Puff Stitch
A puff stitch is a cluster of half double crochet stitches (usually 3 to 5), worked into the same place, to ma*e a soft lump.
g It is necessary to work back into the 'knots' between the lengthened chains in order to make the classic Solomon's Knot fabric. see page 69.
A popcorn is a group of complete stitches, usually worked into the same place, folded and closed at the top. The number and type of stitches included varies.
To make a popcorn with 4 double crochet stitches
a Work 4 double crochet stitches into one stitch normally; b take the hook out of the working loop, insert it under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet in the group just madę, c pick up the working loop again and draw this through to close the group together and project it towards you. Notę: On a ‘wrong side! row insert the hook from behind and close the group so that it projects towards the back of the fabric.
A bobble is a cluster of stitches (usually 3 to 5) joined together at the top and also worked into the same place. Bobbles are thrown into relief most effectively when the stitches before and after them are shorter and they are worked on 'wrong side‘ rows.
To make a bobble of 3 double crochet stitches
a Work 3 double crochets, always inserting the hook into the same stitch and leavmg the last loop of each on the hook as for a dc3tog cluster (see page 10); wrap the yarn over the hook and draw through all the loops on the hook to complete. b It often helps, particu-larly with the bulkier bobble clusters. to work an extra cham stitch to close them firmly.
