Whipping up a batch of these seasonal scrubs will fill your house with scents of cinnamon and clove. Not only that, they make wonderful gifts for neighbors, friends and teachers. Who wouldn’t like to be gifted a pumpkin spice facial scrub?! Or a clove and coffee body scrub that is both revitalizing and rich in antioxidants? A good at-home scrub only takes a few ingredients that you probably already have on hand.
1 cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 cup jojoba or avocado oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl and mix thoroughly. Depending on the desired consistency you can add more oil or less sugar. Use the scrub on damp skin, concentrating on rough areas like elbow and knees. Store the scrub in an air-tight container and use within a few weeks.
½ cup coffee beans
1/3 cup raw sugar
1 teaspoon ground cloves
3 tablespoons olive or jojoba oil
In a coffee grinder, combine the beans, sugar and cloves, and grind until it reaches your desired coarseness. In a small bowl, add the oil slowly to the coffee bean mixture and stir to combine. Use the scrub on damp skin, concentrating on rough areas like elbows and knees. Store in an air-tight container.
1 cup brown sugar (the finer the better)
1/2 cup jojoba oil for oily skin, or 1/2 cup coconut oil for dry/normal skin
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Oil from a few vitamin E capsules, or 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Apply the scrub to clean skin using your ring and pinky fingertips and warm water. Gently move the scrub around your face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Once you’ve done a few rotations over your face, rinse with warm water. Remember, the lighter the pressure the better!
