Achieving Quality Results Through Blended Management

Abstract

Quality management principles are being embraced throughout the U.S. to improve the global competitiveness of products and services. In order to successfully deploy these strategies, managers need to understand employee motivation and tap into all of an organization's human resources. Successful deployment reąuires blended management, a combination of top-down direction and bottom-up contributions. This paper defines a generic methodology for gaining commitment to quality initiatives, and examines several companies which have successfully applied the principles of blended management.
