On the day following his exhibition at the N.S.C. Apollon created a new British professional weight-lifting record at 12-stone on the Puli Over and Press on Back without Bridge by lifting 249-lbs. This feat was witnessed by several famous Physical Culturists and refereed by Mr. W. J. Lowry, Secretary of the B.A.W.L.A.
On the 28th June, 1927, at the Chickenley Weight Lifting Club, The Mighty Apollon madę a Two Ilands Dead Lift of 551f-lbs. (the heaviest weight ever lifted by an Englishman), and a Two Ilands Clean and Press from Behind Neck of 201|-lbs. These records were ntade at a body-weight of less than 11 Stones, and were officially passed by Mr. Wm. McKie, of Bradford.
He broke his own British Heavv-weight record on 17th Dccem-ber, 1928, when lic madę a Two Hands Press from Behind Neck of 214Ą pounds, wilh Mr. McKie again ofliciating. It is interesting to notę that Apollon went straight to this terrific poundage without previously warming up.
Hc has founded a Mail Order System of Physical Culture which has proved a stupendous success, as his thousands of testimonials prove.
He docs not consider hc has yet reached the peak of his development and strength and trains daily, using the system of exerciscs he devised at the beginning of his carecr.
His present measurements are: Weight 13-st. 2-lbs.; Height 5 fcet 6-ins.; Neck 174-ins; Chest 45 ordinary (expanded 484-ins.); Waist 32-ins.; Forearm 14^-ins.; Biceps 17£-ins.; Thighs 24-ins.; Calf 16-ins.
