SUBJECT: Fork/Carriage Adjustment Procedure
The fork/carriage adjustment procedure has been changed to accommodate forks from different
suppliers.
In the past, the procedure of adjusting the carriage height did not always insure that the heel of the forks
would not contact the ground when fully lowered. That was because not all hook type fork suppliers
interpret the lengths of the fork in the same way.
The following changes will bring uniformity to the method of adjusting fork/carriage lowered height at
the factory.
Trucks shipped with forks (Hook or Pin type)
- Adjust the chain anchors which support the carriage until the bottom of the fork heel is 6 + 3 mm
(.25 + .12 inches) above the floor level.
Trucks shipped without forks (Hook type)
- Adjust the chain anchors which support the carriage until the bottom of the lower carriage bar is above
floor level as follows:
Class II & III = 82.5 + 3 mm (3.25 + .12 inches)
Class IV = 133.5 + 3 mm (5.25 + .12 inches)
Trucks shipped without forks (Pin type)
- Adjust the chain anchors which support the carriage until the centerline of the fork pin is above the ground
level as follows:
H70/80XL, H90XLS = 545 + 3 mm (21.5 + .12 inches)
H90-110XL = 708 + 3 mm (27.88 + .12 inches)
H135/155XL = 907 + 3 mm (35.75 + .12 inches)
WARNING: When working on or near the mast follow the  Safety Procedures When Working
Near The Mast in the service manual. Never allow anyone under a raised carriage. Do not put
any part of your body in or through the lift mechanism unless all parts of the mast are completely
lowered and the power is off and key removed.
