Beautiful, ancient Cracow will entertain delegates for The International Federation of Surveyors. Our nice colleagues will assemble from antipodes of geoid Europę, America and Asia.

Pretty good honour occur to our Association, on The Con-gress in Delft (Holland) 1958, being entrusted with organi-zation of Permanent Committee Session. That trust of Con-gress and Federation’s Office are based on the strong po-sition and good opinion about the activity of our Association in the international geodetic sphere. Indeed sińce 1926 our Association has been in the group of oldest members of Federation. Already before last war — in spite of then existing several Polish surveyors associations — we -were able to form a union and to constitute one representation. Late Władysław Surmacki was vicepresident of Federation’s Office. In the last years our Accociation gave a good inwest-ment in the work of international community and the problem of constant improving of surveying knowledge. In a recordly short time there was prepared a five-language gecdetical dictionary. It could be realized owing to the sup-port of the Polish Republic’s Government.

Present works at the organization of Permanent Committee Session are entering in the finał phase. Our efforts, our endeavours are to prepare carefully and successfully this session in Cracow. We want that experience exchange among federated associations, in the sphere of science, tecnnic and organization of geodetic works, finds place in the fuliest way and secures further successful progress of Federation.

We are greeting our dear visitors with the warmest heart. In the name of Association of Polish Surveyors I am wi-shing our Colleagues from Federation: „make yourself at home” in this country. We want to show to you and to your families cur surveying works and the beauty of our country. We want to make pleasant your stay here. Ne-vertheless we should ask you for some leniency for us — organizers, if there were some organizing mishaps c-r some inconveniences. We should like to assure you those incon-veniences may occur only in ccnseąuence of the great war destruction, whose effects — in spite of great efforts of the whole nation and big achievements — we could not remove entirely up to this day.

I am wishing Permanent Committee the most fruitful de-bates and yisitors good time in Poland.
