Autonomie lnnervation
m generał sympathetics decrease peristalsis and secretomotor activity (i.e., decreased fluid secretion), whereas parasympathetics nerease peristalsis, relax involuntary sphincters, and incrcase secre-rocnotor activity (i.e., inereased fluid secretion). Feedback loops to the central nervous system, espccially the hypothalamus and its corti-cal projections, integrate visceral function and coordinate activity between the extrinsic and intrinsic neurons of the bowcl.
