The pairs of colors whose names are listed below in red should be combincd in the needle to produce a shaded effect. To combine the first pair, for example, take one strand of lt. yellow and place it with one strand of lt. orangc. Thread cvcrything into the needle at the same time.

Use the following combined colors for Cross Stitch.

HOW TO READ THE CHART

To make the chart easy to read, parts of it are in color. The sąuares on the chart correspond to the fabric squarcs. Blank sąuares indicatc unstitched fabric.

Each Cross and Half Cross Stitch is shown by a symbol fforn the symbol list. The details, which are to be added after the Cross and Half Cross Stitches are completed, are shown on the chart also.

Stitching Order

Work your Cross and Half Cross Stitches first. To start, fol Iow the arrows at the chart edges to find the center. Find the marked center of your fabric. Locate the nearest symbol, thcn takc your first stitch at the corresponding fabric square.

Continue to work the remaining Cross and Half Cross Stitches. Symbols which foli under detail lines should be workcd with an entire Cross Stitch, not a partial stitch.

Add the details next. Use the number of strands indicated by the numbers in parentheses below.

You can work your Back Stitches over every square or over several sąuares as we have done on our stitched design. The longer stitches make a smoothcr outline, but we do not recommend extending stitches any morę than 9 fabric sąuares.
