Through the course of studies they stay at the school dormitory at permanent command. Apart from studying, cadet-officers serve also as firefighters at the School Rescue and Firefighting Unit, where they also acąuire professional experience. The Unit protects operationally the whole area of Żoliborz quarter and within the framework of mutual assistance, the area of Warsaw. MSFS, as an operational resources support of the Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service, also takes part in fire fighting and rescue actions on the territory of Poland.
In case of resignation from the duty in State Fire Service within five years from completing the studies, graduates are obliged to return the costs of living to MSFS.
are awarded engineer degree 4n - -fire protection and official rank of Junior Captain in SFS. The top of the class graduates continue their studies in order to obtain master's degree in fire protection engineering. The remaining graduates may apply for studying at the extramural master studies.
Prospective students applying to civilian daily courses are recruited on the basis of two-step procedurę. The first step is an entrance exam in mathematics and physics after providing necessary documents. The second step is an interview for these candidates who successfully underwent first step of the recruitment process. Civilian daily or extramural courses last eight semesters. After obtaining the engineer degree in fire safety engineering, graduates can continue their education at master daily courses (the top of the class) or at extramural master studies.
After graduating a specialist in fire safety engineering is able:

to evaluate fire and explosion risks and know the methods of reducing them to design, maintain and inspect fire protection Systems to conduct fire protection training to prepare rescue plans

- to apply in practice fore protection rules and regulations
The Faculty of Civil Safety Engineering
This faculty educates specialists for govemment and local authorities organs and economic entities in protection of population against effects of natural and man-made disasters. Students acquire knowledge in the field of civil safety, including civil planning, disaster prevention, CIMIC1, liquidation of emergency events results.
Three and a half years (i.e. seven semesters) of studying at day classes and four-week professional practice entitle to obtain engineer degree in civil safety engineering. Then graduates can continue their education at extramural master studies, which last three semesters.
