All of the sentences are false.
Use a word from the Word Bank to make each sentence true.
1. Earth is the closest planet to the sun.
2. One orbit of Jupiter around the sun is 365 days.
3. Jupiter is the smallest planet in the solar system.
4. If you lived on Mars, you would weigh more than you do on Earth.
5. Saturn takes the longest time of all the planets to orbit the sun.
6. Pluto is the largest planet in the solar system.

Procedure
1 Remind pupils of the names of the different planets in the solar system, referring them to page 42 of New English
Parade 6 if necessary. Ask a few simple questions to test their memory (Which is the biggest planet? (Jupiter.)
Which planet is closest to the sun (Mercury.))
2 Distribute the worksheets. Explain that pupils are going to read some facts about the solar system.All the sentences
have a word which is wrong. Pupils must replace this one with a word from the Word Bank to make the sentences
true. Check by asking pupils to read the correct sentences aloud.

Answers may vary. Sample answers are:
1. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. 2. One orbit of the Earth around the sun is 365 days.
3. Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. 4. If you lived on Mars, you would weigh less than you do on Earth.

3 Ask pupils to choose a planet they would like to visit, and write a couple of sentences explaining why. Answers will
vary. Check for correct use of facts about the planets, comparative and superlative adjectives.
