Anencephaly

The cranial vault is hypoplastic or absent, the bones at the base of the skuli are thickned The orbits are shallow resultlng in characteristic protrusion of the eyes and a „froglike" face The neurohypophysis is absent and the anterior pituitary is smaller than normal with lack of trophic hormones, abnormalities of the vertebral bodies or spinał cord may also be present Lungs and adrenal glands are hypoplastic
