IMPORTANT:

1. Please read carefully the entire tutorial, and re-use it as needed!

2. Follow strictly the steps described in this tutorial, and do not modify them!

Brush process preparation:

1. Please use Windows XP or Windows 7 desktop computer system, with the USB cable connected to the desktop rear USB port.

2. Make sure that the Tablet battery is at least 50% charged.

3. Turn off all anti-virus software on your computer (antivirus software may see the upgrade tool as a virus).

4. Backup your data before upgrading the Tablet (store the useful data on the TF card). Remove the TF card before starting the brush process.

5. Please read the instructions carefully before upgrading, as the improper brush operation can make your tablet unusable, and you may have to contact the manufacturer for maintenance treatment.

Brush process steps:

Step 1: After extracting the downloaded firmware package you should see three files: the Brush Tool (Onda Suite), firmware file (.img file), and Brush Tutorial (Word document), as shown below:

Note: The names above are given only for the illustration purpose, the actual names may be different.

Step 2: Brush Tool installation:

Double-click the Onda Suite file and the installation interface should pop up, as shown below. Follow the steps as illustrated in the snapshots that follow:

After clicking the Finish button above, the Device Driver Installation Wizard window should pop up automatically as shown in the following snapshot:

If during the driver installation process any system security warnings pop-up, be sure to click the Accept button, otherwise the driver installation will be interrupted. Examples of such warning messages are shown below. If there are no security warnings, ignore this note.

Drivers will be installed, as shown in the following snapshots:

After the installation is complete, the Onda Suite shortcut icon will be generated on the desktop:

Step 3: Run the Brush Tool and load the firmware:

3.1. Double-click the Onda Suite icon on the desktop or click on the corresponding shortcut to run Onda tablet helper software from the Start menu. Software running interface is shown below. If a smaller window pops up a with software update message, close it.

3.2. Select a Brush tab on the top of the window as shown below:

3.3. Select the firmware package by following the six steps (in proper order) indicated below:

3.4. At the end of the firmware selection your screen should look similar to the one below:

Step 4: Turn the Tablet off, and start flashing the firmware:

4.1. Make sure that the Tablet is turned off (if you are not sure, press the Power button for 10-20 seconds to force shutdown).

Important warning: If the "Next fast boot" option is checked on your Tablet, please turn it off before shutting down the Tablet (remove the tick, as shown on the snapshot below), otherwise the Brush mode will be inaccessible.

4.2. Switch the Tablet to the Brush mode:

Press the Home button (if there is no Home button on your Tablet, press the Volume-Down) and while holding it, plug in the USB cable into the Tablet.

Press the Power button 5-10 consecutive times until a “Found new hardware” message shows up in the lower right corner of the desktop computer screen, followed by “Install the driver” window.

Release the Home button (or the Volume-Down)

The following snapshots show the driver installation steps:

Tips:

1. “Found new hardware“ window will automatically pop up several times on your desktop computer.

2. If the driver cannot be installed automatically, you can manually update the path to the folder containing the driver file. The default path is: C: \ Program Files \ OndaSuite \ Drivers \ AW_Driver.

3. If the same computer is used multiple times for the brushing process, the installation of the drivers is required only the first time.

4.3. After the drivers are installed, the process of flashing the firmware will start automatically. The steps are illustrated in the snapshots below – please make sure that you click on the correct buttons, as illustrated below:

At this point, the upgrade is complete. Turn off the upgrade tool and disconnect the USB cable. If the Tablet does not automatically turn on, press the power button for the manual boot. Please be patient as the first boot after the upgrade will take little longer time to complete.

Note: If the upgrade fails, unplug the USB cable from the Tablet, and then press the Power button for about 20 seconds to force the Tablet shutdown. Then repeat the process starting with the Step 4.
