SUBJECT: Multifunction Handle Upgrade
Several Ergonomic changes have been made to the multifunction and Omnitrol handle assembly.
" Increase edge radius of side cover to improve hand clearance and ergonomics.
" Changed spring tension to reduce handle effort and increase cushioning to stops.
" Changed horn button to a higher profile type to increase tactile feedback in horn actuation.
Parts Required for Upgrade
The listed parts are used in conjunction with existing parts to complete the modification. Order
all the parts from TABLE 1 and order the proper handle assembly from TABLE 2.

IMPORTANT: For all assemblies except 2015291, Item 23 must be purchased as a matched
set with control module (see 2015093).
Removal / Installation Procedure
Refer to the Electrical System section (section 2200) of the Narrow Aisle Service Manual for
removal and installation instructions.
NOTE:
Micro switches 2309240 are to be adjusted so that the plunger is not depressed when the
mechanism is in neutral. Appropriate switch should actuate as soon as the handle is moved.
Switch must not bottom out and bind handle.
Route wire from multifunction handle through clamp 136486 mounted on the T-plate assembly,
then through clamp mounted on mount weldment plug in to D-connector on pot and PC board
assembly 2013858.
Adjust location of return block (Item 15) by spinning fully assembled spring pot assembly until
leg of T-plate assembly is approximately perpendicular to mount weldment plate. This provides
neutral position.
Adjust pot and PC board assembly so that a small amount of lash exists at full forward, neutral,
and full reverse positions. Binding or side loading of pot must not be evident. Handle the pot and
PC board assembly, 2013858, with care. Do not touch the connector pins. Touch metal case
and connector body only.
Adjust the potentiometer for mid-range. Compare the resistance measured between terminal 1
and 2 with the resistance measured between terminals 2 and 3. The potentiometer is at the mid-
range position when the resistance readings are equal within 100 ohms. Rotate the potentiom-
eter shaft for the correct resistance readings.
Assembly must operate smoothly with out binding. Handle wobble in the return block area,
(bottom of T-plate), must measure 1/16' outboard, and 3/32" inboard max.
