Zadanie 1

My favorite dish is a traditional Polish dish. It's called bigos. Many people have tried to translate this name into a number of languages, but I don't think these names will ever fully reflect the meaning of the Polish word. It's like a mish-mash of everything. The main ingredients that make up bigos include: sour kraut, sausages, mushrooms, many different kinds of meat, tomato juice, and spices. You can actually put many other things in there. You certainly want to ask how it's done. Simple. You cook the sour kraut until it's no longer sour and then start adding all the ingredients. Spice it up and it's ready to go.

I was in the parking lot over there, putting my shoppings in the trunk of my car when I suddenly heard a loud noise. I turned my head and I noticed a black van speeding away from the accident scene. I thought it must have been at fault, because innocent people don't run away. I didn't see anybody hurt though. The only thing hat caught my attention was the lamp post that looked a little crooked.

What would you say about going to the sea?

Watching a castle is a wonderful idea, but we can do it on a rainy day. Look at the weather today! It would be shameful if we stayed indoor.

Well, sightseeing is what we can do in the evening. I tell you what. I heard of this Olympic swimming pool that we can go to and cool down for a while. I supposed on our way back home we can do some sightseeing as well. It's only for 2 and three hours. In addition, that will give you a chance to try that swimming suit you bought yesterday. This time I'm almost begging :) Please!

This is a picture of a group of construction works building a house. They are at the construction site. I don't think the picture was taken in Poland, because the Polish houses are usually made of concrete. This is a wooden house. My best guess is that they are in the USA or Canada.

Pytanie 1. I think they are extremely busy. They have some deadlines and they have to build the house on time. this is what they are paid to do.

Pytanie 2. I would like to study Information Technology. I think computers are an integral part of our lives. they are everywhere and that's where I want to be. Perhaps, I will specialize in e-commerce. Of course, I want to learn some programming languages.

B: Certainly sir. There's a bus to Cambridge every two hours, or a direct train twice a day.

A: Oh, that's great. And do you know if there are any cheap hostels somewhere near the city centre there?

B: Of course there are, but I think you should call a few days in advance and book the accomodation.

A: Thanks for the advice. One more thing, can you tell me something about the most well known tourist spots that I should see?

B: I think the University campus is a must-see for all the tousists, and Cavendish Laboratory maybe.

B: No problem.

A: Hi guys, you know what i have just seen? A road accident!

B: Really? What happened?

A: Some fellow was walking along a road reading a newspaper and he didn't notice that he entered a zebra crossing and a car hit him.

B: Oh come on, you're pulling my leg!

A: No, really. The guy was knocked over and it seems he broke his leg! Some old ladies started screaming and people called the police. I think I will have to be a witness.

B: Well that sounds quite probable.

A: Good morning sir. I'd like to make a complaint about my holidays.

B: Good morning. Yes, what's the problem?

A: I don't know where to start. Well, first of all when we arrived at the hotel it turned out it's only two-star and not three-star. Besides, it was much further from the sea than you said it would be.

B: Oh yes. It's because, you see we had to change your accomodation because of the renovation of the hotel you were supposed to stay at, but we did our best to keep the standards.

A: Maybe you tried, maybe you did not, but it was not what I paid for so I demand refund.

B: Well, of course thats your right, but I cannot make any decision myself, you will have to talk to the manager.....

In the Picture there are two people, a man on the left and a women on the right. They are both in their thirties I think and they seem to be happy. They are wearing only T-shirts and shorts so I guess it is a warm summer day. On their backs they have big backpacks so I think they're on holiday, or maybe on a trekking journey. I guess they are somewhere in a city centre, because there are many cars in the background of the picture.

I think they are enjoying themselves because they are smiling and they seem to be satisfied with what they are doing. Especially the woman seems to be happy, she is smiling so widely and sincerely.

My dream holiday would be going on a trip aroud the world so that I could visit the biggest cities in the world and meet new people. I would also like to get to know some cultures in more details.

A: Hi. A have got a question. Could you tell me how I can find the nearest gym? I think i have to work out a bit.

B: Sure. It's not far. Just about ten minute walk from here towards the cinema. In fact The gym is only a few blocks further down the road. It's that big re-brick building. You cannot miss it.

A: Oh, all right. And do you know when it is open?

B: I'm not sure about that, but I think it's open every day from 9 a.m till about 5 or 6 p.m.

A: Sounds good. And it is expensive?

B: Well it wasn't the last time I visited it, besides you should get some discount, because you are a student.

A: Really? That's great! Thank you very much for the information.

B: No problem.

A: Hi, unfortunately I couldn't come earlier and I skipped the first three days of the course. Could you tell me what has happened so far?

B: Hello. Nothing really extraordinary happened. We had some good lessons, especially the grammar lessons are funny, I think you will like them, the teacher is really nice.

A: That's good. And what about our group? Is it big?

B: No, not really. There are 12 people in the group including you and me, so it's just perfect.

And there are a few pretty girls too.

A: So I bet you asked one out?

B: Yeah, sort of. We have some additional classes in the evening so there are many opportunities to spend some time together. Yesterday, for instance, we played snooker and danced.

A: Wow. I like it already.

B: But sir! Why can't we have the test on some other day, let's say Wednesday?

A: If the test is on Saturday you will have more time to revise.

B: But we don't need to revise, and it will be more difficult to get here on time on Saturday, when the public transport goes less often than in the week.

A: Well, maybe you're right, but I cannot come here on Wednesday.

B: Would Friday suit you?

A: Yes, so that's settled. the test will be on Friday at 10 a.m. Tell everyone who's absent today that they should come on Friday.

B: Ok, thank you very much.

In the picture I can see many young people who are sitting at desks. I think that they are in a school classroom, because I can also see an adult lady - I think she is their teacher. And there are some cupboards with books in the background. The children in the first row are interested in something that I cannot see in the picture, they are all looking at the same thing, but i don't know what that is. Children in the back rows are smiling I think so I believe it is an interesting and funny lesson.

I think that at least the children in the first row are paying attention to what is happening, but I not so sure about the people at the back.

I don't think it is a good idea to introduce such schools in Poland, because it would demotivate boys and cause many difficulties to teachers.

B: Good morning. I’m looking for a job, do you have any vacancies?

A: In fact I need a waiter, would that be good for you?

B: I think so, I worked as a waiter before so I know something about the job. How many hours a week would I have to work?

A: I need somebody to work 30 hours a week, but if I want to work more there should be no problem with that.

B: That’s great. And what’s the hourly rate of pay?

A: It’s Ł5.5 per hour minus taxes, and you will get some tips of course.

B: Ok, that suits me. When can I start?

A: Come tomorrow at 9 and someone will show you what to do.

B: Ok, see you then.

A: Bye.

Zadanie 2

A: During my holidays I worked as a waiter in a café in London.

B: Really? What did you do there.

A: In fact I had to do many things. I served the customers, cleaned, took care about the supplies. Sometimes I even had to close the café when we finished working or open it in the morning.

B: Sounds like a load of work.

A: Yes it was, but I liked it. I worked there only for a moth and a half, but I would like to work there again.

Zadanie 3

A: Hello. I'm looking for a job. I'm interested in something connected with working at a restaurant, because I worked as a chef and I have some experience.

B: Good morning. Let me see. The only jobs at restaurants available now are as waiters. Are you interested in that?

A: Well, not really. Because you see I am a qualified cook and I’d like to work as a cook.

B: But I cannot offer you anything like that at the moment.

A: Hmm. Is it possible for me to accept a job like that only for some time and in the meantime wait for some cook position?

B: You would have to discuss it with your employee, but I don’t think there would be any problems with that.

I In the picture there is a man sitting by a desk. He is working on a computer. He is rather young, I think he is in his twenties or early thirties. He seems really absorbed with his job so it is probably something very important. In the foreground there is another desk with two chairs, so I think that the man works for a big company with many different people.

I think he is working. He is smartly dressed and he is browsing or making some graphs and I don’t think he is doing that for fun.

Pytanie 2. What is your dream job? Why?

I would like to be an accountant. I want to work in a quiet place and with a computer if it is possible so I think that this job would be perfect for me.
