An animal I would like to have is panda. Unfortunately beast of prey can not be a pet. Environmental protection belongs to my interests, so I am worried about reducing amount of this endangered species. There are about 1600 individuals living in the wild.

The Giant Panda has a body shape typical of bears. It has black fur on its ears, eye patches, muzzle, legs, arms and shoulders. The rest of the animal's coat is white. This characteristic appearance makes pandas very popular. Adults measure around 1,5 m long and around 75 cm tall at the shoulder.

If I had a panda I would have a problem with feeding it. This mammal eats enormous amounts of bamboo. Pandas sacrifices 16 hours a day to get food, because they need 10-20 kilos of this plants. They eat also honey, eggs, fish or even rodents like pikas (kind of rabbit). The Giant Panda is clumsy animal, but it can skillfully climbs a tree. However it tires very easily and takes every opportunity to take a rest.

I realize that I can not have a panda at home, but I know that there are reservations, where pandas are protected. There is also a few zoos, where lives The Giant Pandas, for example in Berlin or Vienna. They can reproduce in captivity so people try to provide them properly conditions, but it is not easy. A little panda’s birth must be a big event.
