Instałling the Admiralty Updating Service
The Admiralty Updating Service software and User Guides can be downłoaded from the UKHO website by following the 'Download the latest digital chart updates here’ link at the bottom of the digital charts pages.
To install the Admiralty Updating Service please follow the steps bełow:
1. Close all programs/applications.
2. Unzip the downłoaded file to a temporary folder.
3. Open the temporary folder, locate and run (double click on) the file named setup.exe.
4. Select the Updating Service that you wish to install:
a) AVCS users should install the ENC Online Updating Service.
b) ARCS users should install the ARCS Online Updating Service.
c) ECDIS Service users should install both ENC and ARCS Online Updating Services.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
6. To launch the Admiralty Updating Service, double click on the desktop icon or select it from the Start menu.Then select the Admiralty digital chart service to be updated.

The ENC Online Updating Service is used to update ENC content in the Admiralty Vector Chart Service (AVCS) and the Admiralty ECDIS Service.
Before you start you will need:
• Your latest AVCS or Admiralty ECDIS Service ENC Update CD (this should be the same one that was used to update your ECDIS and not a previously compiled Online Update Service CD which contains downłoaded inłormation).
• Your ENC Chart Permit files.
• A writeable CD or ottler transfer medium that is supported by your ECDIS (e.g. USB memory stick).
Use the toolbar buttons starting from the top left side of the screen to set up the application up for initial use. Buttons are disabled until the application has been given sufficient information for them to operate correctly. The initial setup tasks are:

Notę: During initial setup the ‘Read the email lnbox’ button will remain disabled. If the initial ENC catalogue update is requested by email it will be necessary to double-click on the retumed attachment file to get it to load in the Online Updating software. | |
Tick the ‘Only show cells that need updating’ and ‘Only show cells that are licensed’ to restrict the list of ENCs in the Known Cells Window to those held on board that reguire an update. | |

Select the ‘Settings’ button to change the method of download (internet, email or email from anoiher Computer), maximum email size (values of 128,256,512,1024 and 2048 KB are allowed). |

Use the Request buttons or drag-and-drop to populate the Request List Window with ENCs to be updated and then send the request to the UKHO. A subset of the ENCs held on board may be selected to reduce the size of the update that will be downłoaded. |
Check the expected size of the update at the bottom of the Request List Window and click Send Request to start the update process. | |

Select the ‘Create Exchange Set’ button to generate the ENC Update CD structure that will be used to update the ECDIS. Then transfer the Exchange Set created to your ECDIS by burning it to CD (set the CD Volume Name to V01X01) or on another media such as USB memory stick. |
