The innervation ot the smali and large intestines is by the sympa thetit and parasympathetic fibers of the autonomie nervous system, which comprises the extrinsic innervation of the Gl traci. Sympa-thetic fibers originate trom the thoracnlumbar spinał cord (T5-L2) and distribute to collateral gangiia \celiac, superior mesenteric, infe-rior mesenteric). Parasympathetic fil>crs i orne from the vagus and pelvic splanchnic nerves (S2-S4).
