Transmission
The four forward geors are synchronized. The helicolly cut gcars ore in constan! mesh and opcralc silenłly.
The design of the transmission i$ the same os the one which has becn instollcd in the VW Transporter sińce May 1959. The mog-nesium die cast transmission is a one-piece construction. The drive pinion carries the sychronizing unils for the lst and 2nd gear, the main drive shoft the units for the 3rd and 4th gears. The rotios havc been adopted to suit the incrcascd engine performonce.
