A Carcassonne Central expansion by Novelty
There are some who think that worshipping on high places brings them closer to the divine. Shrines
are erected to their deity of choice high up in the mountains. Seclusion for mediation and meeting
the divine may also be found in the cloisters high up in the mountains.

IECES
• 36 new tiles, some of which depict the following:
Mountain Shrine
This is a shrine located in the mountains. All the normal rules for shrines also apply to a tile with the
mountain shrine.
Mountain Cloister
This is a cloister located in the mountains. All the normal rules for cloisters also apply to a tile with
the mountain cloister.
ADDITIONAL RULES
Preparation
This expansion is designed to be played together with the fan-made Mountains expansion. Shuffle the tiles with the
rest of the other tiles.
1. Place a tile
The tiles are placed in accordance to the fan-made Mountain expansion rules. A mountain shrine is considered to be
a shrine and a mountain cloister is considered to be a cloister. As such, the rules that affect the placement and
challenges of shrines and cloisters apply equally to mountain shrines and mountain cloisters. A mountain shrine
may challenge a cloister or abbey or mountain cloister. Likewise a mountain cloister may challenge a shrine or a
mountain shrine.
2. Deploy a follower
Followers may be placed on a mountain shrine or a mountain cloister.
Followers may not be played on a farm on a tile that is enclosed by cities and mountains.
3. Score a completed mountain shrine / mountain cloister
Mountain shrines and mountain cloisters are scored in the same way as normal shrines and cloisters respectively.
A farmer may not be
played on the farm as it
is enclosed by cities and
mountains.
