Grammar ex. (3) –choosing the correct form of the verb; filling in the gaps with correct forms of verbs; matching the sentences |
- “I hope you managed to do at least first three exercises. So in exercise 1 you have to decide which verb form is correct. This activity is about past simple and past continuous so you should remember about using while and when with these tenses. So please, tell me what tense we use after when?” – the T wants to elicit answer past simple then she asks the same question about while and during. – “Now we are ready to check your answers.” – the T goes through the answers helping if necessary.
- “Look at exercise 2. This time you have to fill in the gaps with correct verb from the table. But you have to change the form of the verbs so that the sentence is correct. First, tell me what those verbs mean?” - the T wants Ss to translate verbs into Polish. – “Now I’d like one of you to read aloud the whole text.” – the T chooses one S and corrects him/her if necessary.
- “Let’s move on to next exercise. Your task here is to match the halves of the sentences to make logically correct ones. You have to remember the rules we have just mentioned – I mean the usage of during, while and when. Now I want one of you to do the first example.” – the T chooses Ss to do the other examples, she helps them or corrects them.

vocabulary ex.(4) – word building (nouns from verbs); gap filling |
- “Please look at exercise 4. This time we are going to revise vocabulary. You can see here five sentences with gaps to fill in. But you have helping tips in brackets. The task is to form correct word from the given tip. For example in first sentence The two ____ took the man to a house in the forest. we can see in the brackets word kidnap which is a verb. The missing word in the sentence is noun in plural. So we have to form a plural noun from a verb kidnap which is kidnappers. Now I’d like you to do the remaining ones.” – the T chooses Ss to do the exercise aloud.
- “ Now exercise 5 . Please look at the picture first and tell me what does the woman look like?” – the T wants to elicit answers about the appearance of the woman. – “Now I’d like one person to read Policeman’s sentences and another one to read the Witness’s and fill in the missing words.” – the T helps if necessary.
-“Look at exercise 6. Your task is to find the word that don’t fit to the group. I’d like one to read the words, translate them and then decide which one is odd.” – the T goes through the answers helping if necessary.
-“And last exercise. There are four sentences and your task is to guess the missing word from the context. Let’s start!” – the T chooses the Ss to do the exercise, she helps if necessary.
