niSTORY OF THE CLASS OF 1915

In th<* montli ot* September, 191L, ninety-four little urchins toddled ii|> the steps to High School. Sonie erept in timidly all alone, others were accompanied by anxious mammas, wliile still others marched in boldly with an air of bravado to cover their inward misgivings. We trembled in fear of the upper elassmen, for the Sophomores dared to eall us “green, unsopbistieated Freshies;^M the Juniora laughed joyously when we caine walking into their classrooms, and the Seniora east sharp. reproving glances on us if we happened to occupy their seats in the study rooin. By alinost superhuman efforts the teachers rnanaged to eultivate in us a taste for high deportinent grades.

In due season we had distinguished ourselees on the football field, being represented by four husky athletes. Preliminary track-meet time caine—we strode through it and emerged in a blaze of glory. High School pienie, finał exams, and our fi rat year was over.

With a notieeable diininution in our numbers we entered Rooin 7 the next fali. It seemed very strangę to be all together in one big rooin, but what was stranger still tlie girls all erowded to one side of the study hall, wliile the boys, eridently terrified by such an array of “beautiful” elassmates, łied to the opposite side. And tlms we re-mained.

Care-free as was our life in those days, still we were not idle. We repeated our achieveinents on the gridiron and nonę ca red to dispute our title to traek-meet honors. The wliole year seemed lmt a glorious sumnier day, with never a eloud in the sky. till evening stole down and found us half way on the road to graduation.

With only an occasional break in the nionotony we had gone this far in Iiigh School, but now as Juniors an awakening took place. The first notable cvent was the selection of class pins and to every Junior caine the joy of proudly exhibiting his to an admir-ing group of Sophomores. This year the school became members of the Triangular Debating Team. The class of 1 ■’> furnished the majority of members of the Salem rep-resentatives. In May plans were furthered for a class party and on the twenty-seventh of that montli we spent a memorable evening at the bonie of .Miss Marburger. Again our annual pienie, the honor of decorating the Opera House for commencement and we reluctantly tum our thoughts to our Senior year.

In this last and glorious term events have happened in rapid succession. On the twenty-second of October we celebrated Hallowe'en with a masquerade in which every-one joined heartily. A montli later, with the eonsent of the Board of Education. we concluded to publish the Reveille. Shortly after the holidays work was begun on the de ba te and again this class distinguished itself along the lines of oratory.

The staging of our class play, “The Pipeiy ’ the production of a German play, and last of all, Commencement only remains to complete four happy, yet profitable years, for which we are verv grateful to those who have co-operated to make them a success.
