Row 1: 9 dc in 4th ch from hk, sl st in top of ch-4, do not turn - 10 sts.

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in next 9 sts. dc in base of ch-3, sl st in top of ch-3 - 20 sts.

Row 3: Ch 3, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) rep 9 times, dc in next st, dc in base of ch-3. sl st in top of ch-3 - 30 sts.

Row 4: Ch 3. (dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st) rep 9 times, dc in next 2 sts, dc in base of ch-3, sl st in top of ch-3 - 40 sts.

Row 5: Ch 3, (dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st) rep 9 times, dc in next 3 sts, dc in base of ch-3, sl st in top of ch-3 - 50 sts.

felting

Baste along the brim. puli the basting thread to the finished hat size and tie in a square knot. Felt the hat in the washer, checking often to see if the hat is the correct size. When felted to the desired size, try on the hat. carefully remove from washer, shape the top and tbrim, and let dry in a warm, dry place.

Baste to slie along the brim edge.
