2 Function
This command loads (opens) a volume on a removable medium, such
as magnetic tape or disk. This command is received in a Support
Processor (SP). It must have been preceded by one of the path
building commands INMCT or INMIT. A valid volume label
must exist on the medium. Such a label can be defined when
formatting or scratching the medium. If parameter
VOL is used, a check is made that the
correct volume has been inserted into the device.
Parameter
FORMAT only applies for magnetic tape volumes. The
volume is mounted according to the format specified, if the
format exists in the exchange. Other formats may be added. The
default value is
STANDARD
. For a flexible disk, the volume is mounted according to the
format used when the medium was formatted.
Parameter
LCAT loads the file catalogue on magnetic tape volumes
into the primary memory. Its purpose is to speed up a
subsequent file opening on the volume. Loading of the file
catalogue takes a long time. The parameter is only applicable
for magnetic tape volumes.
The order remains after system restart.
3 Examples
3.1 Example 1
INVOL:NODE=A,IO=MT-1,FORMAT=BT;
A volume is mounted on IO unit MT-1 in node A. The British
Telecom labelling format is used.
3.2 Example 2
INVOL:NODE=A,IO=FD-1;
A volume is mounted on IO unit FD-1 in node A.
