PISTON

Main bearing selection

a.    Numbers are stamped on the connecting rod and cap corresponding to each cylinder. Care should be taken to avoid a wrong combination including bearing.

b.    When pressing piston pin in connecting rod, apply engine oil to pin and smali end of connecting rod.

CRANKSHAFT

1. Set main bearings in ,the proper position on cylinder błock.

1. If all of crankshaft, cylinder błock and main bearing are replaced with new ones, it is neces-sary to select thickness of main bearings as follows:

If either crankshaft, cylinder błock or main bearing is reused again, it is necessary to measure main bearing clearance with plastigage.

a. Each engine is punched with numbers which indicate cylinder błock main journal. Each borę is measured separately.

b. Each crankshaft is punched with numbers which indicate main journal dimensions. Each journal is measured separately.

In casa No. 5 journal is grade No. 3.
