Hexagonal Mats

These mats are variations on the centre piece of the Star pattern below. They can be joined together into a tea-table-cloth.

The Star

Yarn: D.M.C. No. 30 Size: 39 cm. (15f in.)

Abbreviations: Number = number of double stitches between the picots, R = ring, C = chain, + = joining, — = picot Number ofshuttles: One, and second thread

The centre motif: R5 — 5 — 5 — 5. R5 + 5— 5 — 5. R5 + 5— 5 — 5.

R5 + 5—5 —5. R5 + 5 — 5—5—. R5 + 5—5 + 5.

Tie threads and cut. Join smali sections as illustrated.

The motifsurrounding the centre consists of alternately, R5 — 5 — 5 — 5 and C5 — 5.

The star points are each madę up of seven stars. They are worked as follows: R5 —5—5 —5andC5 —5 —5 —5.
