amends for losing the Councy Under 14 ‘B’ finał when they accounted for Holycross-Ballycahill by three points in a hard fought Under 16 ’B' decider in The Ragg last Sunday.Templederry inspired by an excellent performance from Brian Stapleton who scored seven points from play led at the interval by a point and despite a storming finish by Holycross the tide went to the North Champions. The ‘A’ decider has yet to be played. Knockavilla Kickhams following a semi finał win over Nenagh Eire Óg last weekend have qualified for the finał. Durlas Óg płays the winners of the South Division in the other semi finał.
Tipperary Under 14. Under 15 and Under 16 teams acquitted themselves with distinction on the weekend of 25th/26th August. The Under I6's successfulły retained the Tipperary Supporters Club Ali Ireland Under 16 titlc while the Under 14 s and 15 s were defeated in their respecdve finałs.
The Under 16 s drew with Kilkenny in their opening match and scored a five point win over Cork in their second match to set up a semi finał meeting with Um-eridcThis was a very cłose match andTipp held on for a one point victory.The finał against Dublin never lived up to expectations and Tipp gave a tremendous exhi-bition of hurłing and were always in contro!.They led by ł -7 to 0-4 at the interval and they outscored Dublin by 14 points to one in the second hałf to run out the most convincing of winners on a score on 1-21 to 0-5. Weil done to the players and selectors on a mar-vellous achievement in retaining the Tipperary Supporters Club Ali Ireland title.
Tipperary were defeated by Waterford in the finał of the Tony Forristal Under 14 hurling toumamentTip-perary had qualified for the finał by virtue of winning their section that included Limerick, Dublin and Cork. In the preliminary rounds Tipperary defeated Limerick and Dublin and lost to Cork. Despite losing to Cork Tiperary qualificd for che finał on scoring aggregate. The finał was played in Walsh Park. Waterford led at the interval by 0-6 to 0-2. Waterford dominated the second half and went on to win by 0-12 to 0-4 to claim their first ever victory in the toumament after 26 years.
Tipperary for the third year in a row suffered defeat in the finał of the Under 15 Carrigdhoun Toumament. Tipperary defeated Clare and Waterford, drew with Limerick and lost to Cork in their group rounds. This was enough for Tipperary to qualify for the finał where their opponents would be Cork. A depleted Tipperary team that lined out without some key players were no match for a very strong Cork team in the finał. Cork were always in control and won comprehcnsively in
the end.
North Tipperary retained the Under 16 Garda Cup tide following a ten point win over South Tipperary in the finał. The holders defeated West Tipperary in the semi finał and South Tipperary qualified for che finał following victory over Mid Tipperary.
Mid Tipperary won the Peadar Cummins Under 14 hurling toumament hosted by the Borrisoleigh dub. Mid Tipperary had a narrow victory over South Tipperary in the semi finał while North Tipperary were convincing winners over West Tipperary in the other semi finał. A great second half display by the Mid team saw them get the better of the holders in a thrilling finał. South Tipperary beat West Tipperary in the Shield Finał.
