, upset and nearly run into the flat. Betty and me run to nearest telephone - I dialled 997 and said everything to police officer. Police car came in 5 minutes - officers silently run into my flat and caught the burglar. I didn't want to see him. I was jittery too much but I was very glad I wasn't home during the robbery. My landlady guarded the flat against wind and rain so I could go to Betty for all night. I needed somebody to stay with me. Betty too, I think. We talked over this event till late at night. I was very relieved to hear next day that the burglar has been wanted since 1995 and a few next years will stay in prison.

DESCRIPTION OF PLACE
My sister lives in big Canadian City Vancouver in British Columbia. She writes that it is a town situated on water - on the east it is the Fraser River, on the west it is the Pacific. This region is known for bears and others wild animals and this is the reason why people usually stay near theirs houses or travel by cars. There are Rocky Mountains in the vicinity of the city so people can ski or climb, but harsh climate and animals deter tourists. Mountains are covered with evergreen forests but nobody goes mushrooming. Many men works as fishermen and as port employees. Vancouver is known for salmons too- it is common knowledge that these fishes live in very clean rivers only. City buildings are wood-beamed and located in places among the hills and forests, so if somebody needs wild nature should visit this area, where either water or mountains stretch as far as the horizon.

REVIEV - THE NEVER-ENDING STORY (zr. 6 bł.)
There is a place where you can escape from evil, bad luck and loneliness. Especially when you are very young. This place we are talking about is a dreamland. The best seller book “Never-ending Story” written by Michael Ende, is about the boy who escapes to the land of dreams. Wolfgang Petersen directed the film based on the book in 1984. The main hero is a lonely boy who loves to read books. One day he gets a strange book that includes the Magic Land - Fantasy. Actually the film is about friendship, imagination and about the right to be a different man.

EXPRESSING OPINIONS - 22.01.2001
Christmas should be abolished.
This statement is very controversial. In my opinion Christmas it is very special time for many people, so they are in need of this.
Christmas is time for family - all members have free time and they can visit each other or meet all together in somebody's one home. Usually they work too much, take care of many businesses, hurry up too often. Christmas allow them stay at home and take a rest.
Moreover Christmas also let to protect the national culture from oblivion. Next nations wouldn't know what the wafer is and what it was using for. Furthermore, they wouldn't be able to sing any carols, which yet contain former language.
Next point, which supports my opinion, is connected with common human joy - Christmas time means presents, surprises and happiness. People are better than usually and sometimes they are good for the other people much longer than only during Christmas.
Finally - Christmas mean cultivation of the culture and history of the nation. In practice, mean taking a rest. So Marry Christmas!
