TOPIC / THEME: Small - Sided Game - Defending

OBJECTIVE OF PRACTICE:
To improve the players ability to defend in 1 v 1 situations
ORGANISATION:
	Grid size: 40m x 30m with 4 x 3m goals 2 teams of 4 players Players look to create space for themselves and team-mates, then exploit the space Players look to deny space for their opponents and prevent a goal being scored Games last 3 minutes with 1 minute rest between games

KEY OBSERVATION FACTORS:

Close down the ball quickly, but be under control. As the defender travels to close down the attacker - Assess the attackers 1st touch. Bad 1st touch - nick the ball Good 1st touch - delay approach Threaten the ball using the correct stance - bent knees & side on Force Attacker away from goal Jockey & delay to wait for help or to win the ball.

NOTES:

Encourage counter attack when possession is regained
