Summan. This paper analyses the word formation chaplers in selected course books for leaming Slovenian and Polish as foreign languages on the basis of the different modes in which this problem is presented and by its freąuency. At the exams in Slovenian or Polish as a foreign language, it is expected from the candidates to have practical knowledge of the word formation mechanisms in a given language, therefore the aim of this paper is also to verify if the presentation modes of the word formation chapters in the selected course books demonstrate a sufficient level of correlation with tlie reąuirements of the exams in Slovenian/Polish as a foreign language.
