The ghost
Three hundred years ago, a very old man called Mr Grift died alone in a brown wooden coffin. Two weeks passed before a neighbour found him. The old cabin wrecked soon and everyone forgot about the old man, coffin and house. However, three hundred years later Mr Grift appeared again to finish the matter.
On the place of the cabin was a beautiful enormous castle. It was a property of insurance agency, which bought it on the auction. The previous property owner died without an heir. The company was developing very fast, clients were delighted and the members of the staff were like one big family. Some of them lived in the castle: Jill, Jake, Tim with his wife and Jimmy. They were very fond of each other.
One night, just after midnight, the steps in the corridor woke up the occupants. They thought it was some of their neighbour so they decided not to check it. In the morning, they started talking about the incident. The discussion revealed that none of them was walking in the corridor. The conversation finished with a quick glance of the occupants.
The next night none of them was sleeping. They did not hear the steps but there was something worse. All of them heard the words “HELP ME”. Jill and Jim's wife started screaming. The boys went out to the corridor and saw Mr Grift for a short while.
The next night they did not sleep. They were waiting for the ghost. The only way, which they thought up, was ask Mr Grift how they could help him. He finally visited their room and wrote on the misty mirror words “GIVE ME MY LAND”. This sentence revealed the secret. The neighbour who saw dead Mr Grift went to the priest and claimed that he found the dead body of an old man. He did not say his and the man's name so no one knew about the incident. The neighbour seized the land and everyone forgot about the matter.
The ending of the story is easy to guess. The company signed the land over to dead Mr Grift and his soul could walk away in peace.
