Therapy for the rhomboidei major and minor. P prone.
Starting Position: P: Prone; right arm hanging free over edge of couch. T: Standing at head of couch. to P's left.
Grip: Ts left hand on P’s right scapula, its thenar eminence along the scapula medial border. T's right hand steadies P’s thorax from P’s left.
Fig. 16 a. Starting Position.
Procedurę: Using this grip, T gradually and maximally pushes in a lateral, ventral and caudal direction against P’s scapula.
Stimulation of Antagonists: T moves left-hand grip to ventral side of P's right shoulder, and uses right hand to stabilize P’s thorax on right side. T then asks P to move further in the direction of stretching, and resists that movement to stimulate P’s antagonists.
Notę: The trapezius, transverse part is also stretched in this procedurę.
If the prone position is inconvenient or uncomfort-able, P may be treated lying on side; see following techniąue, therapy 2.3.5B, p. 34.
