•    South Korea put testing at the heart of its planned response, making tests available to all people as soon as they had capacity and implementing rigorous contact tracing for all cases just five weeks after their initial confirmed case

•    This approach is credited with keeping the outbreak controlled at an early stage and has enabled South Korea to maintain testing at relatively Iow levels (0 - 0.4 per thousand people) while controlling the virus

•    Within Europę, Germany has taken the most similar approach to Korea, with rigorous contract tracing from the outset and widespread availability

•    The U.K. implemented testing later, and initially prioritised it for admitted patients, and NHS, social care or essential workers with symptoms, only becoming available to all people with symptoms in May

•    Since then, the U.K. has increased testing yolumes substantially, reaching 0.8 - 1.2 tests per thousand people, and has re-introduced a contract tracing approach last undertaken in March
