LESSON 2 - TEACHER'S NOTES
Subject: Ho!Ho!Ho! It's Christmas time! - part 2.
Aims:
Cognitive:
To show students that they are surrounded by English words
To demonstrate that knowlegde of English can be useful in everyday life
Instructive:
To teach the students new words
To practise listening and pronunciation
To practise finding an information
To revise numbers
Educational:
To teach the students to name different things in Polish and English
To maintain discipline in the classroom
Teaching aids:
teacher self prepared materials: student's worksheet
teacher self prepared material: the magic hat
Cd player or laptop to play the song “12 Days of Christmas” - it can be found:

LESSON PLAN:
Collect the homework
Step 1: Warm-up: Make the copy or two of the pictures below and put them on the blackboard. Elicit essential vocabulary. You can divide the students into 3-4 groups and ask them to do the task as quickly as possible.
Step 2: Put the cards (see below) on the blackboard. Ask ss to write the numbers in their notebooks in a correct order. Elicit spelling and practise it with students.
Step 3: Give the students (ss) their worksheets, ask them to read the text.
Step 4: Ask the ss to focus on the recording. Make sure they know what to do (fill in the gaps with an appropiate word). Play the recording twice.
Step 5: Read the text with your students, translate the most difficult expressions (if any)
Step 6: Take the hat (or anything related to Christmas), put in the cards, let the students take them out one by one. Make sure you have as many cards as you need. In case you don't- write them by hand and put into the hat. Explain the game- every student has got a card with only one Christmas day. If they hear the day- they stand up for the time it is played, then they sit down. If the ss want to sing their part of song they can, but make sure it won't distrurb the exercise. Play the recording as many times as you want and as long as it is fun and relax to the ss.
Step 7: If you decide to stop the game and there'll be some time left, you can ask ss to write a Christmas card, giving them all help they'll need.
Tips: It won't be wise to play this game with ss who have problems with maintaining discipline, but it can also be done with a lot of teacher's effort. Christmas time is only once a year and the majority of ss deserve this little “sacrifice” from us.
