The Cradle of Humankind

The Cradle of Humankind site in Gauteng, South Africa, is a complex of limestone caves that contains the richest collection of hominin (human ancestor) fossils anywhere in the world.

The Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, holds 94,700 spectators. Its design was inspired by the calabash -a traditional round African cooking pot.

has a crossed rifle and hoe on top of an open book to symbolize the struggle for freedom, agriculture, and education.

The black and white stripes on the Botswana flag are inspired by the zebra, the national animal. The blue colour is for water.

Vilakazi Street is the most famous Street in Soweto, South Africa. It was once home to two Nobel Peace prize winners—Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu (below), who both won the prize for their opposition to apartheid.
