Modeling with triangulated data

A TM is a useful and efficient way to cap turę the surface of a piece of land

TINs suppott perspective views. You can drape a photo grap hic image on top of a TIN for a photorealistic terrain display. TINs are particularly useful for modeling watersheds, visibility, line-of-sight, slope, aspect, ridges and rivers, and volumetric.

TINs can model points, lines, and polygons. A triangulation is madę of many mass points~ each an x,y,z tupie. Breaklinesrepresent streams, ridges, and other linear discontinuities. Bxclusion areas represent polygons with same elevation, such as lakes or project boundaries. Contour maps can be generated from a TIN, using linear interpolation or a smoothing algorithm.

Implementing data representation models

A geodatabase implements the vector data representation withjeature datasets and jeature classes, the raster data representation with raster datasets, and the triangulated data representation with tńangulated irregular networks (TINs).
