STUDIES ON EARLY-BRONZE AGE IN THE NORTHERN PART OF SILESIA (MULTICULTURE SETTLEMENT IN RAJCZYN NEAR WIŃSKO, PROVINCE OF WROCŁAW)
Summaty
The Chair of Archaeology of the University of Wrocław carried out investigations to verify the sites of the early period of Bronze Age in the forking of rivers Odra and Barycz, westwards from Wińsko and Wołów. Among several settlement-spots selected for excavations expIoration works have been undertaken at site no. 28 in Ra jeżyn. The site is situated on a broad terrace on the right side of the road connecting the vilłages Gryżyce and Dąbie (Platę XVI.1). On the border of the same terrace there are two morę sites where Early-Bronze Age pottery was discovered.
On a surface of 54 nr 10 objects have been exposed and investigated, of which 6 were seized in fuli outline. Apart of rubbish dumps and storage pits (8 pits) a hearth and a lime-kiln (Fig. 5, Platę XVI.2) were found. Most of the objects are linked with the Lusatian culture (Figs. 1, 2), again, the hearth comes from the late Pre-Roman period (Figs. 3, 4). The shape of the hearth, its construction and some of the details recorded during investigation show that it can be regarded as an analogy of the hearth discovered recently in Grębocice, province of Legnica.
Despite fragments of ceramics from the early period of Bronze Age (among others, decorated with the so-called textile ornamentation) occurring on the surface, no immobile objects have been found. Planned are further investigations and their extension by sites no. 11 and 20 in Gryżyce.
