The Kiev College was established by Peter Mohyla as a centre of the 17th century Orthodox theology; when preparing new editions of the Bibie and other liturgical texts, based on western iconographic themes, the College understandably adopted the nearest available patterns, namely ones from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.27 Kiev and Lvov, as the two biggest printing centres in the Ukrainę, produced woodcuts that spread to the entire east of Europę, in particular to Russia
