The problem discussed in the book and conceming children functioning in foster and dysfunctional families is of vital importance both to the theory and practicc of social educational pedagogy. It enables to better understand thesituation of families of a different structure from that of the natural family and, consequently, plan a morę effcctiee psychological, pedagogical and social help for these families.
The book is composed of two principal parts: theoretical and practical (meth-odological with tables and charts) oncs. The first part presents a complex analysis and reflection on the family as the educational environments stimulating the optimum development of a child. A lot of space is also devoted to the cmotional development of a child and the satisfaction of the latter's needs as well as to the problem pf social orphanhood and its compensation. The other part discusses the basie research assumptions and characterization of the applied methods logelher with the way of conducting the studies. Besides, quantitative and qualitativc analyses have been madę of the obtained empirical results as well as the results of studies referring to the realization of the basie physical and psychical needs of the child ren and the youth from foster and dysfunctional families in the family, school and matę environments. This part of the present publication also analyses the influence of the level of sałisfying the basie physical and psychical needs on the process of socialization of children and teenagers from foster and dysfunctional families. The closing part of the project, on the other hand, summarizes the analyses and formulates the finał conclusions and optimization postulałeś.
The main purpose of the research was to diagnose the stale of deprivation of physical and psychical needs of social orphans staying in foster families as com-pa red to the children from norma! dysfunctional families, and to establish its effect on the level of social and morał maturity of the studied populntion in the process of socialization- The studies were also to indicate the scope in which foster and dysfunctional families satisfy the children's basie physical and psychical needs.
